Half a Life of Innocence

Chapter 590 - 570: Two Extreme Existences

An hour later, Luo Ziyun appeared on the outskirts of She Mountain. As she walked, she didn’t see a single venomous snake. The once vibrant She Mountain was now permeated with an aura of Death Qi.

’Looks like something major really happened.’

Luo Ziyun didn’t linger on She Mountain and headed directly down toward Bai Town.

Upon arriving in Bai Town, Luo Ziyun saw tilted and collapsed skyscrapers, ruins everywhere, and broken walls. The sight was simply unbearable.

This was clearly the human tragedy caused by the Fierce Beast Taotie’s assault and slaughter.

’Bai Town truly couldn’t escape. There isn’t just one Taotie clone.’ Luo Ziyun keenly sensed that several Taotie clones were wreaking havoc within Bai Town, voraciously devouring humans.

She walked down a street that had not yet been ravaged by the Taotie. She saw many common people, their faces filled with terror and despair. In front of many homes, people were burning incense and kowtowing in one direction, muttering to themselves, "Please, Lord Snake King, appear quickly! Vanquish the demons and save the common folk!"

’Snake King?’

Luo Ziyun was taken aback. She had almost forgotten that the snake, Tu Xiao’an, had made his debut in Bai Town.

Now the people were burning incense and making wishes, praying for his arrival.

Luo Ziyun secretly shook her head. ’Your Snake King is currently lording it over everyone in the Yaoling Mountain Range.’

Tu Xiao’an had entered She Mountain, taken up residence in the Snake Palace, and was revered by ten thousand snakes. Like a carp leaping over the dragon gate, his status was a world away from what it once was.

He was no longer the Snake Spirit he once was; his status was now exalted.

Watching these desperate people continuously burn incense, make wishes, and pray, Luo Ziyun really wanted to tell them that their Snake King wasn’t coming to save them. He wasn’t even here; he knew nothing and could hear nothing.

’Whatever. How dare some mere Taotie clones run amok?’ Luo Ziyun decided to take care of this matter herself.

After all, she hadn’t forgotten her identity as a Descendant of Yan and Huang.

"Fairy, what are you going to do?" the Jade Little Snake asked sheepishly.

Luo Ziyun said coldly, "Naturally, I’m going to kill all these Fierce Beasts. If you’re scared, you can leave on your own."

"What are you saying, Fairy? My life has long been yours."

"You smooth-talker!"

.......

Ahead was a residential area where a hundred-foot-tall Fierce Beast roared at the sky, wreaking havoc and frantically hunting for fleeing humans to eat.

Whenever it caught a human, it swallowed them in one gulp, not even bothering to chew.

"Don’t eat me! Please, don’t eat me! I’m just a little kid, not even enough for a mouthful!"

A four- or five-year-old girl was lifted up by one of the Fierce Beast Taotie’s claws. Terrified, the little girl cried and begged desperately for her life.

A dark light flashed in the Taotie’s eyes. From its giant mouth, its tongue coiled out and swallowed the little girl whole.

"Monster! Give me back my child! Give me back my child!"

Seeing this, the little girl’s mother went mad. Forgetting her fear of death, she actually started punching and kicking the Fierce Beast’s leg.

SWOOSH...!

A long tongue swept out, and the little girl’s mother was no more.

At this point, the Fierce Beast realized that most of the nearby humans had fled, and the surrounding buildings were mostly empty.

With its eyes glinting with a dark light, it rampaged through the area, destroying everything in its path and swallowing anyone it saw.

Suddenly, this Taotie looked toward an old, two-story house backed by a mountain. It was surprised to find the aura of humans still inside.

’Not running? Trying to hide and get away with it?’

Although it was only a clone, this Taotie possessed some intelligence. With a strange cry, it leaped into the air like a sky-bound rocket. The next moment, it crashed down with a BOOM, shaking the earth as it landed in the courtyard of the old, two-story house.

"Mom, this is bad! The monster’s here! It must have found us hiding inside!"

Peeking through the window, Tu Xiaoyue saw the hundred-foot-tall Fierce Beast. All the color instantly drained from her pretty face, leaving it as pale and lifeless as a wilted rose.

Wen Qiu’s heart grew cold. She looked at her daughter with pity and said, "Yue’Er, I told you to run. Why didn’t you go, you silly girl? I’m old, and I miss your brother. Death would be a release for me. Why are you so insistent on dying with me?"

Tu Xiaoyue pulled herself together. Seeing the guilt on her mom’s face, she quickly tried to comfort her, "Mom, it’s not certain that we’ll die at this monster’s hands."

’How could they not die?’

Wen Qiu sighed. Ever since these monsters had come to Bai Town, hadn’t enough people died already?

Now, the monster stood in their courtyard, and Wen Qiu felt as if she were a cold stone, plummeting into a bottomless abyss.

She wasn’t afraid of death; she just didn’t want her daughter, still in the prime of her youth, to die with her.

"Mom, don’t worry. Don’t we still have Xiaobai to protect us? Xiaobai is really powerful now," Tu Xiaoyue said, trying her best to lighten her tone and ease the tense, oppressive atmosphere.

Besides, aside from Xiaobai, she still had other measures her brother had left behind.

ROAR...!

The moment the Fierce Beast Taotie landed in the courtyard, an eerie, blinding light emanated from it. An incredibly violent bestial aura erupted outwards, causing the dilapidated two-story house to tremble and look as if it would collapse at any moment.

The Taotie represented greed and destruction. It would not tolerate leaving any living creature behind wherever it went; that would be an insult to it.

It sensed two human auras inside the old house—the delicious scent of fresh blood.

Just as the Taotie was about to strike and destroy everything, at that very moment, SWISH SWISH SWISH...!

A massive swarm of countless bees suddenly flew out from above the old, two-story house. That’s right, bees. But these bees were very peculiar. They came in two types: one was entirely purple, and the other, fiery red.

The air was filled with the dense buzzing of bees.

The two types of bees spread out in ranks above the massive Taotie. Each rank consisted of exactly three thousand bees.

Seeing these exquisite-looking bees from the window, Tu Xiaoyue’s eyes lit up as if she had just seen a glimmer of hope.

These were no ordinary bees. Her brother had left them behind to guard the house before he left. The all-purple bees could release Thunder, while the fiery-red bees could shoot a ball of Flame. They were incredibly powerful.

She believed that even if these bees couldn’t kill this great monster, they could at least injure it severely, because Tu Xiaoyue had witnessed their power before.

’Go, bees! Kill this monster!’ Tu Xiaoyue silently cheered for the six thousand hovering bees.

The Fierce Beast Taotie’s two eyes, located under its armpits, stared blankly at the swarm of bees arrayed above its head. ’What the hell is this? These lowly bees want to challenge me?’

In the face of an Ancient Exotic Beast, even a Rank Three Demon Spirit was nothing, to say nothing of these insects from the bottom of the food chain.

For a moment, it felt like a colony of ants trying to shake an elephant.

"Fire!"

Filled with excitement, Tu Xiaoyue screamed from the window, commanding the bees to attack.
