Chapter 693 - 691: The Family’s Charlatan (Part 16)

With this man’s personality, he must have obtained some information to make such a big show of inviting those masters to do a live broadcast.

Perhaps Shi Yang really has returned.

Wen Song’s fans hope Shi Yang can emerge, letting this man truly come alive.

His cold and calm demeanor truly makes one’s heart ache.

The draw is over, and Ah Chen drew number 4.

She made no changes, so her draw number is the same as that of the commissioner.

The card is just a room card, and there’s no need to look for her roommate on site. She can just follow the servant with her luggage to find her room number.

Before long, Ah Chen stood in front of the door marked with 4.

At the same time, the black-robed witch Deborah also appeared here. She glanced at Ah Chen and took out her own room card. They nodded to each other, and Ah Chen swiped her card to enter the room.

The two rooms of the suite seemed indistinguishable, and neither of them dwelled on this matter.

After placing her luggage, Ah Chen walked out of the room, while Deborah was already wandering around the living room, evidently checking for anything inappropriate that might be present.

When she first entered, Ah Chen had sensed that there were no cameras, no listening devices, nor any magic used to monitor the place.

Deborah clearly didn’t detect any of these during her round of checks, relaxing her tense body.

Those who can pass the test are, besides the slightly lucky commissioners, mostly skilled individuals.

No matter if the Wen Family has strange intentions, it’s unlikely they would place something misleading in the room from the start.

Unless it’s a test?

"Did you notice anything?" Deborah suddenly asked.

Her impression of Ah Chen was a quiet person who prefers not to speak, yet here she was, voluntarily asking a question.

Ah Chen didn’t think much, stating her assessment: "Nothing, it’s very clean."

"Seems like my inspection wasn’t flawed," Deborah said, her tone a bit lighter, further explaining, "Even if something were indeed found, the Wen Family would probably have their own explanation."

Ah Chen raised an eyebrow, wondering why Deborah’s tone was full of sarcasm; does she hold a grudge against the Wen Family?

Deborah said, "They would surely claim it’s a hidden test, provide rewards, and no one would question it."

Deborah’s sarcasm was blatant in that sentence.

Ah Chen was now sure that Deborah was dissatisfied with the Wen Family, though the reasons were unclear, she didn’t intend to inquire further.

Deborah, after all, met a fatal accident in the castle along with the commissioner.

Given Deborah’s performance, if there’s a grudge between her and the Wen Family, could it have been a conflict, or did the Wen Family notice Deborah was their foe and decided to eliminate her along with the commissioner?

But these are just speculations, and when the day comes, the truth will be revealed.

"For top-tier families like the Wen Family, handling these matters is easy. No matter what errors occur, they have perfect solutions." Deborah chuckled lightly, seemingly explaining her previous statement, where the sarcasm was now hidden, sounding completely normal.

Ah Chen added, "The Wen Family’s reputation has always been good; they wouldn’t create trouble for themselves."

"Of course," Deborah said, "but we still need to check to be sure, just in case there really is a hidden test."

"It seems like getting that fifty thousand hard-earned fee won’t affect it," Ah Chen said, "But if there truly is a hidden test, there might be extra rewards?"

Deborah slightly raised her head, looking deeply at Ah Chen, a hint of surprise flashing in her eyes, as if asking, are you truly here for the money?

Ah Chen responded with a look, asking in return, aren’t you?

Most of the people here are probably after money and fame, aren’t they?

With the Wen Family’s status, inviting actual experts should be easy, so why make such a fuss and invite people with just a prestigious name and little actual skill to help?

Is there another purpose, or have they already invited such experts, and now they are casting a wide net to try their luck?

She hadn’t deliberately investigated Wen Song’s situation, but she had been following it online, understanding most of it.

Now there’s another question, who is Shi Yang’s reincarnation, is it really Lin Xixi?

If it is Lin Xixi, then this broadcast is aimed at Lin Xixi.

What if it isn’t?

Understanding the meaning in Ah Chen’s eyes, Deborah was slightly speechless.

The two did not continue the conversation, as the sound of the butler Chen Wan’an’s voice came over the broadcast, reminding everyone to go to the dining room for a meal.

Upon arriving at the dining room, Ah Chen saw Luo Yun waving to her quickly, standing next to Ge Yu. After some exchanges, she learned that Luo Yun and Ge Yu had drawn the same number.

Ge Yu didn’t mind, aside from his roommate being a bit too lively, everything else was fine. Naturally, he had no objections, partly because the roommate was attractive, and looking better is always better.

"Brother Ge, want to join?" Fu Yingshu’s voice sounded, feeling familiar with Ge Yu, even if they were rivals, Ge Yu often competed with him; it seemed right to give a greeting.

This time, unfortunately, he didn’t draw the same number as his junior sister.

Ge Yu glanced back, gently shook his head: "No, thanks."

Apart from being particularly fixated on winning against Fu Yingshu, Ge Yu didn’t enjoy spending time with him.

The reason he wanted to outdo Fu Yingshu was not only because before the age of ten the other party was far inferior to him but also because of a strange attraction.

Every time he saw Fu Yingshu at a crucial moment, he felt an urge to surpass him.

He tried to control it, but to no avail; if he didn’t engage in competition, he became irritated, which in turn affected his cultivation.

He’s a genius in the mystical art world, but certainly, there are those more skilled, and he doesn’t have a personality that can’t accept others being better than him.

But as the years passed, many believed he was unhappy because Fu Yingshu suddenly surpassed him, therefore he clung to Fu Yingshu relentlessly.

He’s not someone who likes to explain himself, even if he did, no one would believe it, they’d think he’s making excuses, so he simply doesn’t bother.

Being rejected was expected, and Fu Yingshu didn’t push further.

He saw Ge Yu sitting at Ah Chen’s table, frowned, but ultimately said nothing. His gaze swept over the jade token on Ah Chen’s neck, wondering what kind of magic artifact it was, enabling Feng Chen to pass.

If he weren’t sure of its power, he would indeed want to explore what’s going on. However, with possible marks on it, probing recklessly might cause trouble, he thought regretfully.

Ge Yu often kept an eye on Fu Yingshu, and seeing the other’s gaze, he too glanced at Ah Chen.

The ancient jade was indeed special, but nothing revealing to the naked eye.

Since it was someone else’s possession, even curiosity wouldn’t lead him to pry further.

"Do you have any ideas about finding Miss Shi’s reincarnation?" Luo Yun suddenly asked.
