Chapter 166: Collapse

Then—

Gravity exploded outward.

The earth around him shattered violently as dozens of monsters were crushed on the spot, their bodies bursting into bloody pulp.

"Move!" Lan Qishing shouted immediately upon seeing Sian fighting alone.

The helicopter was already close enough to the ground.

Using ropes—

Everyone leapt down into the battlefield.

And hell erupted once more.

Golden lightning tore through the sky like madness itself. Almost unconsciously, He Jinyun created a protective barrier around Sian, slaughtering every monster that approached him.

Blades of solid metal pierced through monster skulls.

Shadows devoured zombies from beneath.

Others fought using weapons—or their bare hands.

As for Kira—

She transformed once again into a terrifying killing machine amidst the bloodshed.

Moving fluidly between the monsters, harvesting lives with horrifying ease.

But this time...

It was harder.

Not because the monsters were stronger.

Or faster.

Or more savage.

But because all of them had already gone through a catastrophic battle only minutes earlier, their powers had yet to recover completely.

That was why their movements felt just a fraction slower than before.

A gigantic bird dove toward He Jinyun at terrifying speed.

But lightning instantly tore apart one of its wings.

Elsewhere, a mutated dog the size of a vehicle lunged directly at Kira.

She narrowly avoided its claws before crushing one of its eyes with a devastating punch.

"There are too many of them!"

Bruce roared while hurling a massive monster away.

But suddenly—

The ground shook.

Everyone froze.

Then...

Something enormous emerged from the smoke.

A bear.

But its size exceeded twenty meters.

Its body was covered in rotting flesh and black veins, while grotesque additional limbs protruded from its back.

And its roar...

Even the other monsters retreated from it.

"Shit..." He Jinyun muttered.

Then the monster charged.

BOOOOOOM!!

Buildings collapsed beneath its strikes.

Everyone attacked at once.

Lightning.

Metal.

Shadows.

Raw physical force.

The battle descended into absolute chaos.

But despite all that...

The monster was overwhelmingly powerful.

And in the end—

Sian stepped forward alone.

Blood slowly rose around him.

The blood of monsters.

The blood of animals...

Hundreds of zombies were crushed dry, every drop of blood forcibly extracted from their bodies until they collapsed like empty husks without even a single intact corpse remaining.

"Gege, stop using that power."

He Jinyun hated seeing Sian rely on that specific ability.

Its side effects were far too dangerous.

Using it once or twice was manageable.

But if Sian continued—

It could cost him his life.

He Jinyun gritted his teeth, and his lightning became even more violent as he slaughtered nearby zombies and feral beasts with only a few strikes.

Around Sian, gravity grew heavier and heavier.

Even the air itself began compressing violently.

Sian slowly raised one hand toward the gigantic bear.

Then—

The enormous beast collapsed onto its knees.

The ground shattered beneath it.

Its bones began breaking apart one by one amidst maddened screams.

Countless streams of blood burst from the bear’s body, spiraling around it like planetary rings orbiting a dying world—until those crimson currents finally abandoned the monster entirely and coiled around Sian instead, dancing endlessly around his body without ever touching him.

But Sian...

His face began turning pale.

Kira noticed it immediately.

"Captain!"

But no one answered her.

Blood spilled from Sian’s mouth once again.

And despite that—

He continued increasing the pressure.

"Explode."

BOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

The monster burst apart into gigantic chunks of flesh and blood.

Silence fell.

Then the remaining monsters began collapsing dead one after another.

But this time—

Sian suddenly staggered.

Lan Qishing’s eyes widened.

"Sian!"

His body fell forward—

Before Kira caught him immediately.

He had lost consciousness.

He Jinyun’s expression changed instantly.

"Damn it..."

"Is he okay?!" Lia shouted anxiously after noticing the dark expressions on both He Jinyun and Kira’s faces.

But suddenly—

He Jinyun pulled Sian from Kira’s arms and immediately turned away with him.

The two of them began walking off.

One of the ability users stepped forward angrily.

"Where are you going?!"

He stared at Kira and He Jinyun in disbelief while gripping his weapon tightly.

"There are still monsters and zombies throughout the city!"

He Jinyun slowly raised his cold eyes toward him.

"And?"

"Stay and help us! With your strength, things will end faster and more easily!" The man’s face was filled with desperate hope as he spoke. "If you leave now, people will die!"

Silence lingered briefly.

Then He Jinyun smiled mockingly.

"I don’t care."

Everyone froze.

They didn’t know this powerful man’s identity, but none of them had imagined his heart could be this cold.

Earlier, he had seemed cooperative—helping everyone throughout the battle.

So what changed now?

As for Kira—

She quietly stood beside He Jinyun, equally indifferent about continuing the fight.

Then, when everyone looked toward her, her soft voice rang out clearly.

"There is nothing more important than the Captain’s life."

"You people are insane!" the man shouted furiously. "You’re abandoning humanity for one person?!"

And in the next instant—

Lightning exploded violently around He Jinyun.

"Watch your mouth."

The atmosphere immediately became tense.

Even the members of the ability-user squad began preparing for a fight.

But Lan Qishing intervened quickly.

"That’s enough!"

Silence fell once more.

Lan Qishing looked toward the unconscious Sian.

Then he closed his eyes tiredly.

"...Go."

Several people froze in shock.

"Captain?!"

But Lan Qishing only exhaled slowly.

"Without him... we would all already be dead. There aren’t many monsters left. We should be able to finish the rest ourselves..." His gaze darkened slightly. "But his power is our greatest hope. He needs treatment first."

Heavy silence settled over the ruined streets.

Then He Jinyun finally turned away.

He boarded the helicopter while carrying Sian silently in his arms.

Kira followed behind him.

And as the helicopter ascended into the burning sky—

Lan Qishing remained standing amidst the blood-soaked city, watching it disappear into the distance.

Then he looked toward the remaining monsters surrounding him.

Slowly, he drew his weapon.

"Well then, idiots..." he said with a tired smile amidst the blood and flames.

"Let’s clean up the rest of this trash."
