Chapter 35 - 035: Saving the 'Emperor' (Part 2)

[The elite Kasrkin team reacts faster than you can blink]

[As your warning leaves your lips, the sergeant's hellgun roars to life]

[Scorching las-fire erupts, penetrating deep into the surrounding forest]

[The other team members scatter into position. Melta beams and laser bursts criss-cross the snow in lethal patterns]

[In the forest directly ahead of the sergeant, a slender white figure over two meters tall leaps from the shadows, dodging the storm of fire with unnatural grace]

[You try to aim and shoot with your lasgun, but your sights can't lock onto the figure's fluid, agile movements]

[You grab several frag grenades, planning to use area-of-effect damage to force the target to stop]

[You pull the pins. Before you can throw, something unexpected happens]

[A few lines of broken Imperial Gothic emerge from the slender figure's mouth. It raises one palm and waves it back and forth, signaling a ceasefire]

[The sergeant doesn't cease fire. He signals the rest of the team to stay vigilant, watching for more xenos]

[The slender figure in the narrow, elongated helmet has no choice but to keep jumping and dodging las-beams while struggling to speak Imperial Gothic]

[It claims the destroyed supplies were a personal error in judgment]

[It comes from the Eldar, sent by Prophet Taldeer to warn Imperial allies]

[The greenskin Warboss Gorgutz and the Chaos Lord Crull have formed a terrible alliance that poses an immense threat to Imperial forces]

[Massive numbers of greenskin orks and Khorne Berzerkers are assaulting the location of Emperor-class Titan Dominatus]

[Your team needs Eldar assistance]

[The sergeant dismisses this claim. His hellgun roars more frequently]

[You seize the opportunity to throw several frag grenades. The slender figure in white armor uses the explosion's concussive force to leap behind tall trees and vanishes from sight]

[The sergeant stops firing. Rather than blame you for acting rashly, he praises your talent as a grenadier]

[Third Week: Your team finally arrives at the location of Emperor-class Titan Dominatus]

[You look up, awestruck, exclaiming repeatedly]

[The towering Emperor-class Titan is a majestic structure comparable to a mountain range, a battle fortress with truly terrifying firepower]

[Your team joins other rescue teams and receives additional supplies]

[Through communication, the sergeant learns that other teams also encountered warnings from the Eldar]

[Teams that mistakenly believed the xenos were allies suffered heavy losses]

[Not just supplies and equipment, but the lives of Imperial soldiers]

[After a brief respite, you receive a gift from the sergeant]

[A set of carapace armor from another fallen Kasrkin squad. It will greatly improve your battlefield survivability]

[Before you can thank him, the roar of fierce lasguns and hellguns erupts all around]

[Countless greenskins gradually emerge from the forest's edge. The Khorne Berzerkers, even more terrifying than the orks, reveal their towering forms]

[The battle to defend Dominatus has begun]

[Fourth Week: Due to lack of maintenance and appeasement from Tech-Priests, the "displeased Machine Spirit" of the Emperor-class Titan cannot activate void shields]

[Only the Hellstorm Cannon and Laser Blaster mounted on the platform remain functional. After a more powerful Plasma Annihilator vaporizes a small warband of Khorne Berzerkers, it falls into standby mode and refuses to fire]

[To prevent irreparable damage to Emperor-class Titan Dominatus, all support teams must engage the surging greenskin horde head-on and maintain a defensive line]

[Your team forms a critical section of that defense]

[The numerous Khorne Berzerkers appearing among the greenskins seem to have identified you as their primary target]

[Every Berzerker that spots you releases a garbled roar, momentarily forgetting the eye-catching Emperor Titan in the distance. They charge at you, their "rabbit ear" helmet crests shaking with each step]

[After experiencing truly terrifying close calls, you survive through luck and skill]

[You gradually regain your composure and formulate a plan with the sergeant]

[Your squad will exploit your extraordinary "attractiveness" to the Berzerkers of Khorne]

[Lure them into disrupting greenskin formations while drawing them away from Imperial lines, then eliminate them opportunistically]

[From this point forward, a strange phenomenon appears on the battlefield]

[Whenever a Khorne Berzerker emerges, you bravely leap from the battle line, throwing grenades or firing shots to draw their attention]

[Each Berzerker roars and slaughters countless greenskins in their charge toward you]

[Then the entire team's focused melta and las-fire strikes the Berzerker's head or power pack, triggering violent explosions that kill dozens of orks]

[Cold with sweat but frantically calm, you return to the rear of Imperial lines, resupply ammunition, and wait for the next opportunity]

[Sixth Week: Your team gradually enters a state of numb exhaustion, leading to flaws in the plan]

[A severely wounded but still-living Khorne Berzerker breaks through the Imperial defensive line]

[The enemy causes massive casualties before reaching you for the first time up close]

[This time, you finally hear the garbled roars from their mouths clearly]

["Traitor..." The enemy calls you this through his burst helmet and flowing brain matter]

[You raise your hellgun and blow through his head]

[You are deeply confused by this]

[Before you can think deeply, countless greenskins who've broken through the front line are already upon you]

[Seventh Week: The Imperial rescue force has suffered catastrophic casualties and must retreat into Emperor-class Titan Dominatus itself, relying on remaining platform weapons to resist]

[Only three members of your team remain. You. The sergeant. One other]

[The sergeant has lost half an arm to greenskin choppas. He resists the enemy offensive through willpower alone]

[You subconsciously count the remaining supplies across all teams]

[You realize the entire rescue force is about to run out of ammunition and food]

[You attempt to contact the Imperial garrison to request reinforcements]

[You receive General Sturnn's grief-stricken reply]

[The Eldar heretics have torn up the short-lived alliance again and launched a frenzied assault on the Imperial base. The Cadian Shock Regiment has no more teams to deploy. He prays the Emperor will bless you]

[You end the communication and fall silent]

[You pick up your hellgun again, intending to detonate Emperor-class Titan Dominatus]

["If Dominatus cannot belong to the Master of Mankind, then no force shall have it," you mutter, your eyes cold and resolved]
