White-gold residue climbed from every broken statue before Ferra finished stabilizing the western archive. Matching light rose from the six roof fragments, joining the same narrow path inside the upper wall.
Her forge-light Wing closed around the visible current without catching any material. The residue passed between her suspended tools, carrying no heat, weight, or metal Ferra could hold inside a receipt.
"It is following an archive ward route," she said, tracking the ascent through her gauges, "whatever waits above already belongs to this building’s inventory."
Didi looked toward the sealed ceiling beyond the restricted catalog bay above their position. A secure stair above that aisle ended inside the royal coronation store, where ceremonial armor remained between reigns.
She transferred Gazel’s prayer case plus the First Prince’s withdrawal ledger back to both recorders. Their certified evidence case returned behind the eastern load wall while guards closed around its safe route.
"The upper armor has no assigned wearer," Didi said, sealing the handoff before turning toward the stair, "it has remained upon a storage frame since my father’s coronation."
Eirwen entered through the eastern passage before Hajin reached the upper seal. Her silverwood memory-root case pulled toward the ceiling, forcing twelve closed Shards to appear briefly beside her bow.
The succession councilor and royal archive councilor followed beneath a separate guard detail. Didi’s automatic suspension had summoned both offices to account for her archive override before the survey attack interrupted their route.
"My witness right covers another refusal-network response," Eirwen said, keeping her case outside Ferra’s custody line, "the root has begun answering the same current your broken constructs released."
The archive councilor opened the coronation stair with his emergency key while Didi supplied the royal blood mark. Neither seal affected the white-gold current already moving through the stone beside them.
Hajin climbed first with all four Rings closed and his bandaged right arm hidden beneath its sleeve. Juna followed beside Loccy, whose numb arms remained folded after Juna secured her hammer against the stabilized lintel.
Ferra entered behind them with one forge-light Wing surrounding eight ceramic tools. Didi, Eirwen, both councilors, plus six guards completed the room before the archive key sealed the stair again.
Black-gray nullstone divided the coronation floor into broad squares beneath a domed ceiling. No living root, soil bed, or open ward conduit crossed the secure storage chamber.
The room had been built to isolate ceremonial objects from royal blood, hostile divination, plus accidental ward commands during storage. Even Eirwen’s sealed memory root became motionless after crossing the threshold, leaving her without a living network inside the walls.
An empty suit of royal armor stood upon a fitted frame at its center. Heavy white plate surrounded an open breast cavity, while its crowned helm rested above a hollow gorget without any head inside.
Separate gauntlets hung beside the arm frame, and both greaves remained locked around carved wooden supports. The armor contained no preserved body, visible core, treatment line, or royal blood residue beneath ordinary sight.
White-gold light entered through the floor before anyone approached the display inside its nullstone circle. Fourteen distinct currents crossed the nullstone seams without activating them, then gathered beneath the empty armored feet.
The royal archive councilor raised his custody slate when the first plate moved against its frame. His hand shook, although he read the recorded inventory before adding any explanation.

"An empty record cannot prove an empty soul," Hajin said, sending the Legendary Chain around the display without touching its open plates, "keep every guard beyond the nullstone circle until I check the vessel."
The Chain tightened around the wooden frame when the armor began lifting its separated hands. No resistance traveled through a body because every white plate continued moving around vacant space.
Hajin crossed the circle while Divine Eye followed the converging survey residue. The current gathered into a hollow core shape beneath the breastplate, but no pulse, memory pattern, or mortal circulation appeared within it.
He pressed the fingerless Collector’s Grasp against the armor’s open chest before its plates could close. The glove bypassed enchanted metal, entering the waiting core position without puncturing or bending its ceremonial surface.
Cold absence met his fingers where a living soul should have resisted contact. Collector’s Grasp found shaped capacity, an unfinished incarnation channel, plus an empty seat prepared for something descending from elsewhere.

"No hostage," Aria said, preserving the result across both recorder slates, "the armor is an empty constructed vessel, and the incoming presence carries no mortal soul ahead of it."
Hajin withdrew his left hand from the unfinished core shape without crushing it. The ethical question had closed before any attack could let a hidden person absorb the consequence.
The answer also arrived too late to stop the completed descent forming above them. White-gold space opened beneath the domed ceiling while the fourteen survey currents locked around the armor from below.
Pressure entered the room without wind or heat, descending through the open space above the crowned helm. Divine Eye could follow its direction, although no distant body or origin became visible beyond the forming channel.
The coronation gauntlets closed around hands made entirely from condensed light beneath the open helm. Greaves abandoned their wooden supports, the breastplate sealed across an empty torso, plus the crowned helm lowered over a smooth white-gold face.
Every wooden storage brace fell away after the armor stood beneath its own weight. Hajin’s Chain remained around the ceremonial shell, but the presence inside treated those links as another measurement awaiting judgment.

[ Designation: Witness Avatar ]
[ Governing law detected: hierarchical measurement ]
The new avatar raised one plated hand while the ceiling channel closed behind it. White-gold script spread across the nullstone floor, climbed every wall, then sealed the complete coronation room inside one measured boundary.
Numbers formed above the guards first, identifying two, three, four, or five Shards beside their names. Both councilors received their smaller Shard readings before the law marked them with the same lower sign.
Aria separated the foreign labels from Hajin’s system before either display could be mistaken for an objective status panel. These marks belonged to the room-scale law, measuring every person according to the hierarchy the avatar had brought with its body.
Each accepted rank connected through a thin white-gold thread toward the raised armored hand. The numbers therefore served as active parts of one command structure instead of harmless descriptions floating above the room.
Didi’s three Shards appeared above her ice-flower seal inside the accepted hierarchy. Eirwen received twelve bright marks, while Juna plus Loccy each gained three Wing symbols and Ferra received one rotating forge-light sign.
The law reached Hajin last and failed to replace his four resting Rings with any Shard number. Broken white-gold script turned above his head, repeatedly opening into four circles before returning an unresolved rank.
{Hajin: hierarchy position unavailable.}
The Witness Avatar looked from Eirwen’s twelve accepted marks toward the failure above Hajin. Its crowned helm carried no eyes, although the complete room tightened when its attention moved.
"Measurement is complete," the avatar said, sending its voice through every rank label at once, "every lesser being will kneel before the Witness."
