Chapter 527 - 8: Collective Unconsciousness, Alaya Consciousness

Wang Shu’s dreamscape was unexpectedly desolate.

Although Wang Shu is the Moon Eclipse God, she was born with a fifteenth of the Moon God’s authority.

However, she was not one of Chang Xi’s twelve daughters reincarnated, but was born from the ambition of Celestial Emperor Hao, the most ferocious embodiment of the lunar phases.

With a ferocious nature, coupled with the physiological age of just one year...

Wang Shu, who appeared indifferent on the surface, was actually more afraid of loneliness and solitude than anyone, and more dependent on Li Boyang than he had imagined.

Even in nightmares, Wang Shu’s greatest fear was being abandoned by Li Boyang.

So when Li Boyang saw the little girl crying under the laurel tree, he couldn’t help but be moved again.

However, despite being moved, Li Boyang hadn’t forgotten that this was just a dream.

The little girl crying under the laurel tree was not the real Wang Shu, but a manifestation of the negative emotions Wang Shu consciously or unconsciously accumulated deep in her soul.

She was the personification of her fear of loneliness and solitude, and also the side Wang Shu least wanted others to see.

"Little Wang Shu, look at what this is?"

Appearing silently beside little Wang Shu, Li Boyang smiled and waved the pinwheel in his hand.

"Teacher?"

Upon hearing Li Boyang’s voice, little Wang Shu hurriedly stood up.

Then, with a shy yet timid gaze, she cautiously observed Li Boyang.

Only when Li Boyang proactively handed the pinwheel to her.

Little Wang Shu finally broke into a smile through her tears, completely forgetting why she had been crying before.

Seeing this, Li Boyang had no intention of waking her up, but instead took her little hand in his.

"Little Wang Shu, the teacher will take you to a fun place next, alright?"

With a dazed nod, little Wang Shu held Li Boyang’s hand with one hand while playing with the pinwheel in the other, paying no attention to the shifting surroundings.

Hu!

Li Boyang exhaled a mouthful of clear Qi.

The solitary, desolate surroundings began to change like a kaleidoscope.

Complex and magnificent colors flashed rapidly but could not form any complete object.

It was as though a large bucket of paint had been thrown onto a canvas, with the fantastical and strange colors becoming the main theme of this dreamscape.

In this bizarre dreamscape, only Li Boyang and little Wang Shu remained in their complete forms, appearing out of place in this world.

This showcased the difference between the Wandering God and Controlling Qi and general dreaming methods.

Relying on the divine power of Wandering God and Controlling Qi, Li Boyang could not only manipulate the changes in others’ dreams at will like "lucid dreaming."

But he could also perceive the slightest changes in the dreamscape, peering into the reality behind it.

Dreams are sometimes more than just dreams.

...........................

As the dreamscape continuously changed like a kaleidoscope.

The divine power of Wandering God and Controlling Qi, exerted by Li Boyang, quickly reached its peak.

Thus, as all memories and miscellaneous thoughts belonging to Wang Shu were stripped away, the things hidden within those memories and thoughts revealed their true nature.

It was a massive, secret realm capable of connecting all living beings.

Though just a mere embryo now, Li Boyang could already foresee its grand prospects.

[Collective Unconscious?]

An involuntary thought flashed through his mind.

Li Boyang couldn’t help but recall a widely circulated psychological concept from his past life.

On the Earth of Li Boyang’s previous life, the famous psychologist Carl Jung proposed that the human psyche’s structure was not limited to just the "conscious" (perceivable thoughts, emotions) and the "personal unconscious" (repressed, forgotten memories and desires from an individual’s acquired experiences).

Beneath these, there existed an even deeper, more ancient psychological domain.

This domain comprised "psychological remnants" accumulated through humanity’s long evolution, timeless and shared by all, transcending individual differences and cultural boundaries as a "psychological archetype library."

These "remnants" were not acquired through later learning but inherently present in each individual’s psyche like biological heredity, as "psychological genes."

They determined the common cognitive patterns, emotional responses, and behavioral tendencies of humans.

The fear of darkness...

The reverence for heroes...

The dependence on parents...

Even some sort of supernatural cultural commonality...

For instance, developing the same customs and cultures despite living in different environments, illustrating the "collective unconscious"’s influence on individuals.

Alternatively, in more mythological terms, it could also be referred to as "Alaya Consciousness" or "Tathagata’s Treasury."

Due to the fantastical nature of this concept.

Even on the Earth of his past life, this was a controversial psychological concept.

However, empowered by the ability of Wandering God and Controlling Qi, Li Boyang now captured the "Alaya Consciousness" lurking within the collective unconscious of all living things.

Compared to the psychological "collective unconscious."

This "Alaya Consciousness" was evidently more powerful and possessed greater subjective initiative.

Li Boyang wasn’t even sure if this "Alaya Consciousness" within the subconscious of all living things was man-made or naturally formed.

"Or perhaps both?"

With a simple calculation, Li Boyang skeptically looked towards the entrance of the "Alaya Consciousness."

Uncertain if it was just his imagination, Li Boyang felt that the entrance seemed to deliberately welcome him.

"Interesting, I shall see who’s behind all this."

Without any hesitation, Li Boyang took little Wang Shu’s hand and stepped into the entrance of the "Alaya Consciousness."

Compared to little Wang Shu’s dreamscape.

The "Alaya Consciousness" formed by the collective unconscious of all living things was more chaotic and strange.

Upon stepping into the "Alaya Consciousness," Li Boyang seemed to experience billions of years of time, witnessing the transformation and evolution of all living things.

Yet, this transformation and evolution lacked the conventional sequence of time, instead resembling traces left by fleeting biological existences.

Gorgeous colors could be seen everywhere...

Dreamscapes defying common sense and logic flashed by...

Despite having mastered the divine power of Wandering God and Controlling Qi, Li Boyang felt a touch of obscurity and disorientation.

If it were anyone else on this journey instead of Li Boyang, they would likely be lost in the "Alaya Consciousness" by now.

"Teacher? What is this place?"

Holding onto Li Boyang’s hand tightly, little Wang Shu curiously inspected the constantly changing surroundings.

Little Wang Shu could feel her connection to the "Alaya Consciousness," as if she were its master.

However, the issue arose there.

Little Wang Shu was the master of the "Alaya Consciousness," but merely one among its countless other masters.

The supreme being truly reigning over the "Alaya Consciousness" was deliberately approaching little Wang Shu and Li Boyang.

They were formless and intangible, born from the subconscious of all living things.

Yet now, they were manifested by some indescribable entity and became the Demon King, symbolizing the desires and evil intentions of all life.
