Chapter 280: Path of Destiny

"Eat!"

In the living room, Aurelius had caught Fluffball and was making a racket over something. The moment he said the word eat, Fluffball’s round body gave a violent shudder.

Caelum leaned over.

"What are you two doing?"

Aurelius had a chess piece in his hand. He leaned against the wall with the ease of an old master, relaxed and without the slightest pressure.

"Playing chess."

Caelum took a closer look.

Good grief.

They had simply set the chessboard on the floor. Every piece on it was clear and bright like a gemstone, and inside each one spun a brilliant galaxy.

Aurelius flicked his finger and knocked out Fluffball’s queen.

The galaxy inside that piece was crushed cleanly along with it.

Then Caelum looked again.

The king placed in front of Fluffball was none other than its home, the Astryx Empire in the Orion Arm of the Milky Way.

Right now, Fluffball was trembling all over, its fur shaking loose and scattering across the floor.

If its king was checkmated, its home would be gone.

Caelum was taken aback.

"Playing this seriously?"

Aurelius chuckled.

"This kid wanted to sign me to its company, so I played this game with him. If it can beat me, I will sign."

Caelum had nothing to say for a moment.

This kid really had guts.

Signing a half step Transcendent expert into its company as an employee?

Then again, it was hard to blame Fluffball. Aurelius’s appearance was genuinely misleading.

With Aurelius’s strength, half a step above the Dao, the only person who could beat him was Caelum himself.

Fluffball had ridden a tiger and could not get off.

Its home was already on the chessboard. Whether it wanted to keep playing or not was no longer up to it.

It turned its tearful eyes toward Caelum.

"Big brother!"

Caelum ignored it.

This kid felt uncomfortable all over if it did not court death every few days. Caelum had no interest in cleaning up after it.

He went straight out the door.

"You two take your time. I am going out for a walk."

"Big brother!"

Fluffball fell into despair.

New Kirk was still the same as ever.

Some time had passed, and more and more game characters had gathered here through invasion phenomena. In contrast, the other cities had become much calmer.

New Kirk, however, had grown even more chaotic.

A pile of wildly imaginative lunatics caused trouble every day, each one blasting things apart here and there. It was lively beyond belief.

Fortunately, no invasion phenomenon beyond the standard had appeared during this period.

Earth had not been blown apart like last time.

Overall, things could still be considered peaceful.

"It has been a long time since I wandered through the Endless Sea of Universes."

Since he wanted to go, he went.

With a thought, Caelum appeared in the Endless Sea of Universes.

He looked down over the sea of universes, moved through the river of time, and took everything in.

During the time he had not interfered with the Endless Sea of Universes, it had gone through tremendous changes.

He still remembered Azur’s rise back then.

That man had cut down the heavens, cut down the earth, and cut down the universe.

After succeeding through destiny, he severed destiny itself. At the cost of destroying the fused universe, he became the first expert in the Endless Sea of Universes to ascend to the Realm of Ruin.

Strictly speaking, Caelum indeed had not been the first to ascend to the Realm of Ruin.

When he entered the Endless Sea of Universes, his strength had already stood above the Realm of Ruin.

He had never experienced that stage.

After stepping into the Realm of Ruin, Azur had resolutely swung his sword at Caelum.

The result was that Caelum erased him with ease.

Azur had died, but the shattered fused universe became forbidden lands drifting throughout the Endless Sea of Universes.

The lingering aura of the Realm of Ruin within them drew countless powerful beings inside, fearless of death, all seeking the slightest chance to break into a higher Realm.

In the end, that group really did devise a method.

They began killing one another and seizing the destinies of other universe level experts.

Every expert who could step into the Endless Sea of Universes was a chosen one of some universe.

That also meant they carried most of that universe’s power.

As long as they kept taking the destiny power of other universes and made themselves bear the power of more universes, they would naturally advance further and become stronger.

Based on this, if one then used the destiny power of many universes in a single stroke to break through the shackles of Realm and step into the Realm of Ruin, that strength would surpass Azur’s.

Azur had cut away the destiny of the fused universe to attain the Realm of Ruin.

But no matter how one looked at it, the fused universe was only the volume created from several merged universes.

How could it compare with the scale of hundreds or thousands of universes?

Once those bearing the destinies of thousands or even tens of thousands of universes stepped into the Realm of Ruin, their strength would naturally far surpass Azur’s.

He had opened this path, but he was not its strongest.

The flow of time in the Endless Sea of Universes was different from that of Earth’s universe, and the difference was enormous.

Not much time had passed on Earth, yet the Endless Sea of Universes had already gone through vast changes.

The Path of Destiny and the Path of Ruin had both been developed to an extremely complete and distant stage.

Some even gathered the destinies of ten thousand Daos upon themselves, then cut them all away in one morning, stepped into the Realm of Ruin, and entered the ranks of the top experts of the Endless Sea of Universes.

After countless years, more than one or two had reached such strength.

Under this flourishing age, the Endless Sea of Universes entered an Immortal Ascension era at the height of prosperity.

Other power systems such as magic, secret arts, and superpowers were suppressed until they could barely lift their heads.

They were completely unable to contend with the Immortal Ascension system, which had opened the Path of Destiny and the Path of Ruin.

Now, the Endless Sea of Universes was in an age where Immortal Ascension flourished.

The sight of such prosperity made Caelum think back to the great age of the Immortal Ascension world.

Although it could not compare with the grand Immortal Ascension of The Infinite Realms, it had begun to show some signs of it.

At the same time.

Earth.

Derek and Guy had just finished clearing a certain game world and exited the game.

The two first looked at each other in silence.

For some reason, it felt unfamiliar.

Derek said in surprise, "The game world we cleared this time actually did not collapse?"

Never mind that the two of them had not entered the same game world as Caelum this time.

Even if they had been in Legend of the Empire, they would not have run into a world collapse plot.

Caelum had not destroyed the world this time.

Guy’s smile gradually became impossible to hide.

As if he had proven something to everyone, he laughed loudly with joy.

"Hahahaha, I told you. Those game worlds collapsing before was just coincidence. How could it have anything to do with us? This time, we can finally clear our names as the Double Calamities of World Collapse, right?"

Derek let out a long breath.

Ever since that title had been placed on his head, people in the guild had not dared to clear games with him.

It had made him extremely unpopular.

A miserable situation.

This clearance was enough to wash away their suspicion. For a moment, his whole body felt lighter.

Just then, a guild member ran over and shouted, "Derek, run! Prosper heard you exited the game, and he is already on the way here with a blade!"

"Again?"

At those words, Derek and Guy felt their scalps prickle.

They turned and ran.

Had they not only played a joke on him in the game world?

Did he really have to chase them with a blade until now?
