Chapter 500 - 351: To Step Onto the Altar or Not?

Under the immense pressure of the Divine Soul, these registered disciples felt incredibly uncomfortable. However, it wasn’t long before they began to move their bodies arduously, like zombies, stumbling slowly forward.

Their Divine Souls, under such pressure, seemed to lose the ability to control their bodies fluidly.

Duan Rong and his group of four were in the middle of the team.

Duan Rong’s Divine Soul was strong, and his perception was more delicate than that of the other registered disciples around him.

He clearly sensed that with each step forward, the descending soul pressure increased imperceptibly. Although the increase was small with each step, adding up along the way made it quite significant.

As the group moved forward, some people began to tremble uncontrollably.

Soon, someone at the front of the team began to cross the white line. Crossing the white line meant passing the first test.

But just because you’re at the front doesn’t mean you gain an advantage.

Because the strength of the Divine Soul at the white line is constant; anyone who can endure the soul pressure there can cross it.

On the contrary, it simply can’t be done. There’s no room for tricks!

Among the first group of people, there was a pale and frail-looking young man who saw he only needed one more step to cross the white line.

He looked at the line on the ground, seemingly made of white chalk, and his eyes subtly moved.

Once he crossed this line, the first test would be passed!

He slightly raised his right foot, but at the moment he lifted it, an immense fear surged from deep within his soul.

That fear was like an abyss, instantly engulfing him, even shattering him.

Death! It was death!

That fear resembled death, and it felt so real.

In fact, at the moment he lifted his foot, his body only leaned forward slightly.

Yet, at that moment, his soul could have shattered, leading to his death, but the music from Jiang Hanyan on the altar saved him.

Although he didn’t know it was Jiang Hanyan’s music that saved him, that death-like fear filled his entire body so palpably.

His face turned almost instantly pale, void of any blood. His senses told him not to go further, even half a step more would invoke immense fear.

But the white line was right in front of him, between inches, how could he give up?

To give up and return home in disgrace?

The young man’s face, drained of color, had two dark eyes full of hesitation and confusion.

Yet, looking at three people who had crossed the white line and continued moving slowly, a sharp look flashed in his eyes.

Maybe there’s truly no problem?

Maybe that death-like fear is merely an illusion, a heart demon, crossing this step would break through the barrier!

He suddenly bit his lip, letting that terrifying feeling swallow him, and with a fierce look in his eyes, he took half a step forward, with the tip of one foot already on the white line’s edge.

At the moment his foot touched the ground, he suddenly felt a sensation of being pulled away, everything before him became a blur, and he fell to the ground with a thud.

As he lost consciousness and fainted to the ground, a figure swiftly, like a phantom, flickered beside him, picked him up, and dashed out of the group.

The person carried the unconscious young man out of the group and placed him beside a large green stone on the ground, where three people were already lying, all unconscious and unaware of the world.

On that large green stone, the leader of the inspectors for this test held the Copper Chime in his hands behind his back, scanning coldly at the group of registered disciples struggling to move forward.

Many registered disciples hadn’t even reached the vicinity of the white line before fainting and falling.

And some just moved a little further, stood there, hesitating with fear evident in their eyes.

Duan Rong and his group of four were also close to that white line.

As Duan Rong walked, he occasionally observed Xiao Yu’s condition.

After struggling along this relatively short distance, Duan Rong could see that Xiao Yu had the weakest Divine Soul among the four.

He was somewhat concerned at the moment, wondering if Xiao Yu could cross the white line.

Seeing the white line not far ahead, Duan Rong intentionally slowed his pace and stayed behind on Xiao Yu’s left side.

Xiao Yu saw Duan Rong from the corner of her eye, and a warm feeling surged through her heart.

She knew Duan Rong was afraid something might happen to her, so he followed behind her.

"Focus your attention," Duan Rong whispered as a reminder, "Relax your body. Concentrate your focus."

Xiao Yu responded lightly, her eyes focused, and she tried adjusting as Duan Rong advised.

She slowly moved toward the white line.

Seeing Xiao Yu slowly cross the white line, they both let out a breath of relief.

Xiao Yu wanted to turn her head to smile at Duan Rong, but her weak Divine Soul, combined with the strong soul pressure, made her body stiff, unable to move freely.

Duan Rong slightly turned his head to see that Ximen Kankan and Shen Mizi had also crossed the white line.

At this moment, he also stepped over the white line.

Looking up, he saw that not many figures had crossed the white line.

Near the white line, the figures had already started to thin out, while the figures further back were denser.
