Chapter 338 - 186: Prophet, Tribulation, The One of Destiny

Hearing the young Daoist’s words, Lin Feng was momentarily stunned. He quickly recovered and sneered,

"So, should I be celebrating in advance that I’ll even live to see this so-called judgment day?"

Despite facing a Tier Two Peak Powerhouse who was a whole tier stronger than himself, the Daoist showed not a trace of fear. His gaze remained calm and his expression serene as he said,

"Mm, your gear is very distinctive. Even if the visions of the future are blurry, this Serrated Heavy Sword and Pulse Cannon are still clearly recognizable."

With that, the Daoist began to introduce himself.

"My name is Zhang Tianming."

"I’ve had an Awakening and gained the Superpower of a Prophet, which allows me a glimpse into the workings of fate."

"In the near future, humanity will face a great calamity that threatens the very survival of our species. When judgment day arrives, several chosen individuals will emerge to face the disaster, becoming the Ones of Destiny."

"These Ones of Destiny will turn the tide, saving all of humankind from untold suffering."

Lin Feng’s eyes narrowed.

"Did you say ’these’? There’s more than one One of Destiny?"

Daoist Zhang didn’t hide anything. He extended four fingers from his gray-green sleeve and said forthrightly,

"In the visions I’ve foreseen, there are four people in total."

Hearing this, Lin Feng grew even more doubtful.

’If Zhang Tianming saw the Tier Four Cosmic Life that will emerge in the future, then aside from pure-human Tier Fours, there should only be Tier Four Hunting Kings who’ve Upgraded from being Genetic Warriors.’

’Even if, as Ling Yi had said, humanity could use the legacy left by the ancient Dinosaur civilization and Genetic Fusion technology to create Dragonman Warriors, that would still only make for three types...’

’So where did a fourth type of Tier Four Life come from?’

In that instant, Lin Feng began to question whether the man’s prophetic ability was truly accurate.

"You’re saying there will be four saviors?"

"But the future you claim to have seen isn’t set in stone. It’s merely a prediction based on the current state of affairs."

"So what are the odds of four ’Ones of Destiny’ emerging simultaneously?"

Daoist Zhang didn’t refute him. Instead, he pointed to the blind fortune-teller sitting on a cushion to his right.

"This fortune-teller, Master Jiu—or Mr. Jiu—has Awakened a Superpower closely related to his profession. He can calculate the probability of any event occurring."

"He has already performed two calculations regarding the final calamitous judgment, and both times the probability was over ninety percent. Now that I’ve met you, I believe that probability will only increase."

Lin Feng scoffed.

"So I’m supposed to become one of the four ’Ones of Destiny’?"

Daoist Zhang shook his head.

"I can’t see that. In the end, there are only four blurry sources of light. Unlike the individuals destined to face the calamity, the true Ones of Destiny are shielded by fate. With my current power, I am unable to pierce the layers of fog that conceal them."

"However, you have immense potential and a great opportunity. We can work together to become the Ones of Destiny who will save the world."

A flash of contempt crossed Lin Feng’s eyes. He raised the barrel of his cannon and aimed it at the Daoist.

"I’ve never believed in any of this destiny crap."

"My life is my own to control!"

"Since you haven’t hurt anyone, take your followers and get the hell out of Jin City."

"The fires of war will soon be lit here. Cowards unwilling to fight and sacrifice have no right to cower under my protection."

The Daoist showed no surprise at being ordered to leave. He simply said calmly,

"Rather than dying meaninglessly on the front lines, the most urgent matter is to find all the chosen individuals so we can devise a plan together..."

"I have waited here a long time for you. Now that I have my confirmation, I would have left on my own initiative to find the next chosen individual, even if you hadn’t ordered me to."

After speaking, Daoist Zhang turned to leave. At the doorway of the conference room, he glanced back at Lin Feng and the others.

"Mr. Lin, in four days, the summer monsoon will make landfall in Hai City. On the night of the fifth day, it will sweep through Jin City."

"I hope you can harvest as much of the early rice as possible before then. This coming winter will be harsh. Every life you can save matters."

"How many tons of rice would you say that information is worth?"

Lin Feng’s gaze was deep as he stared at the unremarkable Daoist before him. He spoke in a low voice,

"Take as much of the rice you harvested from the granary as you want. And then go as far away as you can."

Daoist Zhang nodded and smiled.

"Don’t worry. I’m heading north to the Federal Capital to meet the other chosen individuals."

"We’ll see each other at Hulao Pass."

With that, he led the few people behind him away without a backward glance. The rest of his followers rose and followed suit.

Only Liu Yueqi remained, tightly gripping her only living relative, the mentally broken Liu Ruojiao.

The woman, who was nearly thirty, had transformed from the sophisticated lady she once was. Now her eyes were vacant, her hair was a mess, and she seemed to have lost her mind.

She was currently muttering words like "judgment day" and "destined savior," constantly pushing at the niece who held her, trying to break free and follow the larger group.

Lin Feng slowly walked over and assessed her mental state. Her Spirit seemed only a little drained, but her behavior had become neurotic.

’It seems that charlatan had some restraint when performing Spiritual Extraction on his followers,’ Lin Feng thought. ’He didn’t drain the pond to get all the fish, but instead practiced a sustainable form of harvesting.’

When Lin Feng opened the Face Armor of his suit and revealed a face she vaguely remembered, Liu Ruojiao froze.

Then, her expression changed. She pointed at the man walking toward her, her whole body trembling as she said excitedly,

"It was you! It was you... I saw you! I saw you in the vision, too..."

Lin Feng’s brow furrowed. Liu Ruojiao’s words were packed with information.

’Could it be that after undergoing Spiritual Extraction and having information ’infused’ into them, these blind followers can share the visions from Zhang Tianming’s Superpower?’
