The Hospital.

Hearing Carl's question, the doctor, who apparently had a rather low threshold for amusement, was instantly entertained. He chuckled and shook his head at Carl.

"Unfortunately, no."

"..." Hearing this, Fiona couldn't help but feel exasperated.

Was it really appropriate for a doctor to talk like that?

"How is he?" Fiona asked again.

The doctor looked at Fiona.

Unlike last night, Fiona was wearing regular clothes now, but her face was haggard, making her look terrible.

losing interest, the doctor bluntly explained the situation. "Frank drank a lot of alcohol last night. His liver is toast. He needs a transplant immediately, otherwise, it won't be long before Frank dies..."

After listening.

Fiona's brows furrowed tightly together, and a chill ran down her spine. "'Won't be long'... what does that mean? How long?"

"Maybe a month or two, maybe half a month," the doctor gave a rough range. "It varies from person to person. Hard to say. It depends on his luck."

That fast?

Fiona couldn't accept it for a moment and was left speechless.

The doctor had been busy in the operating room for several hours and was exhausted. He didn't have the energy to stand there like an idiot waiting for Fiona to snap out of it. Seeing she had fallen silent, he simply turned and walked away.

A short while later.

Several nurses wheeled Frank out of the operating room.

Unconscious and looking as if he had aged significantly in an instant, Frank appeared in the view of Fiona and the others.

Fiona blinked subconsciously, her gaze landing on Frank and following him as he moved.

Over the past few years, there were many times when Fiona had fantasized, even looked forward to, Frank dying somewhere out there...

But, there were also times when Fiona hoped Frank wouldn't die. After all, the kids needed a father.

And now, the doctor had announced Frank's impending death...

Fiona's mind was in chaos; she had absolutely no idea what to do.

A long while passed.

Fiona and the others arrived at Frank's hospital room.

Frank was still in a deep sleep, looking as if he were already dead.

Ian remained very calm; he truly didn't care about Frank's death.

Carl didn't really know how he felt, so he continued to ponder Frank's funeral arrangements.

Fiona, with a dark face and red eyes, stared blankly at Frank.

It was interesting...

At a time like this, when Frank was about to die, all those shameless, scumbag behaviors of his seemed to vanish from Fiona's mind...

Fiona couldn't help but remember Frank's good points... although there weren't many, they did exist.

Fiona felt a wave of nostalgia.

After reminiscing for several minutes, Fiona took a deep breath to calm herself down. Then, looking at Carl and the others, she spoke to Jimmy.

"Jimmy, take Ian and the others back. There's no need for everyone to stay here. I'll stay and wait for Frank to wake up."

Having not slept all night, Jimmy's brain was barely functioning. He was desperate for sleep, feeling like he could doze off standing up.

Hearing this, Jimmy hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Okay."

Ian didn't care about Frank, but he did care about Fiona, so he asked, "Will you be okay here alone?"

Fiona nodded. "I'm fine. You guys go back."

Since Fiona said so, Ian didn't insist.

Soon.

Jimmy took Ian and the others and left, leaving only Frank and Fiona in the ward.

Fiona looked at Frank quietly again. Then, letting out a long sigh, she moved to a chair by the wall, sat down, closed her eyes, and fell asleep.

---

North Wallace Street.

Dexter was walking his dog, Daijiu. Seeing Jimmy's car return, he smiled, turned around, and walked back, planning to chat with Carl.

Carl had just gotten out of the car. Seeing Dexter, despite being very sleepy, he immediately smiled and greeted him. "Dexter."

Dexter returned the smile. "I heard an ambulance at your door last night. Who's in trouble?"

"Frank," Carl replied crisply, without any extra thoughts.

"What happened to him this time?" Dexter asked with 'concern.'

Carl briefly explained the situation.

After listening, Dexter laughed again. "That really is a pity. But, it's not surprising. Drinking like that, it was bound to happen sooner or later... You guys haven't had breakfast yet, right? Come to my place and eat."

Carl was indeed a bit hungry and agreed immediately. "Okay. Is there bacon?"

"Bianca is cooking. Go ahead. If there isn't any, ask her to make some. Don't be polite with her," Dexter replied.

Carl didn't waste time and sprinted toward Dexter's house.

Jimmy and Ian hadn't moved yet.

"Let's go," Dexter invited them again.

"Thanks," Ian and Jimmy thanked him in unison before moving.

shortly after.

Dexter's House.

Seeing so many people arrive, Bianca, who was busy in the kitchen, was slightly surprised at first. Then, without delay, she hurriedly opened the refrigerator to get more ingredients.

Jimmy was an adult and had been raised well. He proactively went to the kitchen door and spoke politely to Bianca. "Sorry to trouble you."

Bianca truly didn't mind and smiled happily. "No trouble. Just wait a few minutes, it'll be ready soon."

"Okay," Jimmy responded, but he didn't move. Instead, he stared at Bianca's back, lost in thought.

Bianca wasn't Jimmy's type; his trance had nothing to do with Bianca herself.

The reason he was lost in thought was purely because this kind of life was what Jimmy had always wanted to have with Fiona.

Two people living in a house, the years passing peacefully, without so much messy drama, living happily...

Lost in thought for a few seconds, Jimmy sighed silently before turning to sit at the dining table.

Dexter took out a cigarette and handed one to Jimmy. "Speaking of which, I haven't seen you in a long time."

Jimmy took the cigarette and smiled faintly. "It has been a while. Mr. King, your business is getting bigger and bigger. I saw the banners on the roadside."

Dexter smiled. "Just a spur-of-the-moment idea. I wanted to throw a party to liven things up. What about you? Still doing that business?"

Hearing this, Jimmy's expression changed slightly.

A long time ago, in the kitchen of Dex Restaurant, Dexter had subtly indicated to Jimmy that he knew Jimmy was a car thief.

Jimmy hadn't admitted it then.

Now, naturally, Jimmy wouldn't admit it either. He just shook his head. "I stopped doing that a long time ago."

Dexter didn't know about the deal between Tony and Jimmy. Hearing this, he was a bit curious. His mind worked quickly, guessing that it probably wasn't Jimmy's own choice to stop.

"Did you quit voluntarily? or was there outside pressure? If it's the latter, maybe I can help you."

"????" Jimmy was startled. immediately after, he looked at Dexter subconsciously, his mind racing.

Dexter was rich and was already a celebrity figure in the South Side, even Chicago. More importantly, Dexter wasn't as simple as he looked on the surface; he was actually a ruthless character...

If Dexter was willing to help, then maybe Tony's problem could really be solved.

Admittedly, Dexter would definitely demand something in return.

But, theoretically speaking, whatever Dexter demanded should be better than what Tony was demanding.

Jimmy felt a sudden surge of temptation.
