The next morning, the sky was bright and clear.
Early in the morning, a small black sedan drove up from a distance and parked on the side of the road near the Ping’an Garden District.
The car door opened, and Zhu Daqi, dressed in a white T-shirt, got out. He then walked briskly toward the nearby Ping’an Garden District.
Inside the guardhouse at the district entrance, the old gate guard was eating breakfast. Zhu Daqi casually walked past the guardhouse and entered the Ping’an Garden District.
After all, it wasn’t a high-end residential complex, so people could come and go without having to sign in.
After entering the district, Zhu Daqi looked around as he walked, searching for his target.
Suddenly, two small figures darted out from the bushes in the green belt by the road and scurried past him, startling him.
Zhu Daqi watched the two small figures run into the distance and cursed under his breath, "Fuck, they’re just two cats! Scared the shit out of me."
The playful Little Black Cat and Little White Cat stopped in their tracks and looked back at the hostile human.
"Meow... He’s a new face. Doesn’t seem like he lives here," said the Little White Cat.
"Meow... Don’t worry about him! I’m starving. Let’s go find something to eat," said the Little Black Cat.
Then, the two little strays went to the large tree by the wall, quickly climbed it, and jumped onto the wall, leaving the district.
Zhu Daqi wandered around the Ping’an Garden District for a while and finally found his target.
A silver-white van was parked in a parking spot. Although it was the only van in the district, Zhu Daqi still checked the license plate number to confirm it was the right vehicle before walking over.
It was early in the morning, and there were few people on the paths inside the district. Students were at home eating breakfast, getting ready for school.
Office workers were just waking up or getting out of bed to wash up in the bathroom. They still had some time before they had to leave for work.
Zhu Daqi avoided the elderly residents doing their morning exercises. When he was sure no one was watching, he quickly pulled a small tracking device from his pocket, bent down, and stuck it to the underside of the van.
Once that was done, he turned and walked away slowly. After leaving through the district’s main gate, he took out his phone and opened an app.
Zhu Daqi looked at the red dot displayed on the app, a smug look spreading across his face. He muttered to himself, "With this tracker, this surveillance job will be a lot easier."
Back in his car, Zhu Daqi drove off to a nearby breakfast shop to eat.
He had woken up early today, busy finding someone to buy a tracker from, then rushing over to install it on the target vehicle. He’d been so busy he hadn’t even eaten breakfast.
Now that the tracker was successfully installed, he could relax a little and have some breakfast.
In Building 3 of the Ping’an Garden District, the elevator doors opened, and two figures, one large and one small, walked out.
Zhou Tongtong, in her school uniform, was the first to run out of the building. She went to the edge of the green belt and looked around, but she didn’t see the two little strays.
"Where are Little Black and Little White? Where did they run off to?" Zhou Tongtong had wanted to say hello to the two little strays before she left for school.
"Tongtong, come on." Xia Qing, wearing a dress, pushed her electric scooter out from the bike shed and called to her daughter, who was still looking for the little strays.
Hearing her mother call, Zhou Tongtong immediately ran over. A moment later, Xia Qing drove off on the electric scooter with her daughter, leaving the district.
Not far from the Ping’an Garden District, there was a restaurant.
The restaurant mainly served home-style stir-fry dishes. Since it was still early, it wasn’t open yet.
The two little strays arrived at the back door of the restaurant. They hid behind a telephone pole, watching their sneaky-looking prey in the distance.
A fat rat scurried along the wall, heading quickly for the trash can by the restaurant’s back door.
Just as it was about to reach its destination, the Little Black Cat darted out from its hiding spot and blocked its path.
The large black rat was startled by the sudden appearance of its natural enemy and turned to flee. But as it turned, it discovered that another predator had appeared behind it at some point.
The Little White Cat and the Little Black Cat blocked the prey’s escape route, one in front and one behind. Looking at the panicked creature, the two hunters had happy smiles on their faces.
"SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK..."
The cornered rat let out a few desperate squeaks, then charged resolutely toward the Little White Cat, trying to break through its side.
Seeing the prey charge at it, the Little White Cat pounced with lightning speed, easily pinning the rat that was trying to break through to the ground.
"SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK..."
The prey’s struggles made the Little White Cat feel an impulse to let it go and play with it for a bit. However, the rumbling in its stomach instantly dispelled that notion.
"Meow... Hurry up and finish it off!" the Little Black Cat urged, looking with disdain at the prey pinned to the ground by its companion.
The Little White Cat nodded, lowered its head, and bit down on the struggling rat’s neck. A moment later, the prey went limp and stopped struggling.
Then, the two little strays began to eat the prey, taking turns, bite for bite.
After they had finished their meal, the restaurant’s back door suddenly opened, and the owner walked out carrying a bag of trash.
"Hm?" As the owner tossed the trash into the bin and turned to go back inside, he noticed the two little strays not far away.
There were some bloodstains on the ground, along with some remains. He could guess that the two little strays had probably just eaten a large rat.
