"Resignation?" Xu Mumu was startled for a moment; Yu Xinyao was thinking about resigning.
"Yes, the children are growing up day by day, and Brother Qingze also needs my help over there." Yu Xinyao said with a smile, this was a decision she had made long ago.
"Alright then, as long as you’ve thought it through, whatever decision you make, I’ll support you." Xu Mumu said earnestly.
"You really are such a sister." Yu Xinyao laughed happily on the other end of the phone.
Although they didn’t know what these two, as a couple, were aiming to achieve with all these big moves over the past two years, seeing Xu Mumu and the others so energetic made them want to work a bit harder.
After hanging up the phone, Xu Mumu put down the book in her hand and walked out of the room. Outside, the children were still noisily debating which story to listen to.
Xu Mumu didn’t go to mediate their quarrel, as this was something Doudou could handle well on his own, keeping the two younger siblings in line.
Xu Mumu sat on the sofa with her phone, looking at the messages. Whenever she had some spare time, she liked to browse through the messages on her phone. Xia Chengyuan no longer needed her occasional tips, they now handled things well on their own.
In the past two years, various software has emerged one after another, resembling those that would appear in the future. Xu Mumu was happy to see this happen. The touchscreen version of the phone was also developed by Yin Yang’s people, and although it was quite pricey, it had become a symbol of wealth.
Currently, Hua Country’s development is progressing rapidly, especially economically, ranking high worldwide. Xu Mumu was quite satisfied with this result.
Over the years, Yin Yang had established numerous orphanages and senior homes in Xu Mumu’s name, as well as several charitable foundations. Now, wherever you went, buildings were commonly seen. Even a few tile-roofed houses were rare, showing how well the country’s development had been over the past two years.
"Mom, I want a phone too; even big brother has one." Ruirui leaned in close to Xu Mumu, staring intently at her phone screen, wishing he had one too.
"Not allowed, you’ll have to wait until you grow as tall as Doudou before I buy you a phone." Xu Mumu said earnestly, pulling her son onto her lap. The two kids were only two and a half years old, very clever, but still too young for her to let them play with a phone.
"How long will that take?" Congcong said weakly, feeling it would take a long time. He measured his height daily, but never saw a little bit of growth, which made him feel so aggrieved.
"That’s because you’re not eating properly; look how much I eat, that’s why I’ve grown so tall." Doudou stood up; at seven or eight years old, he was nearly as tall as Xu Mumu’s shoulder.
Seeing her son, she was thankful he didn’t inherit her short genes.
The two kids were not of a quiet nature, always rambunctious, even during meals, jumping around uncontrollably, mainly because the family pampered them well.
However, Yin Yang could manage these two little rascals, and Doudou could always settle them down, so there was no need for Xu Mumu to worry much.
"I do eat every day." Congcong shouted loudly, although he still felt a bit guilty.
"No, you don’t; you eat lots of snacks and sweets daily, so you’re not growing tall." Doudou said calmly.
Xu Mumu watched from the side and found it amusing; having a few kids around made the house much more joyful.
Even though Congcong and Ruirui ate quite a lot every day, Xu Mumu hadn’t discovered whether they had awakened to superpowers yet.
Although a bit disappointed, she had anticipated this; even during the apocalypse, not more than ten percent awakened superpowers, much less when in another world. Doudou having superpowers was already a great blessing.
But the two children had good appetites and rarely got sick, healthier than average kids, which made Xu Mumu quite happy.
After playing with the children for a while, Yin Yang returned home late, looking exhausted. Xu Mumu was heartbroken upon seeing him like this, as his busy schedule was often due to her assigning tasks to him.
Had she not come or been with him, perhaps he’d live more easily.
Thinking this, Xu Mumu voiced her thoughts, especially over these past two busy years, all because of her.
"Oh, my silly wife, I’m willing to take this trouble myself, going on a journey to another world with you is something others can only dream of." Yin Yang said with a smile, if it weren’t for his little wife, he’d naturally want to live comfortably.
Without his little wife, life would have no meaning.
"How dare you call me silly, are you itching for a beating?" Xu Mumu pinched Yin Yang’s waist, but his words did console her a bit. After the apocalypse and possessing superpowers, with Zombie Crystal Core upgrading them, as long as they were cautious, no mistakes would occur.
"I wouldn’t dare." Yin Yang quickly pleaded.
A few days later, Yu Xinyao came over with her children to visit Xu Mumu. The kids went off to play, while Yu Xinyao watched Xu Mumu writing and drawing in her book, somewhat helplessly.
"Mumu, are you always this busy?" Yu Xinyao regretted coming over to bother her.
"Yes, probably always will be busy." Xu Mumu nodded, the time left for them wasn’t much. The Jade Pendant was only light green, needing full energy charging, indicating what she was doing was not yet enough.
"Why? You’ve done enough for this country; what you and your husband have accomplished has greatly improved the country’s economy and scientific research, ranking highly worldwide. Can’t you pause to rest?" Yu Xinyao couldn’t understand, as she was aware of what Xu Mumu had offered through her work within the system.
"You don’t understand, my time is limited." Xu Mumu gazed out the window, her thoughts distant.
She hadn’t figured out how to tell her parents yet, nor the few children, as they grew, they’d have to face this choice.
"Limited time? What do you mean? Mumu, are you sick? Cancer?" Yu Xinyao’s heart sank, immediately worrying and asking.
"You can think of it that way, Yaoyao, I don’t have many friends, but I’ve always cherished you." Xu Mumu looked earnestly at Yu Xinyao.
Twenty years is a timeframe sufficient to accomplish many things.
Yet the Jade Pendant’s color was progressing slowly, causing Xu Mumu some anxiety, but she had no other options.
"Mumu, don’t be like this; you’re speaking as if you’re leaving final words. What’s wrong with you? Have you encountered difficulties? Share them with me, and I’ll help you figure it out." Yu Xinyao was scared by Xu Mumu’s demeanor.
