Eldric had just gotten back to his mansion in his district when he instantly called Javi, waiting patiently for it to connect as he paced around his study with a severe expression on his face.
They had just concluded the central meeting and he was not foolish enough to think that he could convince them all to genuinely be on his side.
Bella he could take care of and Lady June had promised to work on Magnus. He was confident that even if he could not control them, he could get rid of them.
The problem was on Javi’s side. He needed to collaborate with him and kill the vampire lords he needed to get rid of. Then when the time was right and he got his immortality potion, he could easily go ahead and wipe them all out.
The potion was the most important thing and could only happen when he was confident that there was no one, either werewolf or vampire, that could get in his way.
Including Lady June herself.
"I need the names of those that are against you," Eldric said the moment the call connected, confident that his study could not be bugged and even if it was, his speech was careful enough for no one to know what he truly meant.
"By the next meeting, I’ll convince us all to attack so we should be able to get rid of them."
"Vazer and Lord Mooza to start! They are both dangerous. Vazer you’ll need to watch out for especially because of their bloodline ability," Javi warned in a very serious tone from his own mansion, a building he had carefully fortified to the utmost of his power.
The last thing he wanted was to be killed the same way Cain and Vazer had colluded to kill Masdaw.
"If you’re about to kill them there is no reason why things cannot go back to the way they were! With each of us holding on to our respective districts assigned," Javi said as he sipped from the wine in his glass while staring at the guard kneeling at his feet.
Head lowered and trembling like he had already been sentenced to death.
"You’ll become king and I’ll become head of the vampires! It’s a win-win!" Javi continued to speak while lying through his teeth.
Left to him, Eldric was the first person he wanted to get rid of but he knew that before he could do that he needed to get rid of Cain. Having seen his size and heard the rumours of his strength, it would be stupid to underestimate him.
"If you need any information and it’s within my power, all you need to do is ask," Javi continued even as Eldric, who had continued pacing around his study, nodded his head vigorously as he answered.
"Of course! I’ll keep you updated!" he responded, still speaking when there was a knock on his door. A frown flashed across his face when the door was pushed open before he gave whoever was at the door leave to enter.
"We’ll speak later," he said, ending the call as he stared at the entrance, not the least bit surprised to see Lady June walk in like she owned the place, though he was surprised to see Violet walk in behind her.
"She is indeed related to you," he said, staring at their eyes which were brown, clearly not their original colour, and at the similarities in their features.
His gaze fixed on Violet in particular who stood closer to the door instead of coming closer. The expression on her face made it clear that she did not like him.
"She is with us?" he asked Lady June who responded.
"Does she have a choice?"
"You are sure?" Eldric asked since the last thing he wanted was to be stabbed in the back by Cain’s recent lover.
"As sure as the sun rises in the east! She is bound by contract," Lady June said, which seemed more than enough to reassure Eldric who slowly nodded his head as a soft smile spread across his face.
"The plan is in motion. I need a timeline for that potion!" he said even as Lady June simply scoffed loudly in response.
"The only timeline is if you’re powerful enough to kill him and carve out his heart! I’m sure it’s brimming with all the power I could possibly need," she directly said even as the excitement in her gaze could not be hidden.
"We," Eldric corrected with a sneer, gritting his teeth hard enough for the tension to be visible in the set of his jaw as he looked right at her.
Did he trust her? No. But he trusted the fact that their motives aligned. Left to him, he did not care about witches but it annoyed him that he always had to keep an eye on her.
She simply showed a thirst for physical power but for all he knew she could also be interested in witches becoming a major power in the world.
’That would be a problem for another time,’ he decided mentally as he walked towards his seat behind his table, glancing at Violet who stood quietly by the door with a distrustful expression on her face.
"As long as you keep everything in check on your side, I’ll fix things on my end. With enough supporters, no matter how powerful he is, we’ll be able to kill him together," Eldric said, meeting Lady June’s gaze.
Moreover, he himself had been hiding his stronger abilities while pretending to be weak.
Lady June said nothing else as she simply nodded her head before turning around to show that she was leaving. The huge black cloak she loved wearing trailed behind her as she shot him a soft smile, nothing on her face revealing the cruel heart Eldric knew was hidden behind that mask.
"Then we’ll get out of your way! I’ll get ready for when you’re ready," Lady June said, turning around and making her way towards the main doors, pushing them open to leave.
Violet had no choice but to follow. The alternative was to remain in Eldric’s study, something she did not want to do.
His expression alone made it clear that he disliked her and the feeling was mutual. Rage rolled in her belly having listened to him talk about killing Cain without any fear or remorse on his face.
Violet was utterly disgusted as she slammed the door behind her, walking behind Lady June as she finally began to speak.
"Do you feel anything? Killing someone because..."
"Don’t waste your breath, daughter dearest... we both know Cain is not a person, not anymore. Moreover, even if he was it wouldn’t matter."
"He has something I want and I intend to get it."
