Seth’s pupils gleamed, the exchange was happening but these four were only trading with words. He speculated if they’d use the warp gate.
But wouldn’t that mean that others too had a warp gate?
After all, all trades done weren’t with President Cain, like the bargain between Gilgamesh and Mansa Musa.
Or the one made between Ying Zheng and Gilgamesh — how would they honor these exchanges?
Seth had no idea, and he couldn’t ask. He even realized that he couldn’t speak even if he wanted to... it seemed the law of this pocket space wouldn’t even allow it.
Leaving him with only the ability to listen carefully, and that he did. Resources, armies, and weapons were promised.
And just when he assumed their conversation was coming to an end, Ying Zheng said something that caused his eyes to widen in astonishment.
"Before we all return I have to mention, I have peered through the veils of fate and there’s more to this quest, a hidden function that we can take advantage of." His words resounded, causing all attention to be turned his way.
Seeing that everyone was listening, he nodded and continued, "We have to eradicate as many races as we can during the quest!"
"Each of them we eradicate will grant the human race a bonus trait. Say we slay the Rock Gnomes to extinction, we will get an additional binding trait to defense!"
Breaths held, and eyes widened in shock — no one knew about this!
No one imagined there could be such benefits humans stood to reap from this war...
Greed flashed through all four emperors’ eyes. They were well aware what the binding trait to intelligence had helped the humans achieve within such a short time frame.
Currently, compared to the past, these monarchs could testify how monstrous the human race was becoming.
So if they had a chance to assimilate more... wouldn’t they ascend to the level of a god race?
Wouldn’t humans be able to command the laws of reality as they saw fit?
Greed burned, and the stakes of this war instantly shifted. Survival wasn’t the bare minimum anymore.
The humans weren’t the only ones who had something to lose, and god knew the humans loved nothing more than to plunder!
No more words needed to be shared. Even President Cain, who had plans on pitching the project World Government to the other three, abandoned the idea at the moment.
That could wait. Priorities had shifted. He had to rush home and change plans from strategies being defensive.
If the humans could really assimilate racial perks of the races they exterminated during this war, it would serve to elevate their chances of winning the next!
Even Seth’s heart hammered, especially since he had been exposed to the Origin Realm and the greater cosmos.
And even if his knowledge of the powers of the cosmos was shallow, from the Treant’s reaction he could tell humans could already be considered a prodigious race.
And if more could be added?
Not only could Kylie start mass‑producing serums to create large batches of Bronze‑grade humans granting humanity access to universal adaptation, they could now assimilate traits of other native races of Earth.
His heart shook, not out of excitement, but out of pity. Tsk, tsk — poor races thought they stood a chance?
Against a human who wanted to loot? Tsk, tsk — this war... just got more interesting.
Seth didn’t even realize when he returned back to the situation room, his mind long occupied by the endless possibilities this meant.
His heart hammered, from a slow budding surge of expectation. A war he initially felt adverse to didn’t seem so bad anymore.
The thought of clearing out their foes to gain more perks lit a hunger in his heart.
The human body was already a vast well of infinite potential, and that was only when they had an exclusive stat bound to intelligence.
So what if they gained defense? Strength? Essence? Will?
His heart raced at the thought. Licking his lips, he looked up at the president who was similarly lost in thought.
The two eyes met, and the president’s lips broke into a predatory grin.
"You’ll have to excuse me, lad, because it seems I have a few plans I have to alter." His voice rumbled low but carried a tone that shifted.
Their enemies probably thought they’d meet a race on the defensive during this war... well, they’d be in for a big surprise...
Following behind the president, the two parted ways. Seth’s will washed through the building, instantly locking on the position of his team...
He definitely had to share this good news...
.....
"Are you sure!" Brandon exclaimed in astonishment!
While the other three’s eyes widened, mouths agape, astounded by Seth’s revelation...
While Seth grinned and nodded, he had just relayed to them what Emperor Qin Shi Huang had mentioned back during the meet.
He was tactful when he told them about the meeting though. He didn’t go deep into the backgrounds of the monarch figures.
As he reasoned, President Cain kept it a secret for a reason, so he only mentioned the contents of the exchange between the four.
And though he still didn’t understand how each monarch would keep to their ends of the deal, he couldn’t even be bothered about how anymore.
After what Emperor Qin Shi Huang had said, he was hyped for this war.
What humanity stood to gain was immense, and besides, with what he’d seen and heard he was pretty sure their chances of winning weren’t as low as he estimated.
"This... this is immense." Uriel muttered, causing Seth to nod in agreement.
Indeed, if the human race could utilize this information to its fullest, they could win pretty easily.
They just had to focus on eradicating the myriad native races one shot at a time, while playing defensive with the rest.
And because these races weren’t a unified whole, Seth was sure this plan would definitely work!
The others wouldn’t reinforce races they deemed to be future competitors, and they would succumb to the temptation of allowing the human race to destroy the other race.
With hopes that the humans would grow weaker in the long term, while unknown to them the opposite would be the case.
And by the time they realized what was happening?
It would already be too late!
The eyes of all six gleamed. They were all smart enough to come to similar conclusions, smiling, their expectation growing wild, a predatory glint flickering behind their gaze.
Suddenly they didn’t feel any more aversion to the incoming war...
