On the Splendid River Bridge, a truck suddenly veered off course.
It directly smashed through the guardrail, speeding unabated toward that black Maybach...
In an instant, piercing honks rose and fell repeatedly.
The sound of tires scraping the ground.
The sound of vehicles colliding.
Screams, curses...
When Elliot Morris saw that truck, his heart leaped, his hair bristled, and he felt a sudden numbness.
He forced himself to stay calm, trying to evade the truck charging straight at them, but there was nowhere to hide.
The incident happened in a flash, and even Mason Bennett and his companion in the back seat didn’t have time to react.
At such high speed, jumping out of the car was impossible, and surrounded by cars, even if they didn’t fall to their deaths, they’d be caught under the wheels of other vehicles.
Bella Green’s face was ashen, her mind had stopped functioning.
Mason held her tightly in his arms, his expression fierce, and shouted at Elliot.
"Accelerate, charge through!"
Braking was impossible, the only hope was to rush through before the truck came crashing.
Elliot slammed the gas pedal to the floor, clenching his teeth, cold sweat covering his forehead.
His mind was blank, the only thought was to charge through...
But it seemed the truck was aimed right at them, as Elliot accelerated, the truck driver took a suicidal turn, steering directly toward their car.
Bang...
A violent crash, the Maybach’s rear was deformed, pushed directly toward the bridge’s guardrail by the truck.
Though the guardrail was sturdy, it couldn’t withstand such a fierce impact.
The guardrail shattered, the truck charged straight out, plunging finally into the river.
And that black Maybach hung half over the bridge, half suspended in the air, teetering precariously.
Elliot gritted his teeth tightly, his face pale with fright, his foot clamped on the brake, cramping, yet he dared not move.
If he had been a bit slower, they would have been knocked down by that truck, not stuck here.
"B-boss, get out of the car, hurry up!"
Elliot’s voice trembled, his whole body tense like a drawn bowstring.
In the back seat, the car was already deformed.
Mason was expressionless, yet a closer look would reveal he wasn’t as calm as he appeared.
Even his hand undoing Bella’s seatbelt trembled.
"Bella, move slowly, I’ll lead you out."
The man’s voice was heavy, serious.
Bella’s lips quivered, already scared half senseless, yet she forced herself to calm down, not wanting to hold Mason back.
Mason slowly shifted toward the bridge-side car door, but unfortunately, the door was deformed from the crash and wouldn’t open.
"Don’t, don’t open it, climb through the window, then get me."
The window glass had shattered, allowing one person to get out.
On the bridge, people were already heading toward them, wanting to help, but dared not get too close, for fear of being taken down together.
Mason supported Bella’s waist, wanting to lift her over.
"You go out first..."
Before he could finish, Elliot screamed, "Don’t move!!"
Mason’s earlier motion caused the car to sway slightly.
Bella was so scared she dared not move, yet she still managed a slight smile to reassure the man beside her.
"I can’t get across, you go first, then pull me out, hurry, Elliot can’t hold on."
Mason looked at the position of the whole car, his face dark as ink; indeed, Bella couldn’t get across.
Forcing her way through, the car couldn’t withstand such swaying.
