Chapter 331: The Impossible Corridor

Taking a deep breath, he walked forward.

He walked for what felt like several minutes, the corridor unwinding before him with no sign of variation. The walls remained the same height. The floor stayed the same width. The light retained the same low, ambient blue glow, despite having no visible source.

Then he arrived back at the entrance.

He stopped. Slowly, he turned in place.

The corridor stretched out before him once again, in the very direction he had just come from. The same silent stone. The same unchanging walls. The same impossible extension into a distance that should not have existed inside a passage of any reasonable length.

He tried again. This time, he walked farther and and faster.

Several minutes later... He arrived back at the entrance.

’What the fuck is going one?!’ A frown formed on his face.

He turned around and walked the opposite way. This time, he didn’t return to the entrance.

Instead, he emerged in a completely different section of the corridor, where the passage branched into three separate paths, none of which he had seen before. It was a bit strange but he ran.

He ran hard, drawing upon every ounce of his enhanced speed. The martial mastery embedded within his mind guided his movements instinctively, allowing him to execute footwork techniques he had absorbed but never tested at their limits.

He became a blur racing through the corridor, covering what felt like more than a kilometer.

Then... He arrived at the entrance again.

"..." He tried marking the walls.

Using the edge of his fingernail, he carved a deep groove into the stone at the first junction. His enhanced strength bit cleanly into the surface.

He continued walking, keeping an eye out for the mark. It never appeared.

The walls remained perfectly smooth.

When he returned to the entrance and inspected the original wall, the groove had vanished as though it had never existed.

The corridor was rearranging itself faster than he could observe it.

He tried every movement technique his martial mastery offered. Displacement steps. Rapid pivots.

Wall-runs, to see whether vertical movement produced a different response.

Nothing changed. Eventually, with the quiet resignation of a man who had exhausted every clever idea, he decided to try the simplest one.

He punched the wall. The impact was clean. His fist struck the black stone and rebounded.

Not because the stone had resisted.

But because... there was nothing to break. The wall didn’t crack.

It didn’t chip. It didn’t even acknowledge the strike.

He punched again. The result was identical.

For the third strike, he committed everything..The same fist that can shatter solid steel dumbbells less than a day ago shot forward with the force of a speeding truck.

The instant it connected, a strange sensation washed over him.

It felt as if it wasn’t that the wall had blocked the punch.

It was as though his fist had never actually struck the wall at all. He could touch the wall without issue. He could feel its cold, waxy surface beneath his palm.

Yet the moment he threw a punch... It felt as though the wall ceased to exist, replaced instead by an invisible layer of space itself.

It was an indescribably strange feeling.

Frowning, he stepped back and considered it.

He was about to try a different approach when something caught his eye.

His last strike, the strongest one, had produced a faint distortion in the air around the point of impact.

A ripple. Barely visible but It spread outward through the space before fading almost immediately.

He had missed it before because he’d been watching the stone instead of the air.

He punched again. The ripple appeared once more. Slightly larger this time.

It lingered for a fraction of a second longer before disappearing.

His thoughts immediately connected the pieces.

’The wall isn’t indestructible... Space itself is.’

’The stone is just a manifestation. This corridor is a spatial construct, and it repairs itself faster than I can damage it.’

’I’m not fighting the wall.’

’I’m fighting the space.’

The realization sharpened everything. He had two choices.

He could continue wandering this corridor indefinitely, trapped in loops that would never lead anywhere, slowly exhausting himself against a maze designed to defeat conventional navigation.

Or...

He could strike hard enough that the repairs couldn’t keep up.

Taking a slow, steady breath, he opened the System Shop.

---

The shop’s combat category had expanded since his last visit.

He scrolled through the offerings with rapid, focused attention. He was looking for a fist technique. Something that could multiply the force of his existing strikes enough to overwhelm the spatial construct’s rate of repair.

He found it three items down.

[Qi Detonation Art]

[A striking technique that channels the practitioner’s stored Qi into the fist and detonates it at the moment of impact. Amplifies the force of a single strike by a factor of ten to fifty, depending on the practitioner’s Qi purity and control.]

[Cost: 7 System Points.]

He willed the purchase. The technique flowed into his mind in the same clean, orderly wave as every other System-granted skill. Its knowledge settled effortlessly into place. The Qi circulation pathways. The compression method. The precise moment of detonation. The intricate routing required to condense and release Qi at the instant of impact.

He closed his eyes and ran through the technique in his mind.

Understanding it, he immediately circulated the Qi flowing through his newly opened meridians. He drew in the faint ambient traces lingering within the corridor and merged them with the reserve already moving through his body.

Then he guided it all into his right fist. The density increased.

Pressure gathered around his knuckles, growing heavier and heavier until his entire arm trembled under the concentrated force.

Without hesitation... He punched.

BOOM!!

The corridor shook violently. At the instant his fist connected, the compressed Qi detonated.

The explosion of force surged through his knuckles, punching not merely into the stone, but through it.

The wall fractured. It truly fractured. Black stone splintered outward as a massive spiderweb of cracks spread nearly three meters in every direction.

More importantly... The air itself cracked.

The faint ripple he had noticed during his earlier attempts had transformed into an unmistakable fracture in space.

A jagged, glowing line of distortion spread outward from his fist, racing across the wall, climbing through the ceiling, and extending into the floor beneath him.

He watched the corridor struggle to repair itself. The cracks in the stone began to close.

The stone healed. The fracture in space did not.

He wasn’t about to let the opportunity slip away. Gritting his teeth, nearly cursing aloud, he struck again.

BOOOM!!

The second blow landed on the exact same spot. The spatial fracture widened.

It spread farther, racing down the corridor in both directions, branching across the ceiling in glowing, jagged lines as the darkness behind the construct became visible through the widening cracks.

He struck a third time.

BOOM!!

The corridor shattered like glass. Every wall. Every section of floor. Every inch of the ceiling. Every enclosed surface of the passage exploded apart simultaneously.

The entire spatial construct fragmented into countless shimmering shards before dissolving into nothingness, the illusion of the corridor collapsing around him like a mirror struck by a hammer.
