Chapter 222: Ch-222: Update Complete

"Alright," Amber said, giving him a light kiss on the lips. She turned around, bent over, and pressed her large ass against his cock, her buttocks swallowing him between them.

They continued fucking until they were exhausted.

After they cleaned themselves up, Victor walked toward the living room with Amber and turned on the TV.

"I wonder how the aftermath is," Victor mumbled as he sat on the sofa, and the news started playing.

[Viewers, welcome to ’Daily Interviews.’ Today we have the Chairman of the World Awakeners Association, Mr. Lance, who will talk about the sudden invasion of the creatures known as the undead. Please welcome Mr. Lance.]

As soon as her words fell, the crowd inside the studio, as well as the audience watching from their homes, held their breath as a handsome middle-aged man arrived on the show.

"Vic, isn’t this the headmaster?" Amber asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Indeed, he is. It seems like he is also the Chairman," Victor said calmly. He was not surprised one bit, as Lance had also served as both the Headmaster and Chairman in his former life.

Victor watched as the host started with some pleasantries and finally got to the main point.

"Chairman Lance, currently the confirmed death toll has risen above the 10,000 mark, billions of pounds worth of property has been destroyed, and many of the Awakeners who went to aid everyone, whether willingly or forced by the Association, have indeed ended up dead. The public wants answers. Can they really rely on the Association to keep them safe, or can the Association be held accountable for forcing many Awakeners to their deaths?" the host asked.

As soon as those words fell, everyone looked at Lance with narrowed eyes, waiting for his reply. Lance remained very calm and even had an amused look on his face as he looked at the camera and replied,

"The Association has every right to deploy the Awakeners. If you are receiving benefits from the Association, naturally you have to obey its rules, just as any normal soldier would obey their superiors. The Association cannot be solely blamed. Many of them overestimated themselves and ignored the Association’s warnings not to act independently but to fight in groups, even against the weakest undead. Yet they still charged ahead recklessly."

Lance shrugged and then pressed a device, showing the audience footage of Awakeners acting arrogantly, charging headfirst into danger, and dying under the attacks of the undead. Sometimes they even dragged others down with them through their recklessness.

"Heh, that should shut up those sleazy reporters," Victor said with an amused smirk. He even noticed the host’s eyebrows twitch as her plan to stir controversy for views had failed.

"As for the concerns of the public, I would ask for your support and belief. Even though we are currently weak, that will not remain the same once we start leveling up after the game finishes updating. I believe humanity will prevail, and we will become stronger," Lance said while looking at the camera, and many of the viewers were convinced.

"There was another matter. How does the Awakeners Association plan to maintain control over the powerful Awakeners?" the host said with a smile, and Victor showed a cold smile, knowing where this was heading.

"Most of the powerful Awakeners are already guild masters and have agreed to form partnerships with the Association, so you don’t need to worry," Lance said, though his eyebrows twitched.

"What about Faceless? We have seen in the news what kind of power he holds. From what I know, not even the Association knows his true identity, and such an unstable factor could jeopardize public safety. What if one day he tries to play God or conquer the world?" the host asked.

"This woman..." Amber muttered, her expression turning frosty when she heard this.

"Calm down. This is common. I am 100% sure she has been paid by greedy and disgusting politicians. Even if we kill them, more will pop up. It’s better to ignore these insects," Victor said in an indifferent tone.

"I don’t think he will do that, and even if he does, the Association will stand against him," Lance said in a calm voice, and that seemed to shut up the host.

Victor shook his head as he lost interest in watching the interview and turned off the TV.

"Let’s retu—" Just as he was about to say something, his body stiffened as a new notification appeared not only on his retina but also before everyone on Earth.

[Akashic Records Announcement]

[Evolution Online has finished updating.]

[Players can now enter the game.]

[You can now enter the game with your real body and no longer require a VR device.]

[Please be advised that the real world and the game world have started merging. Dungeon appearances will become more frequent and will most likely occur on a daily basis.]

It felt as though the world had stopped working. There was a full minute of silence across the entire world before it erupted into an uproar, especially when everyone saw the last notification.

"Heavens, the real world and the game world are merging!" someone said, his eyes filled with terror and nervousness.

"Holy shit, does that mean those terrifying NPCs can one day reach Earth? How on earth will we resist them?" another person asked with even greater fear. Those nearby who heard him thought about it and also turned pale with fear.

"Damn, I’m more worried about the dungeons. What if a dungeon suddenly pops up while I’m driving to work? I’ll be completely fucked," another man said in terror.

While most people were panicking because of the sudden announcement, a few others filled with ambition had their eyes light up as they read the notification.

"Good. If the worlds merge, doesn’t that mean the world order will collapse and we can create our own kingdom?"

"Haha, brother, you’re right. I’m going grinding in the game."

"This will be the era of guilds from now on."

Woosh! Woosh!

One after another, people vanished from the streets until the whole street was deserted. It looked like a scene straight out of an apocalypse movie.

### Inside the Game

"Finally." Regal had also entered the game, and his blood was boiling with excitement. He could not help but want to rush out and start leveling up. Seeing Faceless become so strong had put immense psychological pressure on him.

Just as he was about to move, his pupils constricted to the size of needles when he saw a player being bisected by a monster. The most horrifying thing was that the player did not turn into pixels and vanish back to the real world. He simply lay there as a corpse.

*Don’t tell me...*

Regal immediately broke out in a cold sweat as a dreadful realization dawned on him. He looked around and saw many others with pale faces who had reached the same conclusion.

Everyone remained silent for a couple of seconds before one of them spoke hesitantly.

"Don’t tell me... we die for real now instead of our levels resetting to zero first," a timid female Awakener said. As soon as her words fell, many people began breathing heavily and broke out in a cold sweat.

"That seems to be the case," another player said with a tense expression.

After a couple of seconds, one of Regal’s guild members looked at him and bowed his head.

"Sir Regal, I apologize, but I don’t wish to remain an Awakener anymore. I’d rather live as an ordinary person than risk dying."

Regal merely nodded with a grim expression and did not say anything as he watched about 50% of his guild members vanish from the game world. The moment he confirmed the truth, he had known that many of them would leave, as not everyone had the heart or will to take such a risk.

*But even so, I expected more to leave... this is still good.*

Regal looked at the remaining guild members and appeared pleased.

"All right, everyone, let’s go," Regal said as he walked deeper into the territory of the magical beasts, with the others following closely behind.

### Silvernum Territory

Woosh.

Amber and Victor appeared right in the courtyard of his mansion.

"Finally, we’re back," Amber said with a sigh as she looked around. Nothing felt better than being home.

Amber then turned toward Victor and said, "Darling, we should go and meet Rina. I’m sure she’s anxious because you suddenly disappeared."

"You’re right." Victor nodded and started walking toward the mansion. After a few seconds, they saw Rina near the entrance.

As soon as she spotted Victor, her eyes lit up, and she walked toward him gracefully.

"You’re finally back. Where did you both go? You should have taken me along."

She said with a pout, her tone full of irritation.

"Well..." Victor and Amber looked at each other before they started explaining where they had gone.

Rina listened casually with her arms crossed, but as the seconds passed, her jaw gradually dropped, and her hands fell limply to her sides.
