Some people are really just here for the spectacle.
But for some, that’s not the only reason.
An old lady pulled a young daughter-in-law out, heading directly toward Jiang Ran.
The old lady sized Jiang Ran up and down before speaking.
"Are you a traditional Chinese medicine doctor? How good are your skills?"
Faced with such a question, Jiang Ran wasn’t angry.
Although the old lady’s question was a bit blunt, it was understandable.
As a patient, wanting to know how good a doctor is, is perfectly normal.
However, this way of asking actually won’t yield any useful answers.
After all, whether medical skills are good or not can’t be determined by words; saying them is useless.
So, Jiang Ran didn’t answer the question, but asked in return.
"Are you here for a consultation?"
"Not me, I want my daughter-in-law to be checked. She’s been married for a year now, and there’s still no movement in her belly. I just want to know if there’s something wrong with her."
Hearing this, Jiang Ran frowned.
The old lady’s words were indeed unpleasant.
The fact that the young couple has been married for a year without children is a source of anxiety for the mother-in-law, which is normal.
But even so, she shouldn’t say things like that.
Just because they don’t have children doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the woman’s fault.
Seeing Jiang Ran silent, the old lady spoke again, "Why aren’t you talking? Can’t you diagnose it?"
Even Jiang Ran, when questioned directly like this, wasn’t happy about it.
Jiang Ran walked to the table, "Sit down, let me have a look."
The old lady pursed her lips, still looking a bit displeased, but she did have her daughter-in-law sit down.
"What’s your name?" Jiang Ran asked softly.
"My name is... Li Cuizhi."
Jiang Ran nodded, "Alright, Cuizhi, extend your hand for me, there’s no need to be nervous."
"Okay!"
Li Cuizhi verbally agreed but was still very nervous.
Even though she said she wouldn’t be nervous, she indeed was.
Knowing this wasn’t something she could control, Jiang Ran didn’t mind too much and focused on taking her pulse.
As Jiang Ran took Li Cuizhi’s pulse, the people around them all focused their gaze on the two of them, not blinking.
While being watched by so many people didn’t bother Jiang Ran, it clearly made Li Cuizhi more nervous.
Jiang Ran asked her to switch hands and continued to take her pulse for a while before withdrawing her hand.
Before Jiang Ran could say anything, the old lady anxiously leaned in.
"How is it, how is it? Is there something wrong with her body?"
Jiang Ran shook her head, "No, her body is fine. Not having children yet just means the time isn’t right."
Hearing this, the old lady pouted, "What do you mean the time isn’t right! Other daughters-in-law got pregnant within two months of marriage. It’s over a year for her, and still nothing. She must have a problem with her body. How unlucky I am to have such a daughter-in-law. My son is the only heir for three generations. What will we do if they don’t have children?"
The more the old lady spoke, the louder her voice became.
Not only Jiang Ran, but everyone else present frowned upon hearing her words.
Not wanting to listen to her rambling, Jiang Ran interrupted her.
"I can give her a prescription to condition her body. If she takes it for some time, there should be some effect."
Upon hearing this, the old lady immediately stopped talking, looking at Jiang Ran with eyes full of hope, "Are you serious? That prescription really works? You’re not just saying that to pacify me, are you?"
"My clinic is right here. If it doesn’t work, you can always come back to me."
