Chapter 208 Sisters Choose Love

Seraphina’s POV

Dawn broke over the Zenith Packhouse, casting golden light across the grounds. Today would be Roxanne’s wedding day. Though it wasn’t my ceremony, something about this moment felt deeply personal. After years of conflict and pain, my sister was finally ready to bind her soul to Caleb’s.

Our relationship had transformed completely. For the first time in our lives, I had a sister I could truly share everything with. Life had never felt this complete.

I stepped into Roxanne’s bedroom, where silk ribbons and fresh jasmine filled the air. Roxanne sat frozen before her vanity mirror, her hands trembling so violently she couldn’t grip her hairbrush.

"I can’t do this, Seraphina." Her voice came out barely above a whisper, thick with terror. "I’m going to stumble down that aisle. Or worse, Caleb will finally see he deserves better and bolt."

Moving behind her, I placed steady hands on her shoulders and met her gaze in the mirror. She looked radiant. Gone was the heavy, dramatic makeup she’d worn when desperately trying to catch Julian’s attention. Instead, she appeared soft and natural. Her golden hair was woven into a loose braid adorned with delicate white blossoms. This was a woman who had discovered her true self at last.

A woman finally at peace.

"Roxanne, listen to me," I said softly.

Her frightened eyes found mine in the reflection.

"Caleb has been devoted to you for years," I reminded her. "He loved you when you were acting impossible. He loved you even when you were actively trying to destroy my happiness. He won’t abandon you now that you’ve become the woman he always believed you could be."

What Caleb had endured was extraordinary. Few people could have shown such patience and loyalty. Roxanne would carry the weight of his sacrifice forever, and I knew that knowledge would always bring her both regret and profound gratitude.

Roxanne released a shuddering breath and spun around, grasping my hands. Her palms were damp with nervous sweat.

"I ruined your life, Seraphina." Tears began pooling in her eyes.

"Yes," I replied honestly. We both understood the reality of what had happened.

"When I see Elena, I can barely breathe sometimes. How could I have stolen those years with your daughter from you? How can you even bear to look at me?"

I pulled her up from the chair and wrapped her in a fierce embrace. Her racing heartbeat pressed against my chest.

"Because you’re my sister," I whispered. "And because I witnessed your transformation. I saw the exact moment you fell completely in love with my daughter, knowing she wasn’t yours. I watched you stop looking at my husband with longing in your eyes. Forgiveness isn’t about erasing the past, Roxanne. It’s about choosing to build something better in the future. And I choose you."

Roxanne wept against my shoulder for several minutes. It was a cleansing cry, the kind that washes away accumulated pain so healing can begin.

No words would ever completely ease her guilt, and she would have to live with the consequences of her choices. But at least she knew I had forgiven her, even though the memories remained.

When she stepped back, she dried her face and offered me a genuine smile. "Thank you, Seraphina. I don’t deserve your grace, but I’ll spend my life trying to be the sister you deserve."

"You already are," I assured her. "Now let’s get you into that dress. You have a warrior waiting for you."

The ceremony took place in the pack hall with the entire community present. Caleb stood at the front, and I had never seen him look so formidable. His fitted suit emphasized his powerful frame. He appeared carved from granite and steel. But when the music began and Roxanne appeared, his entire demeanor shifted. His eyes went tender, and I caught the slight tremor in his lips.

I understood his emotions better than most. I knew the ache of loving someone completely while they remained oblivious to your devotion. That kind of pain never fully disappears, even when happiness finally arrives.

Julian served as Caleb’s best man. As I escorted Roxanne down the aisle, he caught my eye and gave me a subtle wink. Familiar warmth spread through my chest. We were both incredibly proud of our friends.

When Roxanne reached Caleb, she took his hands. They stood close enough that their foreheads nearly touched.

"Roxanne," Caleb said, his voice rough with years of suppressed emotion. "I’ve known you were my mate from our first meeting. I watched you lose yourself in darkness, and I waited in the shadows for you to find your way back to the light. I never stopped believing in you. And I never will."

Roxanne cried openly now. "Caleb, I was completely blind. I chased after fool’s gold when I already had treasure. I promise to be your partner, your protector, and your heart. I promise to love you with every part of myself, and never let darkness divide us again."

In our world, mating ceremonies involve more than spoken vows. They require the physical bond. Caleb leaned forward and exposed his teeth. He bit firmly into Roxanne’s neck, right at her scent gland. It was a decisive, claiming bite. Roxanne didn’t flinch. She gripped his shoulders and released a soft sound of pleasure before returning the mark.

The mate bond snapped into place with stunning clarity. Every pack member felt the connection form. It was the sensation of two souls finally merging into one.

The pack erupted in celebration. Warriors struck their weapons against the ground, creating sounds like rolling thunder.

The festivities that followed were joyous and wild. Tables groaned under roasted meats, honeyed wine flowed freely, and music filled the air with irresistible rhythms.

From the main table, I watched Roxanne and Caleb in their private bubble. They shared food from the same plate and whispered intimately to each other. They looked perfectly matched, like puzzle pieces finally fitting together.

Theo and Elena raced around with the other pack children. Theo brandished a wooden sword while Elena demonstrated how to make her hair shimmer slightly. Their laughter rang out across the celebration.

Julian settled beside me and wrapped his arm around my shoulders. He offered me a cup of wine.

"You did something incredible, Seraphina," he said.

"What do you mean?" I asked, settling against his warmth.

"Look around," he said, gesturing toward the festivities. "Look at Roxanne. Years ago, she was completely lost. Now she’s a mated woman and a leader. You gave her the opportunity to grow, to change, and to heal."

"I’ll never forget what she did, but I’ve forgiven her. And I truly want her to be happy."
