Chapter 246: Bloodline Races

Remi’s prophecy ability was powerful, no doubt about that.

It also came with strict limits.

She could not foresee everything. Whether the restriction came from the ability itself or from Remi’s own level, she could only make broad predictions about a specific matter. Anything more detailed was beyond her.

For example, she knew a Divine Relic slept on Dusk Island.

She did not know which Divine Relic it was, nor where Dusk Island was located.

She knew Caelum would destroy the Empire.

She did not know the result would go far beyond that.

What Caelum intended to destroy was the entire world of Legend of the Empire.

During their later conversation, Caelum became rather curious about Remi’s background. She had repeatedly called herself the finest prophet of the Wind Whisperer tribe.

He could not help asking, "Wind Whisperer tribe?"

Remi explained, "Bloodline inheritors."

The origin of bloodline inheritors could be traced back to the era of the ancient kingdom.

Back then, alchemists were incredibly powerful. They did not merely create the seven Divine Relics. They also created quite a few races.

The alchemists extracted abilities from special class Danger Beasts and even super class Danger Beasts, then fused those abilities into human bloodlines, allowing them to be steadily passed down through inheritance.

That was what bloodline inheritors were.

Since their abilities differed from one another, history gradually shaped them into separate races after the ancient kingdom fell.

The Wind Whisperer tribe was one of them.

Members of this tribe possessed the ability to hear the voices of nature. The more unusual among them could awaken the ability to foresee the future.

Remi was one such special case.

The number of inherited bloodline races was extremely small, and it seemed to be shrinking even further. In terms of combat strength, however, every one of them was formidable.

With their abilities supporting them, bloodline inheritors generally possessed quite decent strength.

Caelum had not seen any information about this on the forum before.

This was his first time learning that bloodline inheritors existed, and it made him realize that the world of Legend of the Empire was far from as simple as it appeared.

Who knew what else those alchemists of the ancient kingdom had tinkered into existence?

He was beginning to suspect the ancient kingdom might have been destroyed by those people playing with things they should not have touched.

"That is all I can tell you."

After saying that, Remi began chasing him out.

Caelum looked at Remi as though he were looking at a treasure vault.

Remi’s little face tightened. She forced herself to stay composed and said, "Wh... what is it?"

"Interested in coming with me to search for the Divine Relics?"

"No."

Remi shook her head and refused.

"What a pity."

Caelum rose and pushed the door open to leave.

Only then did Remi remember something. She hurriedly warned him, "There is one thing I forgot to tell you. If the seven Divine Relics all appear in the world one day, remember this. No matter what, never let the seven Divine Relics gather in one place."

In that instant, a glint passed through Caelum’s eyes.

He had a feeling this would be the greatest gain of his trip.

"Why?"

Remi spoke with rare seriousness.

"If the seven Divine Relics gather, something terrifying enough to destroy the entire world might happen. The fall of the ancient kingdom seems to have been connected to it. I know you are very, very strong. Strong enough that no one can force you to do anything."

"So if one of the Divine Relics ends up in your hands, then no one can take it from you. Since you want to destroy the Empire, I think you must be a good person. You definitely would not want to see this world destroyed, right?"

Remi tried hard to sound like an old and seasoned adult.

In the end, she was still only a child.

Her thoughts were so innocent and straightforward that they almost seemed endearing.

Caelum smiled, the curve of his lips carrying a meaning she could not read.

"I understand."

"Then have a safe trip. I will not see you out."

Remi thought that as long as one Divine Relic fell into Caelum’s hands, it would be absolutely impossible for any bad person to gather all seven.

That way, the world would be safe.

The present was different from ancient times.

If the seven Divine Relics truly gathered, there would be no ancient alchemists left to stop the world from walking toward destruction.

Having contributed her part to protecting the world at such a young age, Remi could not help feeling proud of herself.

Once that pride passed, she packed her luggage with practiced speed and ran.

After that, Caelum set out on the journey to search for Dusk Island.

During this time, the aftermath of the Blackwood City Incident continued to expand with no sign of settling.

The imperial capital.

A special meeting was underway.

Marshal Garran of the Army was present among the seats. Marshal Evran of the Navy was overseas, so he was absent.

At the front of the room, seated opposite Marshal Garran, was an enormous fat man covered in gold and silver. Gem rings filled his fingers, and impatience sat heavily across his face.

He was the Empire’s minister.

The emperor trusted him above all others, and his authority reached the heavens. His power was second only to the emperor’s.

Because the emperor was lost in pleasure and ignored affairs of state, many matters of the Empire were handed to the minister to handle. In practice, this meant the minister could often exercise the emperor’s authority directly.

He could issue orders in the emperor’s name.

The man was sinister, greedy, tyrannical, and arrogant. A typical noble through and through. He viewed commoners as ants and livestock.

Many policies and tax laws that oppressed and exploited commoners came from his hand.

He was the person the Empire’s common people hated most.

Without exception.

Although the minister’s influence was at its peak, the two Grand Marshals did not need to care about his mood.

Garran and Rovaryn were nobles of the martial faction in the truest sense.

They were powerful themselves, and their families held enormous influence, with plenty of high level fighters under them. More importantly, they controlled the command of the Army and Navy respectively.

If the minister dared go to war with them, they really could tear him apart.

In the end, the Empire was still a nation ruled mainly by force.

Authority was only an attachment.

The seats below Marshal Garran and the minister belonged to the various Legion Commanders.

Theron, the First Legion Commander, was absent.

Only four people were seated there.

Those present were the absolute core of the Empire, as well as its top combat power.

"How long are we supposed to wait?"

Displeasure showed on the minister’s face.

At that moment, a handsome and bright looking young man walked into the meeting room.

He was Knox, an S rank core member of AXN.

A very steady and reliable person.

His luck was simply rather poor.

He had crossed paths with Caelum twice before.

The first time was in the world of Super Universe. After meeting up with Derek and Guy, Caelum had promptly smashed their guild stronghold to pieces.

The second time was in the World of Curses. Caelum killed him twice in succession, giving him the rare experience of returning for a second round.

This was the third time he had entered the same game as Caelum.

Fortunately, this time, Knox had entered the world of Legend of the Empire much earlier than Caelum.

After accumulating enough military achievements, he had now become a newly risen noble of the Empire.
