Chapter 400 - 221: Behind the Scenes

BANG!

Xu Yang retreated. The Tuo Dragon’s tail missed, whipping heavily against its own body. The terrifying force of the blow made even Xu Yang shudder to hear it.

If he hadn’t moved, he feared even his Vajra Indestructible Body might not have withstood it. Even if he wasn’t blown to pieces, he would have ended up with broken bones and torn tendons.

CRACK!

The very scales that he had needed to use his full strength, Sword Intent, and the Half-Spirit Weapon, Red Blood, to break through were instantly covered in cracks from the tail’s lash. Scales shot off, revealing the crimson flesh beneath.

"AWOOO..."

The Tuo Dragon cried out in pain, letting out a heart-rending shriek. The agony of its own tail striking its body sent a tremor through it, and its aura grew even more frenzied.

Xu Yang’s movements were swift. He whipped out the Five Poison Water from his robes and hurled it viciously.

With a crash, the bottle shattered on impact, and the foul-smelling, black Five Poison Water seeped entirely into the Tuo Dragon’s wound.

The Tuo Dragon paid it no mind. Its savage aura intensified as it spun around, its four limbs cracking the earth as it lunged at Xu Yang like a whirlwind.

A ferocious Evil Qi, like a tidal wave, crashed directly into his Heart Spirit.

If Xu Yang hadn’t already condensed his Sword Intent and forged a will as tough as iron, he wouldn’t even have the courage to fight back under this ferocious pressure.

He activated Stepping on Gang and Chasing Wind, sidestepping the Tuo Dragon’s deadly lunge. He infused Red Blood with Golden Gang Qi and, with a wave of his hand, unleashed a golden slash of Sword Qi.

The sharp Sword Intent sank into the Tuo Dragon’s body, and a gash over a meter long appeared. It wasn’t very deep, however—only about an inch or so.

Compared to the Tuo Dragon’s massive body, it was hardly a serious injury.

’His saber can even pierce the Tuo Dragon’s scales. What level of weapon did that old bastard Huoyun give him?’

In the distance, a figure watched the wounds on the Tuo Dragon’s body, shocked. An ordinary Half-Spirit Weapon could never have cut through the Tuo Dragon’s scales.

BOOM! BOOM!

Xu Yang was still locked in battle with the Tuo Dragon and had already left seven or eight wounds on its body. Yet, not only did the beast show no sign of retreating, it grew even more crazed, as if determined to fight him to the death.

’Interesting. Could this be the danger Master was talking about?’

’The Five Poison Water was supposed to drive the Tuo Dragon away, but it doesn’t seem to be having any effect at all. The creature shows no sign of being poisoned; in fact, its aura is just getting more savage.’

Its thick tail smashed toward him, and Xu Yang leaped away.

BANG!

The ground shook. Terrifying fissures spread across the earth, and a dragon-like plume of dust shot into the sky.

Xu Yang’s gaze swept over the Tuo Dragon’s blood-soaked body as he suddenly swung Red Blood.

The golden Sword Gang expanded rapidly, and an invisible power surged through the air.

BOOM!

The golden Sword Qi fell like a waterfall, its power seemingly capable of splitting heaven and earth, tearing through the air with a roar.

BANG! BANG!

At the same time, the earth beneath the Tuo Dragon exploded as a golden Sword Gang erupted from the ground, striking directly at the beast’s soft underbelly.

Earth Demon Six Harmonies Saber!

Six golden-yellow arcs of Sword Gang appeared simultaneously, bombarding the Tuo Dragon from above, below, left, right, front, and back.

BOOM! BOOM!

A deafening sound erupted. The Tuo Dragon was engulfed by the golden Sword Gang as a terrifying explosion rocked the area, sending waves of earth surging like a tide.

Through the billowing dust, Xu Yang heard the Tuo Dragon’s furious, mournful roar as its tail cut through the cloud of debris and slapped toward him. Its power was no longer as terrifying as before.

Xu Yang shot into the sky and brought down another Sword Gang. Hard scales, carrying enough force to pierce metal and shatter stone, shot out in all directions.

The Tuo Dragon’s tough scales were surely worth a fortune, but at that moment, he had no mind for such things. Killing the Tuo Dragon was his main objective.

After another Earth Demon Six Harmonies Saber, the behemoth within the dust cloud seemed to have exhausted its strength. Its roars grew faint.

Xu Yang dispersed the dust with a shockwave. The Tuo Dragon was covered in wounds. In many places, its scales were gone, revealing a mess of mangled flesh and blood.

Its abdomen, in particular, had been torn open with a massive gash. Its intestines were spilling out, dragging on the ground, and blood gushed out like a spring.

The madness in the Tuo Dragon’s eyes gradually faded, replaced by clarity and fear. It let out a low growl and turned to flee toward Moon Lake.

"Too late!"

Xu Yang strode after it and unleashed an Earth Demon Six Harmonies Saber.

A golden Sword Gang sliced up from beneath the ground, severing the Tuo Dragon’s intestines and blasting into its body through the existing wound.

"AWOOO..."

A mournful howl shook the surroundings. Where the golden Sword Gang struck, waves of mud churned. The Tuo Dragon’s massive body slowed, then toppled into a deep crater.

Its limbs still struggled, but it couldn’t get back up. The light in its eyes faded rapidly as blood and shattered organs poured from its abdomen.

A few breaths later, the Tuo Dragon went completely still.

Xu Yang’s expression was calm as he gasped for breath. The golden glow around his body vanished, and he returned to normal.

"Fifth Senior Brother, you can come out now." He turned his head and looked calmly toward the nearby forest.

The surroundings were deathly silent, save for the pungent stench of blood.

CLAP. CLAP.

A round of applause came from the woods, and a tall figure emerged from between the trees.

It was Guan Du!

He was carrying two things: the head of Chen Yong, whose eyes were still open in death, and a piece of Spirit Iron about the same size as Chen Yong’s head. The Spirit Iron was cyan and had a fish-scale pattern.

It was Fish Scale Steel, the same type Xu Yang had once acquired—a rare variety of Spirit Iron.

The piece he had obtained from the Su Family Treasure Vault was only the size of an egg, but the one in Guan Du’s hand was nearly as large as Chen Yong’s head. It was, by far, the largest piece of Spirit Iron Xu Yang had ever seen.

"Junior Brother Xu, what an impressive display. I’ve fought that Tuo Dragon no less than three times and could never defeat it, yet you killed it in a single encounter."
