At three o’clock in the afternoon, everyone finished their meal.
Windsor Myres finally felt liberated, as if she had endured a punishment.
The River Family had too many rules.
Even though they spoke during meals, it was mostly in hushed tones, and everyone sat with impeccable posture, as strict as a military drill.
Especially because these rules were self-imposed.
She didn’t want to stay any longer.
At three thirty, she used the excuse of booking a hotel room to call Camden River to go out with her.
There was a breeze, so the weather was not as hot as at noon.
Camden River booked a room for her at a hotel nearby and escorted her up, but soon he wanted to leave.
Windsor Myres naturally wouldn’t allow it, pouting at him, "You really want to leave me alone in the hotel? I don’t want that, come play outside with me, will you? Let’s see the Riverside night view?"
"Can you be a little more understanding?" Camden River placed his hands on her shoulders, saying helplessly, "Didn’t you see my parents’ expressions? Just stay here, and if you get bored, you can go out for a walk. I’ll go home first and come out again tomorrow to accompany you."
"I don’t want to." Windsor Myres’s face suddenly fell.
Camden River looked at her, unable to decide whether to leave or stay, caught in a bit of a dilemma.
Windsor Myres wrapped her arms around his waist and spoke in a soft, coquettish voice, "I really miss you. You have no idea what kind of days I’ve had these two years. Life without you has been utterly boring. Stay with me, even if just for a little while."
Her voice was soft and gentle, and as she looked up at him, Camden River felt a bit softened.
There were sweet moments in their memories too.
Even though Windsor Myres was often unreasonable, during the good times in their relationship, she had a rather gentle side, especially when being coy, which always made him find it rare and pleasurable.
Camden River sighed and patted her back, saying, "Haven’t we reconciled? Don’t overthink it."
"But your parents clearly like that white lotus!" Windsor Myres complained sullenly.
She was really fed up.
In her anger, there was also a trace of panic, unsure of what to do.
Rosy Harris, someone like that, was obviously a manipulative ’white lotus’. Once she was gone, who knows what kind of bad things she’d say about her in the River Family. The fact that Camden River wanted to go back made her feel very insecure.
Windsor Myres held his arm tighter and tighter, using so much force she almost squeezed it off.
With her exerting such force, Camden River naturally felt pained, and gently reassured her, "Sweetheart, you should have more faith in me. Even after our breakup, I haven’t dated anyone else these past two years, right? Don’t overthink things."
"Do you love me?" Windsor Myres asked, her voice trembling.
"Yeah."
"No, don’t just say yeah, I want to hear you say it." Windsor Myres looked into his eyes, demanding.
Her expression was full of anticipation, looking pitifully helpless.
Camden River answered her with a kiss.
