Vella laid a gold thread over the medical line, Ferra arranged the instruments, and Rumi plus Nari stood opposite one another across the map.
Didi kept the Crown seal wrapped beside her hand, while the Watcher sat at the far end with Ash against her side.
The demon child remained near the doorway with Elina, because nobody had asked whether she wanted to see the road beyond the Sixth.

Rumi lifted one finger toward the Alder border and answered, "I can preserve one route and return it, but I can’t promise that every road will remain where we left it."
Nari placed a marker near the exit and said, "I can close a route after we cross, but closure won’t make the destination safe or the return immediate."
Ferra set a small metal token beside the mountain line and explained, "The refusal socket stays sealed unless the route answers it, and nobody carries it away from Ash’s chosen bearing."
The Watcher’s broad hand tightened around Ash’s shoulder before she said, "He isn’t traveling as a tool, and nobody says key when they mean child."

The child gave no answer, so Eirwen continued, "You can travel one day, go farther, or remain here while the others leave, and none makes you a failure."
Elina kept one hand on the doorway and added, "I can keep a room ready without asking where you slept the previous night."
The child looked toward Hajin, who kept both hands on the map’s edge and said, "I won’t summon you onto the road, and I won’t call you back for a solution."
One finger touched the Alder marker, but no halo, royal response, or system notice followed the contact.
Relief left the Watcher’s face, and Hajin thought, ’A choice doesn’t need a flare to become real,’ watching the child’s finger leave the marker, ’especially after every signal became frightening.’
A second marker left the table and joined the first beneath the lamps.
Eirwen pointed toward the paired markers and asked, "One day or two, and do you want the return point marked before we leave?"
Two fingers rose, then the child moved toward an empty chair without touching the route again.
Eirwen nodded and said, "Two days, then we ask again, because participation isn’t a contract made from one answer."
Marrick wrote the condition into the ledger and stated, "Temporary participation, voluntary return, no compulsory bond, and no punishment for leaving."
The Watcher read the line and replied, "Write that return remains possible even when the road becomes important, because importance isn’t ownership."
Marrick added the sentence while Hajin replaced the removed chair beside the table instead of returning it to the head.
Hajin stood beside the new arrangement and said, "The expedition has roles, not ranks inside the household, so every person knows where responsibility ends."
