Chapter 402: Everyone Receives a Place

The Ordered Court assigned Hajin no place, so it tried to turn everyone around him into leverage while white-gold labels hung across the capital streets.

Noble owners received control over warded doors, weapon-labeled guards felt their muscles obey royal commands, and property-labeled servants could not cross boundaries without accepted permission.

Excess civilians suffered direct pressure from every active ward while Hajin tracked the change. He moved beneath three Rings as Aria maintained the temporary buffer around Bloodline Sanctuary.

Each ownership pulse struck the connection rather than his ordinary body, searching for the child protected beyond the palace circuit.

[Court Classification Attempt: Stolen Property]

[Bloodline Sanctuary Response: Reversible protection maintained]

[Command authority transfer: Denied]

The buffer delayed another pulse, consuming mana from the pathways supporting his Rings. An ordinary wound to Hajin would not injure the child, but this attached authority targeted the protected relationship itself.

"The next pressure arrives through the eastern ward," Aria said within his thoughts, "I can offset its sampled frequency for eleven seconds."

"Show Didi the source," Hajin replied as he faced the occupied intersection.

Didi planted Crowned Frost beneath the wardstone, named four trapped servants individually, and denied their property labels without making them her subjects.

True Bearer froze the command as each person crossed into an unassigned alley, and Didi said, "Move when your own legs answer, because nobody belongs to this street after leaving it," while her fourth Shard held the ward.

The Court increased pressure through her royal blood, and blood gathered beneath Didi’s palm while she kept the route open until the final servant cleared.

Two weapon-labeled guards attacked Hajin from opposite roofs while Vella entered their circulation through the Spirit Ring and found unwilling command lines wrapped around voluntary oaths to defend the capital.

Vella said, "Their bodies are compelled, so do not cut the civic oaths underneath," as she separated both structures.

Hajin caught the first spear with Aegis while the Chain remained stored until he verified the second guard’s route, then entered his right hand and wrapped both weapons without touching either person.

Vella severed the compelled labels, and both guards collapsed against the roof tiles while keeping their chosen protective oaths intact.

"We can still serve the district?" one guard asked, breathing against the aftershock.

"If you choose the assignment yourselves," Hajin replied, releasing their weapons, "escort excess-labeled civilians beyond the eastern ward and report when you want replacement."

The guards accepted the bounded task without receiving supernatural pressure from him. Their work became a choice again, even though the Court still displayed the weapon label above them.

Rumi opened a short route through an owner-controlled gate she had physically touched. Nari fixed the endpoint inside Eirwen’s verified garden path, then closed the opening before Court law followed.

Their two Wings moved eight civilians at a time but could not carry the district while the Court learned after the second crossing and assigned the gate itself as noble property.

Rumi’s next opening bent toward the registered owner instead of the garden endpoint. She dismissed the route before anyone entered, choosing delay over a road whose destination had changed.

Nari touched the new closing edge and traced its corruption back to a brass ownership plate. Ferra removed the plate with mundane cutters while Didi froze the attached law.

Only after Aria confirmed the known destination did the sisters resume evacuation, and the route remained narrow but no longer carried a social command into the people using it.

The ninth civilian was an elderly woman attached to a treatment chair, and Rumi’s road destabilized around the metal frame because the Court classified it under a noble owner’s property line.

Hajin said, "Physical route, because we do not force her through a dangerous opening just because spatial power looks faster," as he lifted one side of the chair.

Loccy took the other side and carried the chair along the ordinary street. Juna cleared pressure from every intersection without cutting occupied ward bodies.

The Crowned Avatar said, "Unclassified vessel rejects useful hierarchy, because assigning every function prevents conflict," through the bells above them.

"Your order prevents refusal," Hajin replied, though the distant avatar required no answer, "that is not the same thing."

An owner-labeled noble emerged from a sealed carriage and ordered three servants to carry his valuables instead of injured neighbors. The Court strengthened his voice through the nearest ward, forcing the servants to turn.

The carriage contained no people, only sealed silver and ceremonial weapons. Loccy lifted it off the road and placed it across an empty ward channel, using its Court-recognized ownership weight to block the pressure chasing the medical carts.

The noble protested until the first cart cleared the intersection, then Loccy said with one hand on the carriage, "Your property is serving the district, so you may complain after the patients breathe somewhere safer."

Didi froze the ownership sentence, but she did not strip the noble’s title or assign him another role before she said to the servants, "Carry whatever you choose, because the street recognizes no owner’s command while I remain here."

Two servants joined a medical cart while the third carried a small locked box because it contained her dead sister’s letters rather than the noble’s treasure.

Didi permitted all three choices while the noble attempted to cross Didi’s frost to reclaim authority, but True Bearer rejected his label without harming him and left an ordinary man shouting on a public road.

Ferra reached the wardstone, then installed one surviving anti-divine stake while its prepared tool grounded the Court’s pressure as Didi withdrew her bleeding palm, then Ferra said, "Temporary relief only, because the avatar can reroute through another occupied node."

Aria mapped every rerouting response across Hajin’s Resonance circuit within the limits they had verified. The capital did not behave like a Zone with one boundary.

It functioned through linked ward pylons, blood authorization, and assigned people carrying orders. Hajin pressed Collector’s Grasp against the grounded pylon and sampled one complete assignment cycle.

The node received a role from the palace, found a recognized social label, then converted resistance into physical ward pressure. Removing the social label alone made the node search again.

Breaking the node released its stored load into the surrounding street, and Hajin said as he shared the cycle with Ferra, "We need a controlled reroute before destroying each core, because otherwise freedom arrives beneath collapsing buildings."

Ferra modified the anti-divine stake to carry pressure into empty road foundations. Didi held the labels still while Vella separated living minds to create a repeatable sequence rather than improvising every district.

The Sanctuary pulse returned from the palace, and Hajin let the buffer catch it without opening another Ring.

Pain crossed his chest, but the child remained physically safe inside the archive route. Vella confirmed that her seizure rhythm had not changed with his ordinary battle strain.

The Court tried labeling the sisters as paired hunting property, but their independent contracts rejected the shared category while the pressure exploited their linked anchors and dragged both Wings toward one position.

Hajin ordered no response through the summon bond, shared Aria’s sampled frequency, and let them choose.

Rumi opened distance between their bodies while Nari closed only the assigned-property route, preserving their natural link and rejecting the Court’s imposed use.

Both remained separate people standing on opposite sides of the street while Vella said, "Attached command only, so do not let anyone describe every wound as shared."

Hajin accepted the correction and moved toward the next pylon. Everyone in the Ordered Court received a place, except the people who kept choosing where to stand.

The difference was small enough to miss in a royal report, but it was enough to keep a guard from becoming a weapon and a servant from becoming a thing.

Didi wrote the distinction into the district ledger before the next label appeared. Ferra copied the same sequence beside the anti-divine stake so other captains could repeat it without guessing which command had to be held first.

Rumi and Nari stood on opposite sides of the street without sharing the pain. The Court’s label remained overhead, yet neither sister moved for it.
