Chapter 398: Bloodline Sanctuary

Collector’s Grasp held the child’s core, body, and soul membrane together while the extraction chamber collapsed around the broken lattice.

Vella kept one hand against the child’s chest and the other beneath her jaw, forcing breath through a body that no longer trusted air.

Didi stood at the edge of the rescue circle with four Shards held ready, keeping the Underworld claim suspended instead of letting it follow the child’s demonic core.

Hajin kept Breaker’s Lever wedged inside the exposed incarnation seam while Phase Lock cooled the hybrid mana moving through his left arm.

The child twisted against Collector’s Grasp when a white-gold command struck the remaining lattice.

Hajin felt the command reach for her ownership mark, and the same pressure scraped along his bones through the connection holding her together.

Aria opened a panel above their joined circulation without calling the child a summon or a possession.

[ Bloodline Sanctuary: Available / Incomplete ]

[ Requirement: Endangered compatible bloodline ]

[ Requirement: External ownership claim actively denied ]

[ Requirement: Non-permanent refuge without service obligation ]

[ Requirement: Stable host circulation ]

Every condition except the final connection carried a visible mark.

The child had a compatible demonic core, the external claim remained suspended, and Hajin’s hybrid circulation could carry her for a short distance.

The missing link waited inside the part of the skill that could turn refuge into ownership if Hajin forced it open.

Eirwen stood beyond the rescue circle as treaty witness, comparing the Fragment wording with the document sealed before the operation.

"The refuge must remain reversible, and no household, Crown, or Court claim can be inferred from a bloodline label," Eirwen said, keeping the treaty page visible.

Didi held the Underworld pressure in one hand while looking toward the child.

"No royal adoption, wardship, or succession claim follows her through this connection, and her name remains outside the record," Didi added.

Vella checked the child’s pulse and found the rhythm failing beneath the prison’s forced pattern.

"The body can survive only one compatible circulation, and it has to stop when she pulls away," Vella warned, keeping her thumb beside the child’s throat.

Hajin reached toward the open Sanctuary line with his free hand.

"The first state is shelter without contract, command authority, service, or permanent integration," he said inside his thoughts, holding the intention steady.

Aria marked the refusal of ownership, and the Fragment answered with a thin thread of silver-gold light.

Hajin guided the thread toward the child’s demonic circulation while Collector’s Grasp kept her core from splitting apart.

The child opened her eyes and found Hajin’s hand near her horns.

Her body recoiled before the thread could close, and the sudden movement tore the light apart across Hajin’s arm.

Pain struck through his chest and right shoulder while Phase Lock failed to hold the hybrid circulation in place.

Hajin withdrew at once, and the unfinished Sanctuary line collapsed without taking the child’s soul with it.

Collector’s Grasp tightened around the core when the refuge failed, and the force dragged a dark line across Hajin’s palm.

Vella shifted her hand beneath the child’s jaw while the exposed lattice tried to pull the demonic circulation back toward its old anchor.

"The prison is still calling the core, and another forced connection will make the rescue resemble the experiment we are breaking," Vella warned.

Didi drove one Shard into the floor and held the Underworld claim at the edge of the collapsing seam.

"The claim is contained, but it will follow any ownership command that reaches the child before Sanctuary stabilizes," Didi said, keeping her grief out of the pressure.

Hajin’s shoulder bled through the bandage when the failed thread dissolved, yet he kept the open hand beside the child’s blanket.

Eirwen stepped closer to the treaty boundary and lowered the document before the falling dust could cover its exclusions.

"The first failure proves the refuge can stop, and that limit must remain part of the record," Eirwen said, watching Hajin refuse another reach.

Hajin nodded while the child shook beneath Collector’s Grasp and the collapsing lattice screamed above them.

"No one will use the failed attempt as evidence that she accepted anything, and the next opening waits for her movement," Hajin replied.

Vella caught the child’s head while Didi tightened her grip on the Underworld claim.

"The first attempt failed, and you stopped before the refuge became another hand on her body," Vella said, checking Hajin’s bleeding shoulder.

Hajin clenched his jaw against the pain and kept his hand open beside the child’s blanket.

"She pulled away, so the skill stopped with her, and we wait for a choice she can make without my pressure," he replied.

