Using King’s Dominion despite the system’s warning came down to two reasons.
First, he was exhausted after keeping God’s Eye active for hours after traveling around for long. Second, he wanted to witness what the skill was truly capable of, something he couldn’t experience while controlling his own body.
He had already fought the creature for nearly a minute and failed to land a single blow. Now he wanted to see how he would perform at his absolute peak.
"King’s Dominion."
The moment those words left his lips, the constant buzzing in his ears disappeared. His heartbeat slowed to a calm rhythm, and every distracting thought simply vanished.
The frost monster charged once more, its massive lance sweeping toward him with enough force to shatter stone.
Kyle didn’t move.
He stood perfectly still, his eyes calmly following every motion of his opponent.
Only when the lance was about to strike did he make his move.
With nothing more than a slight tilt of his body, he guided the attack past himself, effortlessly redirecting its course.
"Raaah!"
The inhuman creature roared and swung his massive arm in a wide arc, aiming to crush Kyle.
Its strike met nothing but empty air.
The monster immediately spun around.
Kyle was already standing atop one of the frozen statues.
Aquilla materialized in his hand.
Before the creature could react, Kyle leaped into the sky. His body twisted in a flawless flip, placing him directly above his target. Drawing the bow to its limit, he released.
THUNK
The arrow buried itself into the frozen ground.
"GRAAAAH!"
The creature screamed in agony the instant it struck.
The second monster instinctively retreated, sensing something was terribly wrong.
Kyle gave them no time to recover.
One arrow after another rained from the sky, each carrying the same dreadful property.
Genesis Suppression.
Against beings sustained by overwhelming amounts of Genesis, those arrows were no ordinary projectiles. They were like a deadly disease, devouring the very force that kept them alive.
The frost monster convulsed as its Genesis was relentlessly suppressed.
Kyle continued firing without pause, refusing to give his enemies even a single moment to recover.
One...
Two...
Four...
Seven...
Kyle didn’t stop until fifteen arrows surrounded the apostle from every direction.
"Ah... my Lord..."
The apostle’s hoarse voice echoed across the frozen battlefield as he remained on his knees. His body convulsed violently, twisting into unnatural shapes.
The brilliant golden radiance that had once enveloped him was gone.
Now, the price of containing power never meant for a human was finally being collected.
Kyle calmly summoned his spear and walked through the ring of arrows.
There wasn’t the slightest trace of hesitation in his eyes.
With a single sweeping strike, the spear severed the apostle’s head.
Thud.
Thirty-five seconds.
The battle was over.
"Haah..."
Kyle let out a slow breath as King’s Dominion came to an end.
That...
...was insane.
Watching the apostle’s head gradually dissolve into countless glowing particles, he asked, ’Why is he fading like a rift monster?’
[Host, the vessel had become too fragile from the excessive overload. After death, its body was reclaimed by nature itself, allowing the Genesis within it to return to the world.]
"..."
Not even peace in death.
Rest in peace, random dude.
Turning toward the surviving apostle, Kyle noticed he had also been affected by the Genesis Suppression arrows.
He could finish him with a single thrust of his spear.
Just as Kyle took a step forward, the system’s warning rang out.
[Don’t, Host!]
Kyle frowned.
’What happened?’
"Kuhuhu... you are an amusing one."
A sinister laugh escaped the apostle’s lips.
In an instant, the pain contorting his face vanished.
A malicious grin spread across it as he straightened his posture and casually rested his hands on his hips.
The arrows lost their effect and vanished from existence. And Kyle could tell it was the influence of the apostle...or whatever that thing has become.
"I see you now," he said, his eyes fixed on Kyle. "You truly are one of a kind. Unlike all those other weaklings."
Kyle’s eyes narrowed.
"Who are you?"
God’s Eye remained fully active, tracking even the slightest movement.
His instincts screamed at him not to get any closer.
Whatever had taken over the apostle’s body...
...was something far more dangerous than the man standing before him.
"I am someone who wants to rip your soul apart... then laugh as your corpse rots."
The apostle’s bloodshot eyes widened with unrestrained excitement.
"Thanks to that woman... I’ve found such delightful prey."
Kyle’s gaze turned cold.
"Ethara, huh? No wonder she despises you."
The apostle let out a low, unsettling chuckle.
"Despises me? What does that matter?" His grin stretched wider. "Soon enough, she’ll scream my name instead of cursing it. She is nothing but a bed warmer, just clinging to her laughable pride."
Kyle stared at him for a moment before letting out a dry laugh.
"Wow. That was painfully pathetic. Guess watching your mother warming others’s bed really shaped your worldview."
The grin disappeared.
Silence fell.
Kyle never shifted from his stance.
Just hearing the bastard speak Ethara’s name with that filthy mouth made his blood boil.
[Host, please back away! The apostle is going berserk!]
The system’s warning echoed, though Kyle could already see it.
The apostle’s arms and legs swelled as torrents of magical energy erupted from his body. The stone pavement beneath his feet fractured under the pressure.
Golden lightning coiled around him as he roared.
"I’ve changed my mind."
His voice turned deep and monstrous.
"I won’t kill you."
"I’ll tear you apart while you’re still breathing."
[Host!]
The apostle exploded forward, golden lightning raging around his body. A blazing sphere of condensed energy formed around his right fist as he drove it straight toward Kyle’s chest.
Kyle didn’t move.
He simply raised one hand.
The moon answered.
Silver sparks gathered around his body.
The manifestation of his soul expanded, swallowing the entire battlefield.
The apostle never slowed.
His fist crashed into Kyle’s chest.
But...
CRUMBLE.
The attack disintegrated into glowing cinders before it could touch him.
The apostle’s pupils shrank.
"...What?"
[Congratulations, Host! You have manifested your Field!]
