Electra's POV
The moment the voice said it was good to see me again, something in me snapped almost instantly, and I didn't even bother to hide my irritation as I let out a sharp scoff, my brows pulling together in clear annoyance. "Do you have a death wish or something?" I blurted out without thinking twice about my tone, my voice echoing slightly against the tiled walls as the water continued to pour over me. "Because I don't know what kind of idiot shows up while someone is taking a bath and thinks it's a good idea to start talking like this. And more importantly, why are you not showing yourself?"
My eyes moved around the bathroom again, trying to pinpoint where exactly the voice was coming from, but there was nothing there, nothing visible, nothing that I could grab or burn or force to reveal itself, and that only made my irritation worse because I hated not being able to see what I was dealing with.
The voice didn't seem bothered by my reaction at all, which only made it more annoying as a low chuckle filled the air, sounding almost amused by my anger instead of threatened by it. "Relax," the voice responded calmly, like we were having some kind of casual conversation instead of whatever this was. "I'm not in the room with you, so you have nothing to worry about. I can't see anything."
There was something about the way he said it that made me narrow my eyes slightly, not because I believed him, but because I didn't like the idea that he might be telling the truth. If he wasn't physically here, then what exactly was I dealing with?
Before I could ask, he continued, his tone still annoyingly calm, "You should step out already. Get dressed, and then we can talk properly."
Before I could respond, before I could even think of telling him to go to hell or show himself properly, the presence in the room disappeared completely, just like that, like it had never been there in the first place. The air returned to normal, the weight lifted, and for a second, the only thing I could hear was the sound of the water still running over me.
I stood there for a moment, my jaw tightening slightly as I processed what had just happened, and then I reached out and turned the water off with a bit more force than necessary. The sudden silence that followed felt strange, almost too quiet compared to what had just happened, and it only made the whole situation feel more real.
I grabbed a towel from the side without bothering to think too much about it, quickly drying myself off as my mind ran through everything that had just happened. Whoever that was, they weren't normal. The way their presence had filled the room, the way it had disappeared just as easily, none of it made sense in any ordinary way, and that only made me more curious despite how annoyed I was.
I wrapped the towel around myself loosely, not really caring about anything else as I stepped forward, my bare feet pressing into the glass shards still scattered across the floor. The pain came again, sharp and immediate, but I didn't stop. I didn't even flinch. The blood continued to stain the floor under me, but it barely registered in my mind as I walked out of the bathroom and into my room like nothing was wrong.
The air outside felt normal again, which only made me more certain that whatever that thing was, it had really left and wasn't just hiding somewhere nearby. I walked straight to my closet, pushing it open and scanning through the clothes without really paying attention to what I was looking at until my hand landed on a robe. I pulled it out and slipped it on quickly, tying it around my waist with a small tug before turning back toward the center of the room.
My eyes narrowed slightly as I looked around, my body already on alert again as I spoke out loud, my voice carrying a sharp edge. "If you can hear me, then show up now," I said, crossing my arms loosely over my chest as I waited. "And you better have a good explanation for what you are and why you thought it was a good idea to come anywhere near me."
For a brief moment, nothing happened, and I almost thought that maybe it wasn't going to respond again, which would have only made me even angrier than I already was, but then I felt it. That same shift in the air returned, just as sudden and just as noticeable as before, and this time, it didn't stay hidden. The energy gathered in front of me, twisting and forming in a way that made my eyes focus sharply on one spot, and within seconds, it started to take shape. I didn't move. Or make any attempts at all to take a step back. I just stood there and watched as whatever it was finally decided to show itself.
And then I saw it.
The moment my eyes landed on the creature standing in front of me, my expression changed instantly, my face twisting into something between disbelief and pure disgust as I looked it over without even trying to hide how unimpressed I was. It looked wrong, and that was the first thing that came to my mind.
Everything about it felt off, from the way its limbs seemed slightly too long for its body to the way its face looked like it had been put together without any real care for symmetry or sense. Its skin had an odd, dull tone to it, not quite human, not quite anything I could properly recognize, and its eyes… its eyes were the worst part. They seemed to gleam with something unsettling, something that made it clear that whatever this thing was, it definitely did not belong anywhere near me.
It looked like something that should not exist, or at the very least, should not be seen by anyone. That was just how hideous it was, which explains why it showed up with its voice first. If it had shown up looking like this while I was in the bathroom, I would have burnt it.
I let out a small scoff, my lip curling slightly as I looked at it like it was something I had just found stuck under my shoe. "Is that really what you look like?" I asked bluntly, not bothering to soften my words in any way. "I'm not going to lie, I expected better. With that voice, I thought maybe you'd at least look decent, but this…" I gestured vaguely at it with one hand, my expression not changing in the slightest. "This is just disappointing and also quite disturbing."
The creature didn't seem offended, which honestly only made it more irritating as it tilted its head slightly, a strange, almost snake-like smile forming on its face as it looked at me. "You don't like my face? Do I really look that bad?" it asked, its voice carrying that same calm amusement from before, like it found my reaction entertaining instead of insulting.
I scoffed again, this time louder, not even bothering to hide how unimpressed I was as I leaned slightly to the side, studying it like I was trying to figure out how something so ugly even existed. "Like it? Look bad?" I repeated, raising a brow as I looked at it again, slower this time, just to make my point clearer.
"You're easily the ugliest thing I've ever seen, and that's saying a lot. I've seen some strange things since I woke up, but you… you look like something straight out of a nightmare, like a really terrible nightmare where your face alone kills people."
I crossed my arms again, my gaze hardening slightly as I stared directly at it. "So whatever you are, and wherever you came from, you better make this quick, because staring at you is already ruining my mood even more than it already was, and trust me, you do not want to be around me when I'm in a bad mood."
The creature's smile widened slightly, but it didn't move any closer, and it didn't show any sign of leaving either. It just stood there, looking at me like it was trying to figure me out, like it had all the time in the world to stand in my room and exist in a way that I already couldn't stand, and as much as I hated to admit it, a small part of me was curious. Not about how it looked anymore, because that was already a lost cause, but about why it was here in the first place and how it even managed to reach me like this, but that didn't mean I was going to be patient about it.
"Talk," I said sharply, my voice breaking through the silence as I stared at it without blinking. "Or get out."
