Chapter 172: "No one Touches Him under My Watch."

Evan’s use of the Law of Space hadn’t gone unnoticed at all. In fact, the plant, which had been fending off Ash’s attacks while at the same time coordinating its subordinates to inflict as much damage on Evan as possible, found itself caught off guard this time.

’How is he using a Law of Space, that shouldn’t be possible, I don’t sense any concept core of space in him,’ the avatar thought, shocked, when it saw one of its subordinates reduced to a sphere by the Law of Space.

As a creature born from Void Energy, it possessed a natural understanding of the various Laws and Concepts. It wasn’t enough to truly wield them, but it was more than sufficient to recognize their nature.

Precisely because of this, it understood just how difficult something like that actually was, and precisely because of that, it understood that a being without a bloodline or some sort of connection to the Law of Space shouldn’t have been able to do something like this.

It had already noticed that individual’s use of void energy, something that had initially made it confuse him for one of its own.

But as the fight continued, it had quickly realized that wasn’t the case.

The being before it was no Hollow.

Which only made the situation even more incomprehensible.

Void Energy belonged to the Abyss. It was the source from which Hollows were born. Only creatures originating from that energy should have been able to wield it.

Humans were creatures of mana.

The two should never coexist.

In other words, the being before it was a living contradiction, exactly the kind of thing beings like itself, guardians of order, had been created to eliminate.

’He... cannot be allowed to live.’ That was its decision.

A being that could use both mana and void energy, and had gone so far as to influence other Laws, all in one, shouldn’t exist, because if that were allowed, it was nothing but a ticking time bomb, one that would bring even more trouble for them in the future.

It had to be eliminated.

’I must report this to the Original.’ it thought, using the connection binding it to its original self to transmit that information. But just as it was about to do so, that connection seemed to be severed.

’What?! Who dares!’The avatar immediately sensed someone from outside interfering with its connection, even cutting it off entirely, which sent it into a blind fury.

It immediately located the source of that interference, and its many eyes snapped at once toward the divine-looking woman at the edge of the battlefield.

"You..." Its killing intent surged.

It immediately realized she was the one responsible.

"A pitiful being like you actually dared interfere with the connection to the Original? Such audaci—" it screamed those words, furious, warped and barely coherent, and they rang out immediately through the air around the battlefield, reaching the goddess’s ears like a threat ready to detonate.

But it never finished, not because it chose to stop, but because it suddenly felt terror.

Its gaze fell on the woman’s face, calm, too calm, but that wasn’t what triggered such a reaction in it.

No, it wasn’t her face, it was her eyes.

They were glowing, intensely, with an almost manic intensity as she looked at it.

But she wasn’t looking at it. No, she was looking directly, precisely at the piece of soul within it that was linked by an invisible bond to its original self, the bond she had just severed.

She opened her mouth, and a calm voice left her lips. It was too soft to carry across the battlefield, yet every word reached the Avatar as if spoken directly beside it, carrying a weight and intensity that made its very soul tremble.

"Do not attempt such petty tricks again, because no one touches him under my watch."

"So be a good little weed..."

"...and wait quietly for your death."

There was no rage. No killing intent. No overwhelming aura.

Only an almost disturbingly calm voice.

Yet that very calmness, combined with the madness hidden within her gaze, froze the Avatar’s very soul.

’This woman... what is she-’

It didn’t understand why this was happening, or why out of nowhere that woman had decided to become so terrifying, but it had no time to dwell on it further, because it was soon struck by an absurd, senseless pain.

SCREEEEECH!

That pain was the kind it felt whenever its subordinates were eliminated, they were parts of itself after all, but that pain shouldn’t have been so intense. It had already experienced it on a small scale before whenever a few subordinates were eliminated, but this, this was too much. What was happening?

Only then did its attention snap back to the battlefield, and what it saw shook it.

’What? How...’ What it saw was a field completely emptied its own minions.

The army it had painstakingly created, every single subordinate it had brought into existence...

All of them had vanished.

What remained were only shattered wooden spheres, broken roots, and lifeless remains scattered across the ground.

They’d all been wiped out in a single, devastating blow.

It had all happened too fast. Barely a second had passed since it felt its bond severed and exchanged words with that woman, and yet in that same second, out of nowhere, its minions had been annihilated.

Only then did it sense fluctuations of energy in the surroundings, it was the Law of Space, and it was present in massive quantity.

It understood immediately what had happened, and its gaze dropped to the strange human nearby, who was no longer fighting but simply standing still, staring at it.

"It was you," it said, its voice full of frustration and rage, along with the searing pain it still felt.

That human had used the Law of Space again, but on a much larger scale this time, large enough to strike down all of its subordinates in a single blow.
