Chapter 706 - 709: That Foolish Woman

Jiang Ran originally wanted to comfort Jiang Zhan, but when she opened her mouth, she didn’t know what to say.

Looking at Jiang Zhan again, he’s no longer a child.

Many things, even if others don’t say them, he can understand to some extent.

So Jiang Ran didn’t insist on comforting him.

Jiang Zhan didn’t stay long before he left.

When he was about to leave, Pei Yang just returned, so Jiang Ran simply asked Pei Yang to take him back.

Although it wasn’t very far, Jiang Zhan was obviously absent-minded.

Jiang Ran was a bit worried about him going back alone.

She had originally planned to take him herself but was concerned about running into other Jiang Family members.

So, Pei Yang’s return was well-timed.

Pei Yang didn’t really resist the idea of taking Jiang Zhan home.

When Jiang Zhan first appeared, Pei Yang was quite resistant.

But later, as time went by, and after getting along, he wasn’t that resistant anymore.

Jiang Ran never thought about making them good friends; as long as they weren’t hostile, that was good enough.

Everyone is an independent individual with their own thoughts and likes or dislikes. She doesn’t want to force those around her to change their ideas for her.

That would actually be a form of selfishness and moral coercion.

Watching Pei Yang and Jiang Zhan leave together, Jiang Ran stood up and went to the living room.

She wanted to make a phone call to Jiang Zhi.

For convenience, she already knew the phone number of Jiang Zhi’s office.

At this time, Jiang Zhi should be at the company.

If he wasn’t, then she would call again tomorrow.

Jiang Ran was quite lucky; the phone was picked up after only two rings.

Upon hearing Jiang Zhi’s voice, Jiang Ran paused briefly before speaking.

"It’s me."

Jiang Zhi, upon hearing it was Jiang Ran calling, was very happy, as could be heard in his tone.

"Oh, it’s Ranran. Is there something you need?"

Hearing Jiang Zhi’s cheerful tone, for a moment, Jiang Ran didn’t feel like bringing up the matter.

Thinking about it, it seemed that every time she approached Jiang Zhi, it was for no good reason—all because of the troublesome Jiang Family.

But what else could she do?

This wasn’t a scenario she wished for.

Jiang Ran’s brief silence made Jiang Zhi realize she must have called for a reason, and it likely wasn’t a good one.

Understanding this, Jiang Zhi’s mood also grew heavy.

"It’s okay, no matter what happened, go ahead and tell me."

Jiang Ran knew she had no choice but to speak.

Since that was the case, there was no need to be hesitant.

Without any personal emotions, Jiang Ran recounted everything truthfully.

After she finished, there was an endless silence on the other end.

After who knows how long, Jiang Zhi finally let out a long breath.

"This—"

Stupid woman.

The last two words were swallowed forcefully by Jiang Zhi.

Even though Jiang Ran has no feelings for Chen Meirong now.

But no matter what, she is still Jiang Ran and Jiang Zhan’s mother.

He still couldn’t say such words in front of the children.

Even though he didn’t say it, Jiang Ran could actually guess it to some extent.

If it wasn’t for their identities, Jiang Ran would have liked to complete that sentence.

She really was quite stupid.

"Don’t worry, I will handle this matter properly."
