The Mouse King was killed, and the other zombie rats either died or fled. Xu Mumu and the others breathed a sigh of relief; killing so many zombie rats was exhausting.
Xu Mumu wiped the dirt off her face, then pulled out the knife lodged in the zombie rat’s head and cleaned it with water.
Seeing the Crystal Core that Little Huo brought over, Xu Mumu smiled. It was a level five Crystal Core.
Noticing Little Huo’s eager eyes, Xu Mumu chuckled softly, washed the Crystal Core with water, purified it, and then placed it in front of Little Huo. Both being fire elementals, eating this level five Crystal Core should allow Little Huo to break through. Xu Mumu started to anticipate the changes in Little Huo after the breakthrough.
"Go ahead and eat it." Xu Mumu gently placed the Crystal Core by Little Huo’s mouth.
Little Huo happily swallowed the Core, which then released a powerful energy rushing through its body. Little Huo instinctively absorbed the Core’s energy.
Little Huo’s entire body became hot, the whole chicken lay on the ground, laying several eggs before its heat gradually subsided.
Xu Mumu twitched at the corners of her mouth, then silently collected the eggs. The eggs contained the energy essence refined by Little Huo, and they were sure to taste delicious when cooked.
"Sis-in-law, I want to eat egg custard for lunch." Even though Xu Mumu had collected the eggs, Yin Chuchu still swallowed quietly, craving the eggs.
"Alright, I’ll make it for you in a bit." Xu Mumu laughed.
"Sis-in-law, you’re the best." Yin Chuchu was thrilled.
After resting for quite a while, they were less tired and began packing up to leave.
As they departed, Xu Mumu carried Little Huo into the car. It hadn’t fully absorbed the energy yet and was still asleep.
Little Huo was not small and wasn’t light either.
After getting in the car, the group set off again. Yin Lin found a small courtyard, and the few zombies outside were easily dealt with.
Throughout the journey, Yin Yang was worried about Xu Mumu’s condition. If not for her constant reassurance that she was fine, he would have already checked on the wound on her back.
With a superpower user’s body being far better than an ordinary person’s, plus Xu Mumu’s strength mutation, such a minor injury healed almost entirely in no time, and she no longer felt any pain.
Upon reaching the small courtyard, Yin Yang instructed the team to rest for two days. They’ve been killing zombies so much lately they were nearly sick of it.
Xu Mumu didn’t object. She also felt a bit fatigued from continuously killing zombies.
After the room was tidied, Yin Yang thoroughly cleaned it while Xu Mumu watched, her mouth twitching. She never expected the devouring superpower could be used for cleaning too.
Yin Yang’s palm produced a large mass of black liquid that spread over the entire room in an instant. Now, Yin Yang could easily control his superpower. It would only devour things he intended to.
Unexpectedly, the devouring superpower could be used this way. When Yin Yang retracted his power, the room was spotless.
"You’re wasting your superpower." Xu Mumu looked at Yin Yang helplessly.
"It’s nothing, just a bit of power. I only want you to be comfortable living here." Yin Yang said nonchalantly.
"Let me take a look at your back injury and apply some medicine," Yin Yang said seriously. He had been worrying about his wife’s injury throughout the journey.
"I’m really okay, look for yourself." Xu Mumu resignedly lifted her clothing at the back.
Her back was completely unscathed, still as white as before, and it carried her subtle fragrance.
Yin Yang quickly helped her pull her shirt back down, fearing he couldn’t resist. She had no idea how alluring she was to him.
"Tsk tsk, you’re actually shy." Xu Mumu delightedly admired Yin Yang’s slightly flushed face, feeling quite pleased. After being married for many years, how could she not know what he was thinking?
"Don’t tease me; I can’t take it." Yin Yang said helplessly.
"I’m not teasing, hehe, here you go." Xu Mumu retrieved a small box from space and tossed it into Yin Yang’s hands. Although they couldn’t have children now, they were still husband and wife, and she didn’t want him to struggle too much.
"You even kept this?" Yin Yang widened his eyes at the small umbrella in his hands, his eyes gleaming instantly.
"Yeah, it’s been so long I forgot, just remembered, so I found it for you." Xu Mumu smiled warmly.
Yin Yang stared at the small box intently with eyes so hot they seemed to burn a hole through it.
Unable to endure his burning gaze, Xu Mumu ran out to prepare food.
Xu Mumu took out two of Little Huo’s eggs and made egg soup for lunch, filling everyone with a hearty bowl.
By the time they ate lunch, it was past three in the afternoon. Xu Mumu looked at the pale sunlight, noting the weather was getting colder. Snow might start falling in just a few days.
Xu Mumu searched out the warm clothes and placed them in the most visible spot in space for easy access.
After lunch, Yin Lin led a team out, clearing nearby zombies while assessing the situation around them.
The meteor was still half a month’s drive away at their current speed.
No survivors were found nearby, which didn’t bother Yin Lin. Fewer survivors also meant fewer troubles.
Compared to zombies, humans were the most frightening creatures.
They’d rather kill zombies than rescue people.
"Big brother, we found a police station over there. It should have weapons. Should we check it out?" Returning to their temporary quarters, Yin Lin recounted his findings during his scouting.
"Let’s check it out." After considering for a moment, Yin Yang agreed. Their current weapon supply wasn’t endless; they needed replenishment, and this was a good opportunity.
"Did anyone enter the police station when you scouted it?" Yin Yang asked.
"It was somewhat messy inside; I’m not sure if the weapons cache is still there." Yin Lin pursed his lips, having only conducted a quick reconnaissance.
"We’ll check it out tomorrow." Yin Yang decided to go regardless; even if others had been there, he still wanted to see if any weapons remained.
"Prepare the crew, split into two teams; taking one team out should be enough." Yin Yang instructed Yin Lin.
"Got it, brother. I knew you’d agree." Yin Lin said excitedly.
