Chapter 479 - 471: Tier 4 Pharmacist, Tier 1 Dragon Tamer

Yang Chan felt the Medicinal Power within him fading, but he hadn’t wasted any of it.

After such a long time without fighting, his enhanced Combat Power lingered for quite a while, nearly causing him to waste the Medicinal Power.

’Indeed, the desires etched into the human body always influence one’s choices.’

Normally, this wouldn’t have happened. His self-control was strong, and he could master the changes within himself.

After refining the Medicinal Power, Yang Chan continued to sit cross-legged, cultivating his spirit. It wasn’t long until midnight, and after a short wait, he would be able to allocate his points and level up.

He planned to stay within the Cyan Yuan Sect for the foreseeable future, waiting for the right moment to travel to the Merak Sacred Land.

’They’re here!’

Yang Chan looked at his panel and saw that his Potential Points had refreshed.

As soon as the Potential Points appeared, Yang Chan spent them all, reverting to his usual allocation strategy.

He allocated seven Potential Points to the Flood Dragon Demon Breath Method, one to his Sword Master profession, and one to the Tai Chi Health Cultivation Skill, using up all his points.

The panel before him showed considerable changes.

[Name: Yang Chan]

[Lifespan: 19/345]

[Talent: 30]

[Potential Points: 0.3]

He had used the large amount of Potential Points he had obtained to directly raise his Pharmacist profession to the Tier Four Masterful Realm, the equivalent of an Advanced Pharmacist.

Upon advancing his Pharmacist profession, a flood of memories from an Advanced Pharmacist entered his mind. It differed from his expectations, containing more than just memories related to Alchemy.

Clearly, this differed from the mainstream advancement path.

Perhaps it was because the Pharmacist profession wasn’t solely about Alchemy. It also encompassed healing techniques, identifying new herbs, and distinguishing the Medicinal Power of various Spirit Medicines.

However, the current mainstream focused on Alchemy, so a Pharmacist’s advancement was judged solely on that skill, while their other abilities were often overlooked.

This was a product of the times. An Advanced Pharmacist with a high Alchemy Ability was what suited the current era. But when Yang Chan used points to upgrade his Pharmacist profession, the scope of the knowledge he gained was much broader. These numerous memories flooded his mind, and he reaped significant benefits.

He had gained a wealth of knowledge about Alchemy, but turning that knowledge into true ability required hands-on practice. For that, Alchemy itself was the best method.

He could now attempt to create elixirs he hadn’t been able to refine before. In time, he would be able to produce even better elixirs, which in turn would increase his Daily Potential Point Collection and accelerate his progress.

Now that his Pharmacist profession was at Tier Four, the Potential Point cost for each percentage of proficiency was much higher. He had tested it, and the cost to raise it by a single percent was far beyond his expectations. This made him abandon the idea of investing more points for now.

Besides, an Advanced Pharmacist could already refine elixirs required by Inner Masters. He could even refine some of the elixirs needed by Bone Marrow Cleansing Grandmasters. This meant he didn’t need to level up his Pharmacist profession for the time being.

Of course, that didn’t mean he would neglect it entirely. He would still have to set aside time to read books on the subject, accumulate more experience, and incidentally increase his Pharmacist profession’s proficiency.

’Using the panel’s "force +1" effect to level it up should be more efficient and would save me a lot of Potential Points.’

He had also used his Potential Points to raise the Dragon Tamer profession to Tier One, which granted him some information about it.

The Dragon Tamer profession had an extremely high ceiling, as its growth was tied to the Dragon Race. If a Tamer found a compatible dragon and they grew together, both would advance at an incredible rate—fast enough to even break the Human-God Boundary.

The growth time for a compatible dragon would be shortened, and its potential would increase significantly. It was a true symbiotic relationship, a dance where each partner elevated the other.

The prerequisite, however, was finding a young, unmatured dragon. A fully grown one wouldn’t provide nearly as much of a boost.

This required a dragon with a physical body, which shattered Yang Chan’s plan to bond with the Black Dragon Soul Body. He had secretly tried, but a bond was impossible.

He had only managed to reach Tier One by forcing the upgrade with Potential Points.

Members of the Dragon Race were notoriously difficult to find, even more so in the Taiyu Divine Continent, where the Divine Veins had been destroyed.

Finding a young dragon was as hard as ascending to the heavens—no, to be precise, it was as difficult as breaking the Human-God Boundary.

The path was there, but the difficulty was unimaginable.

According to the Black Dragon, it was impossible for anyone in the Taiyu Divine Continent to break the Human-God Boundary.

After raising his Dragon Tamer profession to Tier One, Yang Chan only felt a faint boost to his Spiritual Power. It was clear the profession was heavily dependent on having a dragon to grow with.

Right now, he had no way of finding a member of the Dragon Race, let alone a hatchling.

His only hope was to join the Merak Sacred Land and use its resources to search for any trace of the Dragon Race.

Thankfully, the Dragon Tamer profession didn’t require a True Dragon for the contract. Relatives of the Dragon Race with sufficiently pure Dragon Blood would also suffice. The restrictions were a bit looser; otherwise, he might have abandoned the profession entirely.

For now, however, Yang Chan decided to put the Dragon Tamer profession on the back burner. It was useless to him until he actually found a young dragon.

When that time came, it would serve as another method for increasing his strength—a backup plan.

’There’s a huge gap between this and the Dragon Slayer profession,’ Yang Chan couldn’t help but complain internally. ’A Dragon Slayer gets the blessing of fate.’

’They’re both dragon-related professions, but the difference is massive.’

That Dragon Slayer had risen to power over the Jin Meng Empire and had now advanced to the National Guardian Martial Saint Realm. Even before his promotion, his Combat Power had been terrifying. He had clashed with a veteran National Guardian Martial Saint—the Grand Ancestor of Great Zhou—and nearly killed him. And that was a Martial Saint whose Realm hadn’t even declined.

Meanwhile, the Dragon Tamer profession was full of restrictions. Advancing to Tier One had barely yielded any effect, so he could only let it be.

His other profession, Sword Master, was advancing steadily. Barring any surprises, he allocated one Potential Point to it daily. This caused his Sword Momentum to grow ever stronger. He had previously used this very Sword Momentum to fight the Taiyin Saintess—an expert at the Peak of Internal Refining Grandmaster—to a standstill.

The Taiyin Saintess, relying on her Combat Power alone, had been completely unable to defeat him.
