Chapter 240: Waste is Shameful

The old, weak, sick, and disabled team?

’It’s just a team with old people and children, isn’t it? Where are the sick and disabled?’

Xie Ning rolled her eyes at the little boy downstairs.

’That guy Cres really has some nerve!’

By now, the numerous Superpower Users had already cleared out the zombie horde ahead. Although a steady stream of zombies still rushed toward the stairwell after hearing the commotion, it was hardly a problem for them.

The Superpower Users from several teams gathered together, feeling that killing these Initial-stage zombies took almost no effort.

Unleashing their powers, they could wipe them out in swathes.

The group of survivors following them all stared wide-eyed, muttering in disbelief.

"Last time, Zhong organized over fifty people, and they couldn’t even get to the second floor. They lost nearly half their group, too."

"So it’s this easy for Superpower Users to kill zombies." The old woman who spoke swallowed, a hint of envy in her eyes.

She raised a hand and slapped her grandson beside her hard, urging, "You need to learn from these capable big brothers and sisters and awaken your superpower as soon as possible. Our family will be counting on you to give us a better life."

The teenage grandson looked unconvinced. "It’s not like you’re guaranteed to awaken a superpower just because you’re young."

After the Superpower Users dealt with the horde of zombies crowding the second-floor entrance, a few Fire Ability Users threw Fireballs down, burning the zombie horde to ash.

Then, their faces showed disappointment.

"No Crystal Cores."

"They really are just some Initial-stage zombies."

"Upstairs!" someone shouted. "The fifth and sixth floors are the food court! Let’s charge up there!"

"Everyone, don’t use up too much of your superpower," Zuo Li said with a frown. "Be mindful of your superpower energy. That young foreigner just said there are at least three thousand more zombies waiting for us."

"Captain Zuo, what do you suggest?"

"I think each team should first send out three coordinated Superpower Users to lead the attack. The rest of us can kill zombies using simpler methods. The remaining Superpower Users should conserve their strength and energy, and we can form several groups to rotate."

"Don’t forget, besides the zombies in this building, there are many more inside the shops of the outer shopping center that we need to handle."

"Alright, we’ll do as Captain Zuo says."

"Let’s do this!" Everyone roared, pumping their fists.

Xie Ning also pumped her fist, pretending to join in the cheer. But as the rowdy crowd moved toward the third-floor staircase, she quietly slipped out of the group.

She really had little interest in killing these small-fry that had no Crystal Cores.

After leaving the group, she started wandering through the second-floor electronics section.

"Ningning, that pot of Suppression Grass is very strange," Yu Tianfeng said, walking over to her. "It seems to be absorbing the Crystal Core."

Xie Ning wasn’t surprised at all. "That’s how it is. Mutated plants and animals grow by absorbing energy. They’ll take any energy they can get, whether it’s from humans or other mutated plants and animals."

The young woman glanced at the man. "So you’d better be careful not to get drained."

Yu Tianfeng flashed a grin. "Don’t worry, that little plant can’t cause any trouble."

"We aren’t Wood Element Superpower Users, so we can’t use Wood Energy to naturally make these plants grow. If you want to raise it, you’ll probably have to keep feeding it Crystal Cores."

Yu Tianfeng nodded. "Then let’s try raising it for a while and see."

"Hey, woman! I’m starving!"

Xie Ning checked the time. It was just after two.

"Don’t you have food in your backpack?" Xie Ning shot him a look.

"Food? Like hell I do. You have to give me something sweet right now. I feel awful, uncomfortable, I think I’m suffocating."

Xie Ning fished a small piece of brownie out of her bag and tossed it to the boy.

"That’s it??" ’And this isn’t even the fresh-made brownie from the ship; it’s that lame stuff they sell in supermarkets.’

’This tiny piece wouldn’t even get stuck in his teeth.’

Xie Ning took out two meat floss rice balls from her bag, stuffing one into the little boy’s hands and the other into Yu Tianfeng’s.

"Just eat it and stop your nonsense."

She herself took out a vegetable bun and started munching on it.

This homemade food had been cooked fresh at her grandmother’s house and stored, still hot, in her Space.

When she took it out now, it was still piping hot.

The blond boy’s mouth was stuffed with the hot rice ball, and he mumbled indistinctly, "Even though you’re a crappy person, this hot rice ball is okay."

"Ningning, you shouldn’t casually take out hot food in front of other people in the future," Yu Tianfeng reminded her in a low voice. "This homemade food is too conspicuous."

Xie Ning froze for a moment, then nodded, the realization dawning on her belatedly.

It had been a month since the apocalypse. Other people were getting by on things like instant noodles with hot water or dried radishes mixed with rice.

But she could pull out a pile of homemade hot food at any time.

’Yu Tianfeng was right. She really should be more careful when she’s outside.’

The two of them wolfed down their rice balls and then stared in unison at the bun in Xie Ning’s hand, which she had only taken a small bite of.

"Hurry up and eat, you’re so slow. You women are such a pain. At that speed, you couldn’t even catch shit while it’s still hot."

The corner of Yu Tianfeng’s mouth twitched.

Sure enough, he saw the young woman smack the boy on the top of his head.

"Don’t think you can spout whatever nonsense you want just because you know a sentence or two of Country C’s language."

Xie Ning threw the rest of her bun onto a dining table and, huffing in anger, turned and stalked toward the shops inside the mall.

"You only ate two bites?" The little boy followed behind her, chattering on. "We Superpower Users have huge appetites! How can you get by on just two bites? You should hurry and finish it while no one’s around."

"Shut up," Yu Tianfeng glared at him irritably. "After that disgusting thing you just said, how could she possibly eat?"

"What’s there not to eat?" Cres blinked, unwrapped the small cake, and stuffed it into his mouth in one go. "I can polish off three cakes while looking at rotting zombies!"

The largest store on this floor sold electric scooters.

Xie Ning stared at the hundreds of brand-new electric scooters, paused for a moment, and then collected them all into the underground garage within her Space. She stacked them against the wall, making sure they didn’t take up any room meant for cars.

Cres walked into the now-empty scooter shop, his eyes wide.

After a long moment, he gave her a thumbs-up. "Awesome!"

He went over to the open-front shop next door, hopped onto a hoverboard, and started gliding around. "Woman, collect these hoverboards too, so this young master can have something to play with when I’m bored."

Xie Ning took a look. These big-brand hoverboards actually cost three to four thousand each?

’Aren’t they just a few hundred bucks on sites like Amazon? Maybe she was just out of the loop...’

With a wave of her hand, Xie Ning collected them all. It would be a waste to leave them here anyway.

’Wasting something so expensive would be a disgrace.’

Xie Ning then browsed the electronics stores on both sides, collecting all the phones, tablets, and so on as she usually did.

As for laptops, she specifically took the brand-new, unopened ones from their inventory.
