Grey howled as though he was having the time of his life. He zipped through the air, leaving lines of white gold in his wake.
SSSKREEEEEEE!
Caldrin shrieked, lashing out with a tentacle. Ink coated it, he was clearly being a lot more cautious. His body had already turned as black as his ink, and now he was producing more of it purely for defensive purposes.
He gave up on attacking from a distance entirely, focusing everything on slashing down what was right before him.
Grey twisted through the air and his flight path suddenly shifted, spiralling around the tentacle that pierced for him.
He left thin cuts all along its surface, slashing it apart as though it was worth next to nothing.
Before Caldrin could sigh in relief that his defensive skill had done its job, tendrils of white gold exploded from it.
BANG.
Chi. Chi. Chi. Chi. Chi.
The tentacle was sliced to pieces and Grey slammed both feet first right into Caldrin’s head.
BOOM.
The enormous octopus boss was sent tumbling back. He weighed so heavily that Grey didn’t manage to do much with that. If he wasn’t cutting him, he definitely wasn’t going to harm a body this large, but he wasn’t trying to do that.
He used Caldrin’s body like a trampoline, leaping up, gathering more momentum, and then slashing down.
Caldrin’s tentacle swayed over. He only had five left and he was trying his best to protect them. But if he lost his head, then it didn’t matter how many tentacles he had left.
"What a pussy." Grey’s voice echoed and sent Caldrin’s blood boiling.
Grey vanished into Caldrin’s blind spot, following the arc of his tentacle and appearing on the ground just beneath the location it rose.
With a slash, the tentacle was severed from Caldrin’s body.
SKREEEEEEEEEE!
"You shriek like a little girl. Don’t you have some better boss dialogue? Actually, go back to what you were doing before, maybe you’ll stumble onto a combination of words that’s a little more badass by accident."
"GREY TEMOLT!"
Grey caught the tentacle out of the air and launched it into the skies.
Caldrin saw a flash of a memory. The last thing he wanted Grey to do was to eat another one of his arms right in front of him.
He instantly reached up to slap it down before Grey could do the same thing, only for Grey to appear nowhere near it. In fact, he appeared beneath the location of the next tentacle he raised, slashing out with all his might.
"You know, my full name has a nice ring to it. Do you mind saying it in a voice that’s a little more sultry, add a spice of sexiness to it?"
SSSSKKKRRREEEEEEE!
"Nono, that’s not it at all. You’ve gotta say something like: ’oh, Grey Temolt, my knight in shining armor. Nobody fucks me like you do’. Really get into character, you know?"
BOOM!
Grey seemed to be crushed beneath the tentacle, only for a thin line of white-gold to split it in two.
A sigh left Grey’s lips. "You can’t even follow instructions, I don’t know why I expected you to be any smarter than this. You know, back on Earth, they say that octopuses are some of the smartest non-mammals known to man.
"Seeing you, I think that’s a load of horseshit. You might legitimately be mentally retarded. Don’t you have like 11 brains or some shit? You couldn’t get one of them to work properly?"
BOOM.
Grey landed on a tentacle. The fewer arms Caldrin had, the easier his patterns were to read. After the first two were severed, it was practically like taking candy from a baby. So much so that Grey didn’t care and landed right on one.
"Oh, my bad. It’s my fault, isn’t it. Your extra brains are in your arms. You think if I take a big fat dump on your head you’ll be able to get them back? I don’t need that long to digest anymore, you know. I can be quick."

Caldrin was mad with rage, his blood pressure skyrocketing so much his body deflated as violet streams projectile jetted from his severed limbs.
Pa.
One of Caldrin’s eyes exploded as the blood vessel popped all over Grey.
Grey wiped his face with a palm and then licked at it. He shook his head.
"I was expecting more from sashimi. You really do taste like shit."
Caldrin swayed, seeing in threes and fours.
He was infuriated in a way he never had been before. He didn’t know it was possible to be so angry.
Everything he had ever had, everything he had ever been, was ripped away by the boy in front of him. And now he could do nothing as he was torn limb from limb, his body desecrated, his memory humiliated, and for what?
"AND FOR WHAT?!" Caldrin roared as though he was speaking to the gods themselves and asking for an answer.
"Hey, eyes over here you piece of shit. I’m the only god you should be praying to."
Grey stood in the skies, energy rolling around him. He had already pushed Caldrin to this point, there was nothing left to gain.
His spear thrummed, his energies raging, the world around him twisting and whining.
He pulled the spear back, steam billowing out from the corners of his mouth and his eyes blazing with crimson.
"YOU WON’T HAVE A GOOD END, GREY TEMOLT!"
Caldrin began to laugh and laugh, blood continuously leaking out of his body.
"IF IT’S NOT ME, THEN IT WILL BE THE ARC! IF IT IS NOT THE ARC, IT WILL BE THE PRODUCERS! IF IT IS NOT THE PRODUCERS, IT WILL BE THE GENESIS SYSTEM! ONE DAY YOU WILL DIE A HORRIBLE DEATH, I SWEAR IT! I SWEAR IT!"
"You see, that was a little better. I hope that keeps you warm and cozy in hell, you’re going to need it," Grey grinned.
Caldrin laughed and laughed, the undertones of sadness pitching forth.
"THE FATHER OF A GENESIS KING HAS DIED BECAUSE OF YOU! YOU WILL SUFFER BEFORE YOUR DEATH! YOU WILL SUFFER AS I HAVE!"
"Oh, yeah? Well, I’m sure that cunt deserved it too. Say hi to him for me, bitch."
Grey thrust his spear forward and a beam of white-gold cut the world in two.
