Fu Kui was originally the Thunder Marsh God of the southeastern Kunlun Mountain.
With a dragon’s head and human body, mastering wind and thunder, he was the first among the new generation of Gods to touch the ceiling of the "Celestial God".
However, he was stuck at the final step of "Qi Refining and Divinity Transformation", unable to transform his Primordial Spirit into Celestial Disaster Thunder, failing to achieve the true Undying Yang God.
Fu Kui knew that his understanding of "God" was flawed.
With his innate supreme talent, Fu Kui could roam freely between heaven and earth in the phase where his Primordial Spirit turned into Yin Spirit, unfazed by the sun and the threat of thunder.
But because of this, the Yin Spirit that had not undergone tempering could never truly transform into Yang God.
Therefore, Fu Kui decided to head to the Hundred Li Mountain Range to seek teachings from the Tao Ancestor.
What Fu Kui never expected was that he would give birth to a Heart Demon at that time.
At first, Fu Kui thought it was just his own mental distractions, a mistake during his journey cultivating into a Yang God.
It wasn’t until that Heart Demon began expressing things he shouldn’t know that Fu Kui realized the opponent was an external Evil Demon.
[Heart and mind united, without distractions...]
[I say, your Primordial Spirit was wrong from the start, how can you embody the emotions of all things without distractions?]
[If truly nothing is born in your mind, with all thoughts extinguished, wouldn’t you become a dead wood or a dull stone?]
[Do you really want to give up all desires, turning yourself into a stubborn stone?]
[Being like me, acting as you wish and freely, that is the true purpose of cultivation!]
The towering dragon body strolled through the cloud marshes, and Fu Kui merely let out a carefree laugh.
"It’s your understanding of the Primordial Spirit that is too shallow."
"The Primordial Spirit is an innate glimmer of Spiritual essence, how can it be compared to dead wood or stubborn stone?"
"Moreover, if cultivation was just about acting as one pleases, then why would I leave Thunder Marsh?"
"Cultivation is a path, not a destination."
Upon saying this, Fu Kui’s voice paused slightly.
"When the Spiritual manifests, and the Consciousness Spirit awakens, the Primordial Spirit naturally comes into being."
"The Primordial Spirit has myriad of uses, but it’s not the only gain on this path of cultivation."
"In fact, during the cultivation of the Primordial Spirit, the way of separating the outer appearance of all things and directly hitting their essence is the greatest gain from this journey of cultivation!"
"Such as this wind, this thunder, and this rain..."
"You only see the wind, rain, and thunder, while I see the reasons for their formation and the subsequent effects they will bring."
Hearing this, the Heart Demon lurking within Fu Kui was silent for a while.
"You’re actually trying to enlighten an external evil, how peculiar you are indeed."
Regarding the words of the Heart Demon, Fu Kui responded in a matter-of-fact tone.
"Whether it’s an external evil or a Heart Demon, as long as you have your own consciousness, as long as you are not the distraction in my heart, there is a possibility of enlightenment."
Unable to restrain a laugh, the Heart Demon’s tone at that moment became filled with temptation.
"I am the embodiment of desire, the manifestation of emotions..."
"If you’re willing to hand over your body to me, you needn’t bother to enlighten me, I will naturally transform bit by bit into your likeness."
Feeling the unrestrained longing of the Heart Demon, Fu Kui chuckled silently.
"Seeing a three-year-old child holding a gold brick in the marketplace, everyone appears as a demon."
"Standing beside a smiling Maitreya, guarded by Weituo, all demons become saints."
"This is a saying from the Tao Ancestor during a sermon, I may not know what kind of existences Maitreya and Weituo are, but I understand the meaning of this sentence."
"In this world, human nature can barely withstand any test."
"Only by establishing order, setting rules, can we suppress the evil in human nature and promote its goodness."
"Creatures like you, embodiments of greed, act in pursuit of desire, leading to the undeniable exposure of your inner cravings, allowing me to uncover your identity."
"Just think, if you hadn’t exposed your own desire from the start, subtly misleading me, perhaps I wouldn’t have been so wary of you."
What Fu Kui said was true, it was precisely because the intentions of the Heart Demon were too obvious that he could identify the opposite party’s identity so quickly.
Having desire but not being able to control it, that’s what is called a ’demon’.
"If that’s the case, then why do you still trap me in your heart?"
"I pose no threat to you, and you have no means to deal with me. Since that’s the case, why not part ways amicably, each minding our own paths?"
Lamenting deeply, the Heart Demon truly expressed its helplessness at this time.
It’s not that it wanted to stay in the depths of Fu Kui’s mind, but Fu Kui forcibly trapped it within his body.
To tell the truth, the Heart Demon had invaded the consciousness of many beings, including some Divine Spirits or cultivators who practiced the Celestial Human Technique.
But Fu Kui was definitely the most peculiar existence among them, it couldn’t even understand how Fu Kui managed to trap it.
"To me, you are indeed no threat."
"But for other beings, your threat is substantial."
"Greed is the instinct of all things, seeking survival, pleasure, wealth, fulfillment, even the Tao Ancestor probably couldn’t eradicate such desire."
"So if I can successfully enlighten you, it will inherently reduce a threat to all beings."
Listening to Fu Kui, the Demon of Greed responded rarely through gritted teeth.
"Who do you think you are? A born Saint?"
"I am the strongest demon under the Great Free Celestial Monarch, the most cherished child of the Celestial Demon..."
"But now, because of you, I’ve been trapped for years, progressively falling behind other Demon Kings, losing my father’s favor."
"When the day comes that I escape, I shall let all beings fall, ruin your heart, extinguish your will, and make you watch helplessly as your family and friends become my puppets!"
Casually shaking his head, Fu Kui’s dragon head lifted slightly.
"You were originally a Demon of Greed, now led by resentment and hatred, showing that ’demons’ can also change."
"In truth, I’m not afraid of your hatred, my primary concern at first was that you were branded with the ideological stamp of that so-called ’Great Free Celestial Monarch’, a puppet of desire."
"As long as you’re not a puppet to desire, as long as you possess a heart, and are an existence that can be changed, then I am confident I can guide you back to the right path."
"Whether it takes a decade or a century, I have all the time to slowly spend with you."
Although unable to see the demon’s specific image and appearance,
At that moment, Fu Kui seemed to see the Demon of Greed staring at him intently.
It was a look mixed with astonishment, anger, hatred, and yet helplessness, as proof of its existence as a living being rather than a puppet.
"That is your right path, not the right path for us heart demons!"
"My Demon Path is to indulge desire and make all beings become my embodiments!"
Laughing again, Fu Kui distinctly caught some undertones from the words of the Demon of Greed.
It was a kind of self-assurance in one’s belief, also evidence of the Demon of Greed beginning to waver.
"The Demon Path you speak of is the Path of Celestial Demon, not your personal Demon Path."
"Similarly, the path I speak of is not the true righteous path, it’s merely my own desire."
"What you need to do next is to argue this distinction between right and wrong, and find that path that belongs solely to you."
"If that path leans towards righteousness, I will naturally let you return to the Great Freedom Heaven..."
"If that path leans towards evil, then just hope that before my death, I won’t find a way to completely kill you!"
