A chosen few, their genes awakened by the meteor shower, became Deviants, possessing extraordinary abilities. However, this power was not wielded responsibly. Instead of acting as saviors, the Deviants ascended to become overlords. Corrupted or intimidated governments aligned with these empowered individuals, condemning the rest of humanity to a life of fear and discrimination under a new regime.
