Chapter 193 Spirits Break Free

Seraphina’s POV

The basement erupted in brilliant light. Black salt scattered across the stone floor as my power shattered the ritual circle completely.

Alpha Jasper stumbled backward, his hands flying to shield his face. "Impossible! The ceremony was nearly complete! You were supposed to be drained!"

I stepped forward, my feet crushing the broken salt beneath me. The Fang-Shield root coursed through my veins like liquid fire, and when I looked down at my hands, they blazed with pure white energy.

"The only thing drained here is your brain, uncle," I said. My voice carried an otherworldly resonance as my wolf spoke through me.

Cordelia stood frozen in place, the silver blade trembling violently in her grip. The metal clinked against her shaking fingers. "Seraphina? But you looked so defeated in that dress. So helpless."

"It’s called performance, Cordelia," I hissed, my eyes burning with power. "Maybe you should learn the art instead of being such a pathetic fool."

"Guards!" Jasper bellowed, scrambling to his feet with rage contorting his features. "Destroy them both! Rip out their hearts! We’ll complete the ritual with their blood!"

Four massive figures emerged from the shadows, moving with mechanical precision. Their skin had a sickly gray pallor, hard and cracked like ancient stone. These weren’t real wolves. They were something far worse.

The first guard lunged at Julian, but my mate didn’t even bother shifting. His fist connected with the creature’s chest, and the sound of cracking stone echoed through the chamber. The guard flew across the room and crashed into a pillar with devastating force.

"The containers, Seraphina!" Julian shouted over the chaos. "Destroy them all! Release the imprisoned souls!"

My gaze swept across hundreds of glowing blue vessels lining the walls. Each jar pulsed with trapped energy, and I could hear the anguished cries of stolen wolf spirits begging for freedom.

I raised both arms, feeling my White Wolf power surge through every cell in my body. Instead of using brute force, I reached out with my mind, grasping the very air itself.

"Shatter," I commanded.

A massive shockwave of white energy exploded from my core, striking the shelves like an invisible sledgehammer.

The sound was absolutely deafening. Thousands of glass fragments burst into the air, but the blue flames didn’t fall. Instead, they soared upward like tiny phoenixes breaking free from their prisons.

The basement filled with swirling, luminous spirits. They weren’t terrifying at all. They were magnificent. These were the souls of murdered wolves, and they danced around us in grateful spirals, their voices creating a symphony of whispered thanks.

"No!" Jasper shrieked, desperately trying to capture the escaping lights with his bare hands. "My collection! My empire!"

Without the vessels containing stolen power, the dark magic binding this place began to crumble. The stone guards started disintegrating where they stood. They weren’t living beings after all, just constructs made from stolen energy and black magic. One by one, they collapsed into piles of dust and rubble.

Cordelia stared at me with wild eyes filled with terror and desperate greed.

"I refuse to let you win!" she screamed, charging at me with the silver dagger raised high. "I’ll end you myself!"

I didn’t move a muscle. I simply watched her approach.

As she closed the distance, my wolf surged forward. I didn’t shift completely, but I allowed my claws to extend just enough. When Cordelia swung the blade, I caught her wrist effortlessly in mid-air.

I squeezed. The bone snapped with a satisfying crack. Cordelia’s scream pierced the air as the silver weapon clattered to the floor.

"Did you really believe you could steal my life?" I asked, leaning close until my glowing eyes were inches from hers. "You thought you could take my mate and destroy my home? You’re nothing but a spoiled, selfish little girl, Cordelia. And queens don’t lose to bratty children."

I released a burst of energy that sent her flying across the room. She landed in a crumpled heap beside Vivian.

Vivian pressed herself against the wall, her face drained of all color. "Julian... Seraphina... I had no idea what he truly was. Jasper promised he would make us the most powerful pack on the continent. He swore nobody would ever threaten us again."

"You traded our souls for empty promises, Mother," Julian said, advancing on Jasper, who had backed himself into a corner. "You welcomed a monster into our home because you were terrified of appearing vulnerable."

"Julian, please listen!" Jasper begged, looking suddenly like a frail, desperate old man. Without his stolen power, he was nothing. "We can negotiate! I have vast wealth! I know secrets!"

"There’s only one thing I want to discover," Julian said, his voice dropping to a menacing growl, "and that’s how it feels to lose absolutely everything."

Julian chose not to kill him. Instead, he grabbed Jasper by the throat and lifted him completely off the ground. He looked up at the blue spirits still circling overhead.

"Take back what belongs to you," Julian commanded.

The luminous spirits seemed to understand perfectly. They dove toward Jasper in a beautiful, terrible swarm. They didn’t attack him physically, but flowed through his body like water. Each spirit reclaimed the energy he had stolen from them over decades of murder and dark magic. Jasper aged dramatically in mere moments, his hair turning white as snow and his skin becoming paper-thin and wrinkled.

The freed spirits then turned toward the ceiling, passing through solid stone as they rose into the night sky to return to their bodies or ascend to the Fang Goddess.

The basement plunged into darkness. The only remaining light came from the soft glow still emanating from Julian and me.

Jasper collapsed unconscious on the cold floor, now ancient and powerless. Cordelia sobbed while cradling her shattered wrist. Vivian sat in silence with her face buried in her hands.

The ritual was finished. The trap was broken.

I walked to Julian, who immediately pulled me into his strong arms.

"Are you hurt?" he asked, his eyes filled with love and concern.

I pressed my face against his chest, exhaustion hitting me like a tidal wave. "I’m fine. We actually did it."

"Yes, we did," he whispered, kissing the top of my head tenderly.

We stood together for several precious moments, just breathing and holding each other.

"What happens to them now?" I asked, glancing at Cordelia and Vivian.

Julian’s expression hardened as he looked at them. "Jasper and Cordelia will face the Council of Alphas. The alpha king will decide their punishment."

"And your mother?"

Julian sighed deeply, studying Vivian with conflicted eyes. She looked up at him with tears streaming down her cheeks.

"She’s still my mother," Julian said finally. "But she betrayed me and endangered our entire pack. She’ll lose all rank and authority. She can live in the small cabin at the territory’s border, but she’s forbidden from entering the Fang House ever again. She’s no longer part of our leadership."

Vivian didn’t protest. She simply nodded and released a heartbroken sob, knowing she was fortunate to remain in the pack at all.

"Let’s go home, Julian," I said softly.

"Absolutely," he agreed, taking my hand and leading me toward the stairs. "Let’s tell our pack that the war is finally over."
