Chapter 471 - 340: Yang Sixuan (Part 3)

Here, there are only two cableways, one for entry and one for exit.

And at both of these cableway spots, there are guards stationed, and within a three-foot radius of the cableways, there is an Arrow Tower.

Outside the cableways, various mountain path choke points are also guarded year-round.

Duan Rong jumped off the cableway and was immediately warmed by the nearby blazing torch, causing his face to sting.

Duan Rong walked forward a few steps to get further away from the flames being stirred by the night wind.

Standing there, Duan Rong looked up and saw that on this mountaintop, fires were burning everywhere, appearing like flames of Hell in the dark night.

A tall Arrow Tower stood three feet away, faintly visible. Duan Rong knew that on the top of the Arrow Tower in the darkness, a pair of bright eyes were definitely staring in his direction.

Yang Yi and his group led Duan Rong along the mountain path.

As they walked, Duan Rong grew quite anxious; astonishingly, there were sentries stationed within several feet along the mountain path, and at each elevated point, there was an Arrow Tower standing in the darkness.

Torches and lanterns were standing everywhere, illuminating the entire mountain path brightly.

Yang Yi’s group brought Duan Rong to a stone wall.

On the stone wall, there was a large, black iron door, with two men holding knives standing on either side, and in the distance on both sides stood two Arrow Towers, standing opposite each other like peaks in the night.

Yang Yi appeared here, suddenly telling the group: "Escort him to the dungeon. Also, the cabinet goes to the dungeon’s evidence room. Tomorrow I’ll bring the Pharmacist to examine the contents."

After giving his instructions, Yang Yi pulled out a stack of booklets from the arms of a man nearby, which he found in the secret compartment of Shang Xiangyu’s stone bed, and hurriedly made his way further up the mountain path.

Duan Rong was brought into the dungeon.

Once inside the dungeon, Duan Rong was pushed into a cramped room where a thin middle-aged man, with long, agile fingers, began to search him.

All the scattered items in Duan Rong’s sleeve pockets and inner lining were extracted.

However, every item Duan Rong carried on him was carefully considered, ensuring nothing was revealing.

After the body search was completed, Duan Rong was locked inside a cell with stone walls on three sides, with the corridor made of round wooden bars.

Yang Yi, holding the stack of booklets, walked along the mountain path to a mountain hollow near the summit.

This mountain hollow was completely dark, unlike other places with blazing fires. There was only a single flickering light within a bamboo house.

This place was where Yang Sixuan resided.

The mountain hollow was planted with cultivated bamboo, giving a rather serene ambiance.

Yang Sixuan lived here, in a bamboo house he built with his own hands, and unless for urgent matters, no one dared to disturb him.

At this time, the sky was pitch black, with a single flickering light shining intermittently, marking Yang Sixuan’s time for nighttime reading.

At this hour, only Yang Yi dared to come looking for him.

Yang Yi stepped onto the bamboo staircase of the bamboo house, which issued a faint creaking sound as he tried to tread lightly.

Yang Yi glanced up; the window of the bamboo house was closed, but the door was cracked open a bit.

Yang Yi lightly knocked three times on the door. After pausing for two moments, without waiting for a response from inside, he slid open the door and walked in slowly.

In the middle of the room, on a desk, sat a dim candle, its flame the size of a bean, with Yang Sixuan sitting before the desk, reading a yellowed ancient book.

Yang Sixuan was already over fifty years old, but his hair was well-groomed and ink-black with not a strand of white, his forehead was full, and his eyes were filled with inner brilliance. His chin had an angular line, and if not for the dense crow’s feet at the corners of his eyes, which slightly revealed his age, he could easily be mistaken for someone just past thirty.

Despite the noise Yang Yi had made, Yang Sixuan did not need to look up to know who had arrived. "What’s the matter?"
