Xylen blinked once. Then twice. Then a third time, and—
’What the hell...’
His gaze swept across the floating status window before him once again, his mind struggling to process what he was seeing.
’Is this... my stats now?’
He clenched and unclenched his fingers, the raw strength coursing through his veins feeling undeniably different—as if his very existence had been rewritten.
His breaths came slow and measured, yet his mind was a whirlwind of chaotic thoughts.
He had only checked his status out of curiosity, to confirm something simple—to understand why he had experienced such a sudden, overwhelming surge in power.
He had already gotten the answer. The massive XP boost was due to the level disparity between himself and the defeated boss, but...
Understanding it was one thing. Seeing the sheer scope of his transformation? That was something entirely different.
His level had soared from 5 to 10 in the blink of an eye, his stats had almost doubled across the board, and lastly, his skills had expanded and evolved, turning him into something that shouldn’t be possible.
No player, no matter how skilled or lucky should have stats on par with a boss of the same level.
And yet... he did.
Xylen slowly curled his fingers into a fist, his grip tightening. The power was real, entirely different than before.
Even without testing it, he could feel it. Every fiber of his being was brimming with an unnatural strength.
It was as though he had been forged into something greater.
’This is real.’
A strange exhilaration slowly bubbled up within him, his heartbeat accelerating in response.
His black eyes glowed faintly, a faint, mysterious light flickering deep within them.
However, before he could fully embrace this feeling, a sudden strange stillness crept into his awareness, and in the following second, he jolted himself back to the presence.
Everywhere was so silent at this moment.
It was a complete, unnatural, and overwhelming silence.
He tensed slightly, only finally noticing his environment since slaying Kaelrik.
Everywhere was so still.
His eyes narrowed and he hurriedly scanned his surroundings, brimming with questions about the eerie, deafening silence.
Then, his gaze landed on the figures around him—the villagers, the guards, the rebels, and even Lilith.
His breathing hitched in the following moment and he was greatly taken aback.
Right now, every single one of them was staring at him motionless, wide-eyed, and frozen in place... as long as they were still alive, even if barely.
It was as if their very souls had been yanked from their bodies, leaving only hollow shells behind.
Even those who had collapsed from their injuries and left with only a trace of their consciousness from the unbearable agony coursing through them gaped in utter disbelief, their gazes fixated on him.
Their expressions were vacant, their eyes hollow, and their mouths slightly agape as though their souls had been forcibly ripped from their bodies.
Their bodies trembled—not from cold or exhaustion—but from something deeper.
Seeing this, Xylen stiffened, unable to react for a moment.
He had been so absorbed in his thoughts and everything that had happened since the mission was completed that he had completely forgotten about where he was.
Then, like a crashing wave, realization dawned upon Xylen.
They weren’t just looking at him.
They were staring at him... all of them behaving as though they were in a dream
It was as if they had just witnessed the most incredulous thing to have ever existed in history.
This continued for what felt like an eternity, and Xylen was very certain it would continue like this if he did not do something, so, he thought for a second before suddenly, a mischievous look flashed on his face.
In the following second, he glanced at the distance with a strong, determined gaze.
His posture straightened like a javelin, shoulders square, and then finally...
"My People!"
His voice boomed without any forewarning, a thunderous declaration that directly shattered the suffocating silence, reverberating through the ruined village like the voice of a war god descending upon the battlefield.
The village flinched hard in the following second.
Then, as if waking from a trance, their eyes blinked rapidly, confusion flashing across their faces, and then...
"He..." A broken whisper left someone’s lips, barely audible.
Everyone staggered, their widening, and their gazes flickering between Xylen and the lifeless body of Kaelrik.
Disbelief. Complete and utter disbelief.
Kaelrik was dead.
And standing before the corpse, looking untouched—other than his torn and bloodied attire, exuding an aura so overwhelmingly monstrous, was Xylen.
The one who had slain the tyrant.
The one who had changed everything.
Xylen took a step forward, his presence alone commanding their undivided attention. His voice, low and steady, carried across the battlefield with an undeniable weight.
"As you all can see," he continued, his words laced with power, "this evil bastard who had always tormented you—who tormented my fief—has been sent to the abyss by me."
A collective shudder ran through the crowd, and they swallowed hard. But their gazes, wide and unblinking, continued locking on him, everyone silent.
Xylen stared at this, then his lips curled slightly, but his tone remained firm, unwavering.
"From now on, his reign of supremacy, dictatorship, and heartlessness has ended."
His words carved themselves into the very air, their weight suffocating.
"From now on, you are all free to live like normal people again. This village will no longer cower in fear but thrive with life, as it was meant to be from the start!"
His voice rolled across the village, echoing through every alley, every home, and every heart.
And then...
Silence.
A pin-drop, deafening, crushing stillness fell over them.
For a moment, no one breathed. No one spoke. No one moved.
It was as if time itself had paused, the enormity of his words sinking into their very bones.
But then—
A single, cracking voice cracked through the stillness.
"Long..."
A pause. A shaky inhale.
"...Long live Lord Xylenia!"
