In the blink of an eye, it had been nearly half a month since Chi Songzi and Wu Luo arrived at the Hundred Lands Mountain Range.
After learning of Fu Kui’s whereabouts, the two did not rush to head to the South Sea.
Instead, Chi Songzi almost traversed all the mountain villages and towns of the Hundred Lands Mountain Range before officially embarking for the South Sea.
"Once we cross this mountain range, everything will truly be different."
Looking down at the mountains below, Wu Luo couldn’t help but express her own sentiments.
The fact that Wu Luo, known for her passion for battle, spoke such words was enough to demonstrate the vast contrast between the two sides of the mountain range.
North of this range was the territory of the Mountain People, where bizarre roads, bridges, and hooks interconnected the entire mountain range, seemingly inhabited everywhere.
Gliders and Butterfly People flying in the sky...
Bronze Horse Carriages and bicycles running on the ground...
Everywhere one looked, the Mountain People had truly conquered the Hundred Lands Mountain Range, even acknowledged by the Hundred Lands Gods in their position of rule.
However, once across this mountain range, everything changed dramatically.
South of this range, nearing the southern coastline, the mountains and forests appeared in a very primitive state.
There were no bridges, no hooks, and hardly any villages or towns...
Only a few main roads barely cut through the mountains and forests, extending from this range to Putuo Mountain in the South Sea.
From prior knowledge, Chi Songzi knew that these roads were built by the Mountain People when they were managing the South Sea.
After the South Sea floods were completely eradicated, the few survivors naturally moved to the north, leaving the area increasingly the domain of Spirit Monsters and wild beasts.
But foresighted individuals could see that it was only a matter of time before the Mountain People developed this area.
The only reason it remained undeveloped was out of respect for the "Great Zhun God."
"That should be the territory of the Spring God, shouldn’t it?"
Thinking of this, Chi Songzi turned his head to look at another undeveloped area.
That was the source of this mountain range, the dwelling place of most of the Hundred Lands Gods.
Along the South Sea coast, there were at least a few main roads, but that area was pure natural ecology.
Moreover, the entire area was surrounded by mountains, with only one waterway leading to Yunmeng Marsh being open.
In other words, if one wanted to enter that area, they would either have to fly over it or traverse the entire Yunmeng Marsh.
Whichever way one chose, it would not be easy.
"The ancient Spring God has already withdrawn behind the scenes, and a new Spring God now manages that area."
Casually unfolding the living map in his hand, Wu Luo corrected Chi Songzi without raising his head.
"The new Spring God calls himself ’Ling Guang Monarch,’ having close ties with the Yunmeng Mountain God."
"When we set out, the Divine Witch specifically reminded me that he might have been one of the Four Spirits of Heaven and Earth briefly appearing on the Xuanhuang Pagoda during the Celestial Beings’ path to enlightenment."
Once he confirmed that the living map still worked in this area, Wu Luo finally looked up again.
"In other words, if he doesn’t perish prematurely, he is destined to become a Great Celestial God in the future, much like the current guardian of the East Sea, ’Meng Zhang Monarch.’
This was the first time Chi Songzi learned of these inside stories, and his expression couldn’t help but show some astonishment.
"Four Spirits of Heaven and Earth? A future Great Celestial God?"
"What else do you know? Tell me everything at once!"
"Otherwise, I fear that before I meet Fu Kui on this journey, I’ll be frightened to death by you first."
Listening to Chi Songzi’s complaint, Wu Luo realized that his old friend had finally cooled off.
After all, even though there was some conflict over Fu Kui’s matters, they had been friends for hundreds of years, no hurdle could not be overcome.
"You’re accusing me unfairly. How could I have known we would have to go to the South Sea!"
"Whether it’s the Great Zhun God or Ling Guang Monarch, none of them are Evil Gods or Calamity Gods who would stop us."
At this point, Wu Luo slightly paused.
"However, Ling Guang Monarch has seven Subordinate Gods, namely Jingmu An, Guijin Yang, Liutu Zhang, Xingri Ma, Zhangyue Lu, Yihuang She, and Zhenshui Yin."
"They are usually scattered throughout the South Sea, maintaining the balance between the South Sea and the Hundred Lands Mountain Range."
"All the Gods and living beings born in the South Sea have benefited from them and are willing to follow their guidance."
"It is precisely because of their existence that Ling Guang Monarch holds supreme authority in the South Sea, equivalent to being half a ’South Sea God.’
Wu Luo referred to him as half because Ling Guang Monarch had never, like Meng Zhang Monarch, rightfully inherited the status and Subordinate Gods of the East Sea God.
Based on the current situation, Wu Luo even felt that Ling Guang Monarch seemed to look down on the title "South Sea God." Otherwise, it was inexplicable why he, as the actual ruler of the South Sea, would reside persistently in the territory of the Great Zhun God.
"Are those seven Subordinate Gods you mentioned... them?"
At that moment, Chi Songzi suddenly raised his brow, pointing towards the distant South Sea.
Almost as if in response to Chi Songzi’s words, a dazzling red light suddenly burst forth on the distant horizon.
The next second, a long red snake appeared in their line of sight.
This long snake, crimson throughout, with wings upon its back, seemed forged from flames, illuminating half the sky with each breath, evaporating countless seawaters.
In front of the fiery red snake, a constant emergence of black mist appeared to be spontaneously forming.
This black mist surged from the depths of the South Sea but, unlike ordinary mist, was filled with malevolence and hostility.
The most crucial aspect was that as the red snake and the mist continually clashed.
The black mist was also imitating the form of the red snake, gradually evolving into a black long snake.
Whistle! Whistle! Whistle!
The commotion created from their skirmish was steadily growing, soon becoming audible even where Wu Luo and Chi Songzi were currently situated.
The only silver lining was that the red snake was not fighting alone.
Seeing the Winged Fire Snake gradually falling into a predicament, on the South Sea, the figures of Jingmu An, Guijin Yang, Liutu Zhang, Xingri Ma, Zhangyue Lu, and Zhenshui Yin appeared one after another.
When these seven Subordinate Gods simultaneously manifested, a faint image of a firebird appeared above the South Sea.
The firebird, with three tufts atop its head, was entirely vermilion, yet gilded at its fingertips and wing tips.
Although it was only an illusory image.
When that firebird gazed across the South Sea from above, vaguely appeared the pattern of the Li hexagram in its pupils, its overwhelming grandeur crushing all else.
In an instant, the previously rampant black mist was immediately suppressed.
Accompanied by the successive cries of the seven Subordinate Gods, the entire South Sea seemed to have returned to its former tranquility.
Only the unseen turmoil deep in the ocean hinted that this crisis was merely temporarily subdued and not completely eradicated.
