“Let me take a look for you.”
Leon wasn’t surprised by her offer. After all, Galaxy Weapons were known for being unusually lightweight. His own Galaxy Watermelon Knife was the same.
As long as it wasn’t extended too much, its weight was far less than other weapons of similar size.
What really piqued his interest, though, was the attribute set of Abigail’s Galaxy Rapier.
“Here.” Abigail wasn’t stingy in the least, handing the rapier over without hesitation.
The moment Leon held it, the system appraisal appeared before his eyes.
“Galaxy Rapier (Level 13 Sword): 50–70 damage, +11 speed, +5 critical chance, +50 critical power
Special Trait: Spellcasting Medium”
In terms of raw stats, it completely outclassed Leon’s normal-sized Galaxy Watermelon Knife. Of course, if he extended his weapon into a large form, its attack value could far surpass the rapier’s.
But the special trait—Spellcasting Medium—caught him off guard.
Judging from the name, this meant that beyond its excellent physical combat abilities, the rapier could also function as a magic conduit, much like a staff. That fit perfectly with Abigail’s latent potential to become a mage.
“Well? Figure anything out?” Seeing Leon deep in thought with her rapier in hand, Abigail couldn’t wait any longer.
“It’s an excellent weapon—better than my Galaxy Watermelon Knife, in fact. And it has a unique function. But that part… I can’t tell you for now. Once you start getting involved with that kind of thing, someone will explain it to you.”
Leon left out his guess about the Spellcasting Medium trait.
Since Abigail hadn’t learned magic yet, telling her now would mean little. If Rasmodius ever remembered to take her on as a disciple, his explanation would be far more accurate than anything Leon could offer.
“Tch, so secretive. You’re not hiding it because you’re jealous, are you?” Abigail grumbled.
“Yeah, you’re right. I am jealous.” Leon grinned. Truth be told, he was a little jealous—the rapier’s design was gorgeous.
“I don’t believe you.” Abigail waved him off. If Leon were truly jealous, he wouldn’t have admitted it so openly. His frankness only made her think he was teasing her.
Leon sighed. These days, even honesty went unbelieved. He handed the Galaxy Rapier back to her. “Believe what you want. But I’d suggest you figure out how to store it properly. If you take this home, Pierre will probably scold you again.”
“I could just leave it with you. You’ve got your own personal storage space, right?” Abigail replied casually.
“You’re not worried I might just keep it?” Leon asked helplessly.
“Not at all. I know you wouldn’t. And if you really wanted it, well… it’s just a weapon. You could take it.”
“Honestly, I’m not fixated on the rapier itself. What matters is that I forged my own Galaxy Weapon with a Prismatic Shard. That proves I’m not useless—that I have the potential to become a powerful warrior, right?”
“Your mindset sure shifted quickly.” Leon was genuinely impressed that she could say something like that.
“Hehe, of course. After all, I’m now a warrior recognized by Yoba himself. Next step, maybe I should try joining the Adventurer’s Guild. Do you think I’d make it?” Abigail beamed as she spoke, already mapping out her future.
“I’d say don’t join the Adventurer’s Guild. You’ve got better options.” Leon shook his head immediately.
Before, he wouldn’t have cared. But after hearing Sandy’s intel, letting Abigail join the Guild could mean all sorts of trouble. For both personal and practical reasons, he didn’t want her to take that path.
Besides, she had a gift for magic. Being an elegant mage was far more refined than charging into battle swinging wildly.
If Rasmodius hadn’t declared Leon talentless in the arcane arts, he himself might have worked to become a mage.
“This young man is right. Joining the Adventurer’s Guild would be a waste for you, young lady. The Magic Department would suit you far better.”
The sudden voice came from a woman standing beside them—a woman with a graceful figure, dressed in the same style of wizard’s robe Rasmodius wore. But unlike his loose, worn garments, hers were form-fitting and ornate. Golden threads embroidered elemental motifs across the fabric. Golden hair spilled down her back beneath the brim of her pointed hat.
Her most striking features were her refined, alluring face, the beauty mark beneath her eye, and the purple lipstick that—while unflattering on many—only enhanced her air of wicked charm.
She was a witch radiating both feminine allure and an air of mystery.
Her sudden appearance made Leon instinctively draw his Galaxy Watermelon Knife, holding it ready while shielding Abigail behind him.
Given his recent knowledge that a certain witch had transformed Old Hans into a giant python and was scheming against him, Leon was wary of all witches.
“Relax. I mean you no harm. You may not know me, Leon, but if I told you I’m a friend of Rasmodius—his best friend, in fact—you wouldn’t see me as an enemy, would you?” the witch said with a smile.
“If you’re really a friend of Wizard Rasmodius, then you should know his… defining traits.” Leon smiled back, but kept his weapon raised.
“You mean how petty he is?” she replied without hesitation.
“Mm. Looks like you really are his friend.” Leon finally eased up. Anyone who could say that about Rasmodius so openly probably wasn’t an enemy.
