Chapter 1020 - 1047: Deliberate Targeting (1)

Eight people split into four teams, with every two responsible for one district.

Mia Ginger’s article wasn’t actually long, just a few hundred words, and it was done in no time.

Hugo Potter finished processing the photos and checked the recording by four o’clock.

Reagon Chapman had returned.

There was no time for Hugo Potter to say much to Mia Ginger, he checked and revised the article himself, and directly combined their work, signing both their names at the end: Reporter, Hugo Potter, Intern Reporter, Mia Ginger.

Reagon Chapman skimmed through the article without saying much.

Mia Ginger breathed a sigh of relief.

Spending more than half an hour on a few hundred words made her pretty slow, but actually, the quality was quite good.

She noticed that Hugo Potter only changed a few words.

Mia Ginger sat in front of her computer browsing the web. Meanwhile, she also noticed that other reporters who had run the news today had entered quite a relaxed state, browsing the web while waiting to clock out.

Sunshining Network’s normal working hours were nine to five.

"Mia Ginger, come here for a moment."

Reagon Chapman’s voice suddenly came to her ears, causing Mia Ginger to pause before getting up to walk over.

"Make this call."

Reagon Chapman was still sorting through the articles submitted to her, casually handing Mia a small advertisement without even turning her head.

Mia Ginger was perplexed and raised her hand to take it.

Reagon Chapman turned half her body to look at her, speaking indifferently, "This is a recruiting ad for Fortune Mart. Not sure if you’ve noticed, but it’s posted everywhere on the streets. You call these two recruiting numbers below to see if this matter is true."

"Alright." Mia Ginger nodded.

She essentially understood that Reagon Chapman suspected this was a scam ad posing as recruitment, intending to clarify and alert the public to summer job scams.

However—

Thinking about the time, she glanced at Reagon Chapman, "Is this news supposed to go out today?"

Reagon Chapman paused, "I told you to go, why are you talking so much?"

Mia Ginger: "..."

She confirmed reluctantly, "Do I write the article myself after calling?"

"Who’s going to help you then?"

"Got it." Mia Ginger turned around and went back to her seat.

The girl next to her glanced at her and whispered, "How did you offend her as soon as you came here?"

Mia Ginger smiled casually, "No idea."

As soon as she finished speaking, realizing it was almost time to clock out, the office area was quite busy, so she picked up the phone and went into the booth to make a call.

As soon as the call connected, she pressed the record button.

There were two contact numbers in total, one male, one female.

Mia Ginger dialed the man’s number first, straightforwardly saying she was a reporter, but before she could speak her second sentence, he hung up on her directly. When she called again, no one answered; she recorded it truthfully since attitude speaks for itself.

No matter if the other party speaks or not, the reporter always has something to say.

She then dialed the second number, which a young woman answered.

Unlike last time, this time Mia Ginger posed as a job seeker, and the woman on the other end talked for quite a while, eagerly inviting her for an interview at some office in some building, refusing to divulge anything more, generally dodging questions and only willing to talk face-to-face. In the end, when Mia Ginger revealed her identity, no one answered.

Considering both points, Mia Ginger returned to her seat and wrote the article.

In summary—

The reporter hit the streets and discovered a lot of small ads during summer vacation, therefore calling to verify their authenticity.

The two phone numbers on the recruiting flyer both had issues, which she explained truthfully one by one, ultimately concluding that in today’s society, scams are prevalent, and young people looking for part-time jobs must be cautious and avoid scams.

Meanwhile, she compiled a few notes on summer job precautions for reference.
