"You’re going to save him?"
Flora Bloom nodded.
"How?"
’A patient even I think is impossible to save... and this young girl says she can cure him?’ He had practiced medicine his entire life. While he wouldn’t dare claim to be a master of traditional Chinese medicine, he had saved countless people. He also had a decent grasp of Western medicine.
But abiding by the physician’s principle of prioritizing saving lives, he nodded. "Let’s go. I’ll take you there!"
The temporary hospital under the Grant family’s management had originally been a small, private hospital on the outskirts of the city. It wasn’t large, the equipment was lacking, and the medical supplies were incomplete.
The only operating room with a full suite of equipment had ample power and functioning machines, but it lacked a surgical team to actually perform any operations.
Robin Grant led Flora Bloom and the others into this operating room. He switched on the lights and powered up all the equipment he thought she might need.
"You can have Cynthia teach you how to use this equipment. I’ll go get the surgical tools. Just a moment!"
Flora Bloom stopped him, shaking her head. "Dr. Grant, that won’t be necessary. I won’t need any of this equipment."
Robin Grant’s brow furrowed, his face clouded with extreme suspicion. "You won’t?"
Robin Grant stopped in his tracks and looked at Flora Bloom, his face a mask of wariness and doubt. "You’re not using the equipment? Then how do you plan to treat him? Acupuncture? Or some superpower?"
Flora Bloom shook her head. "Neither."
While Robin Grant was questioning her, Neal Wallace had already placed Gavin Todd on the operating table.
Flora Bloom gestured for Cynthia Grant to close the door, shutting Simon and his wife, who had followed them, outside.
Flora Bloom cupped her hand and poured some spiritual water into Gavin Todd’s mouth. Then she looked at Cynthia Grant and pointed directly at Robin Grant. "Cynthia, can we trust your grandfather?"
Robin Grant’s eyebrows shot up as Flora Bloom pointed at him. "What’s that supposed to mean? You impudent little brat! Are you worried I’m going to steal your secrets?!"
Flora Bloom ignored him, her gaze still fixed on Cynthia Grant.
Cynthia Grant covered her mouth to stifle a giggle. "Don’t worry! My grandpa’s with us. There won’t be a problem!"
Robin Grant hadn’t expected his own granddaughter to actually give a serious answer to Flora Bloom’s disrespectful question. He was suddenly fuming.
Flora Bloom nodded, not giving Robin Grant a second glance.
Then, Robin Grant watched as a wooden bucket materialized from Flora Bloom’s hands, appearing out of thin air inside the operating room. Deep blue water then flowed from her hands into the bucket.
Flora Bloom took out her usual dagger and handed it to Cynthia Grant. "Scrape all the rotting flesh off him."
It wasn’t just Cynthia Grant who was shocked by this command; Robin Grant, standing nearby, practically jumped. "You can’t! He’s too badly injured. The rot starting from his calves is spreading. If you cut it all off, you’ll kill him!"
Flora Bloom shot Robin Grant a cool glance. "He’ll die if you don’t." To stop him from arguing further, she added sharply, "Every word you say is just wasting time and harming him! Cynthia, why haven’t you started? What are you looking at your grandfather for?"
"Flora, I... His leg is so rotten... I... I can’t..."
Flora Bloom glared at Cynthia Grant, then turned to Robin Grant. "Why don’t you do it?"
Robin Grant glanced at Gavin Todd’s leg, then straightened his back. He walked over and took the dagger from Cynthia Grant’s hand. "Cynthia, you monitor his pulse for me. I’ll do it!"
Flora Bloom curled her lip, annoyed. A large jar of spiritual water materialized in her hand. "Cynthia, are you dense? What’s the point of checking his pulse? Hurry up and pour this down his throat!"
Cynthia Grant saw the spiritual water in Flora Bloom’s hand and finally snapped out of it, her courage surging. In her panic, she had almost forgotten about the miraculous effects of Flora’s spiritual water!
And so, Robin Grant began to carve away at the flesh on Gavin Todd’s calves with the dagger, cutting off the foul-smelling, blackened, necrotic tissue.
But the more he cut, the more horrified Robin Grant became.
He had already cut away the flesh on Gavin Todd’s leg down to the bone. One more scrape of the thin membrane of fascia, and it would be nothing but bare bone. Yet the tissue was still pitch-black.
But as Cynthia Grant forced more spiritual water down Gavin Todd’s throat, Robin Grant made an astonishing discovery. The leg he had carved down to little more than bare bone and sinew was miraculously regenerating new flesh. And it was happening at an incredible speed.
After Flora Bloom’s space had evolved, the spiritual water’s properties had evolved with it. Its power to heal and regenerate flesh was now far more potent than before.
Cynthia Grant continuously poured the enhanced spiritual water into Gavin Todd’s mouth. Amidst it all, Gavin Todd’s consciousness slowly began to return.
But as he regained consciousness, Gavin Todd realized he would rather be passed out. He wanted to scream from the pain, but the spiritual water Cynthia Grant was pouring into his mouth left him no opportunity to even cry out.
Once Robin Grant witnessed the flesh-regenerating effects of the spiritual water on Gavin Todd, he grew bolder. His cuts were no longer as cautious as they had been before.
The black scorpion’s poison was bone-deep. The first few times he carved away all the flesh on Gavin Todd’s calves, the newly regenerated tissue still grew back black!
