After Miles left, Evan arrived shortly.
He brought a complete set of prenatal nutritional supplements and the latest maternal and infant care materials, clearly doing his homework with more dedication than the child’s father.
He only stopped by the bedside for a moment, speaking little, yet every word was sincere.
"Take good care of yourself. If the company needs additional investments, speak up anytime; I’ll fully support you."
By today, he was no longer the Evan Grant who only wanted to keep her as a caged bird.
She liked the vast sky and sea, so he gave her enough drive to fly.
Evan didn’t stay long in the ward. After saying what he needed, he left the items and then took his leave.
Elias watched coldly, silently labeling him as "number three."
Just as Evan departed, Auden arrived right after.
He was even more "obedient," adhering to Juliana’s instructions to heal Summer, barely uttering a word beyond a nod and saying "okay."
Even if he made himself nonexistent, he remembered every word Juliana said.
Finally, Elias lost patience and forcefully sent him away.
He couldn’t hold back anymore.
"Isn’t there number five? Call them together; I’ll send them off all at once."
Juliana was head down, flipping through the materials Evan brought, and responded without lifting an eyelid, correcting casually, "He’s not number five, he’s number six."
Elias was taken aback, "...Where are number four and five?"
Almost answering his query, the door to the ward was knocked again.
Adrian and Jared had flown to Kingsford, insisting on seeing Juliana safe with their own eyes.
Upon seeing Elias, they respectfully greeted him with "second aunt."
"Is your health alright? We’ve been worried sick." Adrian asked earnestly.
Juliana looked up, her eyes instantly filled with laughter, "I’m fine, your second uncle already knows."
The Langley brothers blinked simultaneously.
Jared smiled slightly, "Juliana, what’s the plan after the showdown?"
Elias was already petrified, blood filling his chest, his vision darkening...
Two days later, Juliana completed a full physical examination, meeting discharge standards, and smoothly returned to the Jacobs Estate.
And since then, Elias began trying a brand-new lifestyle.
He actively cooperated using the nerve repair medication sent by Nivoria Biotech, regularly injecting without interruption.
He put away all of his exposed sharpness, almost awkwardly learning to be a "normal" husband.
Juliana’s daily meals were personally overseen by him, all warm and suitable pregnant woman’s meals; he didn’t miss any prenatal checkups, quietly accompanying her; even patiently accompanied her to maternity stores to choose loose and soft clothes for her and the child.
Occasionally Juliana felt as if the old Elias had returned.
However, when another man approached Juliana, his gaze still turned cold, no longer interfering forcefully but turning away stiffly instead.
But for this persona, it was a drastic change.
Juliana observed, no longer mentioning divorce, but the two continued to sleep in separate rooms.
After Mrs. Sinclair recovered, the family went to the Sinclair Family graveyard to move Isabelle Sinclair’s ashes, hastily reburied them in a public cemetery.
Juliana wasn’t there for ancestral worship but to pay respects to Susan’s sister, Clara.
Their car was knocked into the river by Sean Paxton years ago, with Clara using all her strength at the last moment to push Juliana out of the car, but she couldn’t escape and remained forever in the icy river water.
Juliana presented her with a bouquet of white chrysanthemums, while Susan cried uncontrollably beside her.
"Miss, I’m sorry, that I treated you like that back then..."
Juliana waved her hand, gesturing not to say anymore.
Compared to the loss of life, past entanglements appeared so light.
Throughout these years, albeit thorny and nerve-wracking every step of the way, someone always reached out to her, either pushing her forward or lighting a brief illumination.
In the end, there are still more good people in this world.
Dylan Paxton’s trial took place, and Juliana attended to testify with Elias accompanying her.
Identifying the driver who pursued Sebastian Sinclair and knocked her into the river fourteen years ago as Sean Paxton.
Combining with the evidence left by Sean Paxton before his death, the evidence was overwhelming.
Dylan Paxton was sentenced to death in the first trial.
And Stella Windsor involved in multiple homicides, with solid evidence, was likewise sentenced to death.
However, both have appealed the judgment.
But everyone knows, the result won’t change; the appeal is just a delay.
Juliana is over five months pregnant and maybe due to pregnancy hormones, she craves a bit of warmth nightly.
This craving even affects her sleep.
One night, in a half-dream state, she noticed someone approaching the bedside, quietly sitting down, motionless for a long time.
She opened her eyes, and in the dim light, the man’s silent profile almost overlapped with the gentle waiting in the hospital that night.
Juliana’s heart stirred, and she sat up.
"Is...did you come back?"
Elias didn’t reply, only leaned down and gently kissed her forehead like that night.
This familiar response made Juliana put down all her defenses, surprise and reliance surging in her heart.
She almost didn’t think, but lifted her face and kissed his lips proactively...
One night, cautious yet reckless.
The next morning, Juliana woke up in Elias’s arms.
She motioned and reached out, habitually wanting to smooth the little crease between his brows in his sleep.
However, as her fingertip touched his skin, the man suddenly opened his eyes, gripping her wrist firmly.
That force made Juliana grimace slightly.
The former Elias sleeping with her absolutely wouldn’t act like this, so does that mean... he switched back?
"You... you’re awake."
Elias’s gaze dodged.
Juliana instantly understood, he never truly returned last night; he was deceiving her.
"Elias, divorce! If not, you’ll be my son!"
In the courtyard, after saying this, Juliana turned to leave, only to stagger on her feet.
Elias reacted swiftly, almost sliding on his knees, firmly holding her, preventing her from falling.
Juliana struggled to break free; he didn’t let go, lifting his head like an abandoned puppy.
"Mommy, I was wrong... don’t leave me..."
Juliana paused slightly. If not for her well-practiced expression management, she would have certainly lost composure instantly.
Months of "self-cultivation" hadn’t returned him to the calm and composed demeanor of the past; instead, his actions became more unexpected, without any pattern to follow.
Juliana’s head hurt.
Just then, Jared’s figure appeared at the gate.
Elias didn’t have time to stand up, quickly crouched on the ground, gently stroking the floor tiles.
"The height of this tile... indeed 0.8 centimeters higher than the one beside it, so..."
He propped up his upper body, looking at Juliana.
"Madam almost tripped here just now. Let’s just rip out the entire courtyard’s tiles and relay them."
He solemnly stood up, dusting off his pants, secretly thinking: At least my image is saved.
However, Jared had been watching from outside the door for a while.
Thinking the two might really divorce this time, wasn’t expecting his second uncle to even resort to kneeling.
Would rather be a son than get divorced, such boldness, he couldn’t muster it, willingly giving up.
"What are you here for?" Elias turned his gaze toward him.
Jared stepped forward, "I heard second aunt is alright, so I personally came to invite second aunt..."
Under Elias’s intimidating gaze, Jared added "second uncle."
"...inviting second aunt and second uncle to Kenton to attend the inauguration reception of Blackstar Technologies’ new chairman."
Juliana pushed aside Elias, "Chairman? Who is it?"