The child shook beneath Collector’s Grasp while the broken lattice screamed behind the rescue circle.

Loccy stepped into view from the collapsed gallery, blood drying across her armor and her stance lowered to appear smaller.

Loccy did not reach for the child. She removed the rejected blanket from her own shoulder and placed it on the floor within sight.

The child looked from the blanket to Loccy, then toward the open space beside the armored woman.

Hajin kept the Sanctuary thread dormant while Vella continued breathing support and Didi held the external claim away from the core.

"The refuge can wait, and the person who chooses the available shelter decides when the connection returns," Aria said, keeping the unfinished panel closed.

Loccy lowered herself to one knee, then sat on the broken floor without raising her armor or spreading a Wing.

The child crawled one hand’s width toward her side, stopped at the edge of the blanket, and watched for a reaction.

Loccy remained still beside the collapsing wall while the prison’s metal groaned overhead.

The child’s fingers touched the blanket, and the Sanctuary line reopened without Hajin moving his hand toward her.

Silver-gold light crossed the space between the compatible circulations, stopping when the child stopped and continuing only when her fingers remained on the cloth.

Hajin felt the connection settle through his left arm, carrying one rule with it.

The refuge could catch an ownership command or core separation aimed through the protected bloodline, yet it could not compel the child to stay, heal every wound, or grant Hajin control of her actions.

The cost reached Hajin immediately when the child’s damaged circulation reflected a wave of pain into his own ribs.

His right arm went numb, and the remaining Rings closed beneath his sleeve while Phase Lock emptied itself to keep the connection from tearing.

Hajin stayed on one knee and let the pain pass through without grabbing the child’s shoulder.

Vella watched the line stabilize and kept her treatment hand visible near the child’s wrist.

"The protection is holding, and the cost is your body carrying the failure that would have separated her," Vella said, turning the Spirit Ring toward both patients.

Didi lowered her hand only after True Bearer confirmed that the Underworld claim had not followed the child through the new refuge.

The Fragment panel changed while the surrounding chamber continued to collapse.

[ Rescue Condition Complete ]

[ Protected Bloodline Kin: Stable ]

[ Name: Withheld ]

[ Permanent Bloodline Integration: Locked ]

[ Required for Permanent Integration: Conscious True Name / Informed Consent / Greater Fragment Authority ]

The child remained beside Loccy without looking toward Hajin, and the system did not mistake distance for rejection of the shelter.

Vella continued supporting the child’s breathing while the Sanctuary line settled around the compatible circulation in narrow pulses.

Each pulse stopped when the child pulled her fingers from the blanket, then resumed only after she returned them to the cloth.

Hajin felt the pattern and kept his hand open, allowing the child to control the only doorway into the refuge.

The Underworld claim stayed outside the loop, while Didi watched the old ownership pressure fade from the child’s core without claiming credit for the release.

Eirwen recorded the reversible rule beside the treaty boundary and sealed the page after the child looked toward the exit.

"She survived the connection, and survival does not make her ours," Eirwen said, lowering the treaty copy.

Loccy adjusted the blanket by nudging it closer with her shoulder, and the child kept her hand on the cloth while the chamber shook.

Rumi and Nari opened the retreat route wider, while Ferra lifted the Lever from the seam and carried the damaged artifact away from the child’s circulation.

Hajin stayed on one knee until the pain in his ribs became a dull echo, then followed the child without reaching for her.

The refuge held while the child crossed the retreat boundary, and its first success remained limited to keeping her alive without asking her to belong.

The incomplete line traveled with her as protection, never as a claim.

The child remained alive, unnamed, and free to pull away from the refuge later.

Rumi and Nari opened the verified retreat while Ferra prepared to pull Breaker’s Lever from the dying seam.

Hajin released the Lever only after the child moved beyond the collapsing lattice, keeping the artifact separate from the bloodline connection.

Loccy carried no title and made no promise to guard the child forever, yet her armored side remained the largest safe shape in the chamber.

Hajin watched the Sanctuary line settle into a reversible loop while the child kept one hand on the blanket and one eye on every adult nearby.

Survival had been secured without a summon contract, while trust remained outside the refuge and the permanent line stayed locked.
