Vivian Thornecroft narrowed her eyes slightly, looking at Louis Lawrence with his ambiguous smile.
She couldn’t quite figure out what he was thinking.
But she knew clearly that she had nothing to do with this matter.
She pondered for a moment, then looked at Old Master Lawrence and said, "Grandfather, then let’s investigate it."
Old Master Lawrence sighed when he heard this, and called for Butler Feng.
Because of Old Master’s health, Butler Feng was not too far away.
He had been standing by the door the whole time, so he naturally heard Old Master Lawrence’s call.
Since he wasn’t far, he more or less heard some of their conversation.
As the Lawrence Family’s servant, and the person Old Master Lawrence trusted the most, he was naturally aware of this and tacitly approved.
"Old Master, please stay calm, I’ll make a phone call."
After Butler Feng finished speaking, he glanced at Vivian Thornecroft before walking out of the living room.
Butler Feng soon returned, holding a faxed document, looking somewhat troubled.
Vivian looked at Butler Feng’s expression, her heart sinking slowly, with a sense of foreboding.
"Old Master, please take a look."
He said as he handed the document to Old Master Lawrence.
As he looked at the contents, Old Master Lawrence’s expression changed repeatedly.
Butler Feng hesitated for a moment, then spoke softly.
"The police station in Brocade City has already filed the case, saying they’ve allied with the police in Kyoto and are bringing Vivian in for investigation, so I assume they’ll be here soon."
These were the exact words from the Brocade City police station.
Hearing this, Old Master Lawrence swayed and almost fell.
Mason Bennett’s words were yet to be corroborated, unclear of their truthfulness, but the police were about to make an arrest.
Could it still be false?
Moreover, it was clearly written that the card number and name used to wire money to that truck driver were Vivian Thornecroft’s!
Adding in what the truck driver’s wife said.
Someone from Kyoto, with the surname Tang...
All the evidence pointed clear; what’s left to question?
Old Master Lawrence’s blood pressure shot up instantly; on the verge of fainting, yet he held on firmly.
Pointing with his finger at the fax, he addressed Vivian Thornecroft, gesturing at her to take a phone, his voice slightly distorted.
"You, do you have anything else to say?"
Vivian Thornecroft also had no idea how things escalated to this.
She knew she was innocent, but even so, when all evidence pointed to her, she was momentarily stunned.
Especially, Butler Feng’s words were still ringing in her ears.
"Grandfather, I truly have nothing to do with this. Bella is my sister, how could I harm her? Besides, we barely interacted, let alone acquaintance."
Vivian stated in a calm voice, even though by now, she had already regained her composure.
This statement elicited a sneering laugh from Louis Lawrence.
"Vivian, do you know how to spell ’hypocrisy’?"
Vivian’s pupils contracted slightly, facing Louis with a cold voice: "What do you mean?"
"Back then, you and Bella were childhood sweethearts, even exchanging tokens of affection. Then after returning to Brocade City, you turned your back, shifted your affections to Anna Green, and now, you don’t even dare to admit it?"
Louis Lawrence’s smile was full of malice, laden with ridicule, looking at Vivian Thornecroft.
Vivian Thornecroft narrowed her eyes slightly, aware that Mason Bennett knew about this, she wasn’t surprised.
But how did Louis Lawrence know about her past with Bella Green?
She knew Bella’s character well; it was impossible for her to tell Louis Lawrence about this.
Even Mason Bennett might only know a snippet at best...
Besides...
Tokens of affection?
Vivian tightly pressed her lips, clenching her hand at her side a bit more.
The lenses glinted with a cold light, obscuring the scrutiny in her eyes, yet she continued to watch Louis Lawrence intently.
What else did he know?
