Juliana did not attend Elias Langley’s wedding.
But Raine Kane went.
She went in disguise.
She livestreamed the entire event for her.
Elias Langley had been urging for a thorough investigation into Dylan Paxton’s affairs for a long time. Now, with this opportunity, a life taken in public, no matter how much Dylan might try to cover it up, it wouldn’t last long.
Juliana was filled with unease about the unknown, so she took the Jade Token Elias Langley gave her before his incident and went to Northgate Curios.
The shop was very small, and the business seemed quite slow, with even the flower-patterned windowsills covered in dust, and the owner hadn’t cleaned them.
"Welcome, what would you like to purchase?"
The shopkeeper was a woman.
Juliana took out the Jade Token.
"Hello, my Jade Token got chipped; can it be repaired?"
The woman took it, examined it carefully, and asked with a smile, "This is a fine piece of jade. Repairing it truly tests the artisan’s skill. How did you know we could handle such repairs?"
"My husband mentioned this place before he left, so I thought I’d give it a try. If it’s not possible, I won’t mind," Juliana replied.
As she spoke, Juliana attempted to take the Jade Token back.
But the woman kept the token in her hand.
"We can indeed repair it here, but it will take some time. By the way, do you have any specific requirements?"
Juliana had been waiting for this response.
"Once it’s repaired, I naturally hope it will provide me some assurance of safety and well-being."
The woman nodded, "As long as it’s with me, rest assured. I’ll notify you when it’s ready for pickup."
Juliana didn’t ask any more questions and left the shop to head to the hospital.
Upon reaching the special ward area, she noticed several additional bodyguards.
She paused and saw Caleb Shaw emerging from inside.
Caleb was somewhat surprised to see her.
"Here to see my sister?"
Juliana nodded, "This is..."
"A few days ago, someone came to inquire about my sister’s condition. Auden Hughes happened to be there and drove them away. It made me uneasy, so I bolstered security."
Juliana immediately dismissed the idea of visiting Summer Shaw.
She didn’t want her visit to pose any potential risk to Summer Shaw.
"How is she?"
"Auden Hughes’ cell therapy is very effective; her heart function is recovering, and she’s beginning to respond to external stimuli." Caleb spoke with a hint of long-lost hope in his eyes. "I hope she wakes up soon."
"That’s good to hear." Juliana glanced towards the ward, "I’ll leave the company matters to you during this time."
Without lingering further, she turned and left the ward area.
The next day, she went to Nivoria Biotech Tower again.
Juliana’s condition no longer required an IV drip, only injections sufficed.
In the Chairman’s Office.
Mrs. Sinclair removed her gloves and nodded at her husband, who had been hesitant to speak several times.
Only then did Sebastian Sinclair ask, "What exactly happened between you and Elias Langley?"
Previously, they had heard that Elias Langley was to marry Iris Paxton, but Juliana hadn’t informed them, believing she was a child with her own mind, so they hadn’t asked.
Until yesterday’s incident at Elias Langley’s wedding involving a life lost, the couple could no longer sit still.
Juliana calmly replied as she adjusted her sleeve, "We’ve divorced."
Sebastian Sinclair and his wife were wide-eyed in disbelief.
"Old Mr. Paxton handled our paperwork, with no waiting period—our divorce certificate was issued within two hours."
Sebastian was so enraged he was at a loss for words.
"He thinks he can control everything just because he has power? His... days of good fortune are coming to an end!"
Just as he said this, the secretary buzzed the doorbell.
The door opened, and Old Mr. Sinclair stormed in, cursing.
"Not a soul to be seen at home early in the morning, I said, you all..."
Before he could finish, he caught sight of Juliana.
Old Mr. Sinclair was instantly furious.
"Why is the murderer who harmed my granddaughter still here? Are you all out of your minds, associating with this heartless person?"
Just as he finished speaking, five or six men in black suddenly rushed in through the door, which hadn’t been closed yet.
Their target was clear, heading straight for Sebastian Sinclair.
The incident happened so suddenly that just when no one had time to react, Caleb Donovan suddenly rushed out, shoving Sebastian back, and engaged the men.
At the same time, Raine Kane also ran forward and shielded Juliana.
"What’s going on?" Mrs. Sinclair turned pale, "This building has the most advanced security systems; if these people barged in, it should’ve caused a commotion. How did they just come up here?"
Raine Kane focused on Caleb Donovan, seeing that he wasn’t faring well, a solemn look appeared in her eyes.
"An insider sabotaged the security system; if it weren’t for us, those downstairs might not even know what’s happening here."
She paused, "Juliana, I’ll go help Caleb; you find a chance to run outside."
As they spoke, no one noticed that Old Mr. Sinclair took two steps back behind Raine Kane.
Just as Raine Kane was about to leap forward to assist Caleb Donovan, Old Mr. Sinclair suddenly thrust a needle hidden in his sleeve into Raine Kane’s neck.
Raine Kane reflexively kicked Old Mr. Sinclair, sending him flying.
Old Mr. Sinclair landed on the sofa, seemingly unharmed.
"Raine!"
Juliana immediately supported her, but Raine Kane still went weak all over, gradually collapsing to the floor, slipping into unconsciousness.
Mrs. Sinclair never expected the traitor to be Old Mr. Sinclair. She immediately yelled at him, "How could you help outsiders harm your own family? If you’re sick, why didn’t you just die sooner?"
At that moment, Nivoria Biotech’s security personnel rushed in.
Both sides instantly clashed, and the office descended into chaos.
Seeing the difficulty of taking Sebastian Sinclair away, the other side immediately implemented a second plan: they suddenly changed targets and forcibly took Juliana and Mrs. Sinclair, rushing out of the blockade and quickly withdrawing.
Old Mr. Sinclair, seeing them about to withdraw, hurried to grab one by the arm.
"Dylan Paxton promised; if I let you in, you’d take me with you."
The man turned back, his face filled with malevolence, and said in broken Chinese, "Our orders were to get the hostages; you’re of no use anymore."
He flung his arm, exerting great force.
Old Mr. Sinclair was hurled aside, his head striking the wall with a heavy "thud."
He watched helplessly as the men escaped, opening his mouth but unable to speak...
By the time support arrived, the opposing side had vanished without a trace.
Caleb Donovan’s arm was injured, but he couldn’t concern himself with that; after a simple bandage, he immediately arranged various matters.
Old Mr. Sinclair was placed on a stretcher, while Sebastian Sinclair regarded him without a hint of pity.
"Why did you help Paxton against your own family?" he demanded through clenched teeth.
Old Mr. Sinclair felt dizzy and faint.
"Dylan Paxton said... if you’d meet him... he could ensure I wouldn’t be convicted... The Sinclairs... cannot have a stain... This is still your fault... You just need to see him... I wouldn’t have... brought them here."
"You fool!" Sebastian’s eyes were reddened, "He wants what’s in my hands. If I go, there’s no way I’d come back alive. You’ve harmed not only my wife but also your own granddaughter! You’re the Sinclairs’ disgrace!"
"Granddaughter?" Old Mr. Sinclair was incredulous.
"Juliana is Helena," Sebastian enunciated carefully, "she’s my biological daughter. Your two beloved adoptive daughters don’t hold a candle to her."
