Chapter 136: Next Time, I’ll Be Sure to Leave Them Some Evidence
Clearly, all of these things were resources that this camp had been continuously gathering from outside.
But there were far too many strange and novel things among the Abyss’s resources. Humanity had to research and develop them before they could be put to use.
These items were almost certainly things the Divine Elephant Nation was still trying to develop, things they still did not know how to use.
Because on the other side of the warehouse was a research area.
There were all kinds of research equipment and instruments there, along with a conference table and rest area.
It seemed that this place normally had researchers working in it.
He just did not know why there was no one here today.
Li Mu let out a quiet sigh. Fortunately, his Storage Ring was not small. It held twenty cubic meters!
That had been his championship reward from the Abyss First Battle.
This Storage Ring was not considered especially large, but it was still quite decent on the market. Even Wang Longcheng’s ring only held thirty cubic meters.
Li Mu looked around and found a total of four surveillance cameras in the four corners of the room.
He found a spot between two shelves where none of the four cameras could see him, revealed his true form, and pulled out the Electromagnetic Disruption Device from his pocket.
He had originally prepared this thing purely to deal with the Li Family.
He had not expected it to come in handy now.
Li Mu slammed the switch.
With a vicious crackle of electricity, the four surveillance cameras in the corners instantly sparked, then began smoking.
Moving with lightning speed, Li Mu swept up everything he could see into his Storage Ring like a whirlwind stripping a field bare.
In barely ten seconds, the warehouse was already spotless...Li Mu did not linger for even a moment. He transformed into a mosquito and flew straight out through the gap in the small open window of the warehouse.
He had already teleported directly from the black ancient tree back to this camp, so he had no idea what the route was.
And now he definitely could not just teleport straight back to his own camp. He had to fly back and chart a route first.
The moment he rose into the air, the camp behind him had already descended into chaos!
Presumably, the person monitoring the warehouse surveillance had discovered what happened and was now shouting something at the top of his lungs.
The camp instantly sounded the alarm.
Before Li Mu had gone very far, he could already sense two terrifying auras shooting out from the camp behind him.
They were two experts above the Profound Rank, pursuing him directly.
To be honest, when he killed that turbaned officer on the battlefield earlier, there had definitely been some luck involved.
If he had not had Bronze Head and Iron Arms, then there was probably not a single Yellow Rank Martial Artist who could have survived that officer’s kick.
And later, when Li Mu had helped kill that black-robed warlock, he had already gotten a sense of just how powerful Profound Rank experts were.
At this moment, Li Mu had no confidence in facing those two Profound Rank experts alone.
So he instantly accelerated, spreading his wings and climbing as high as he could.
Fortunately, those two Profound Rank pursuers had picked the wrong direction, and Li Mu quickly left them behind.
When Li Mu began flying back, it was around eleven-thirty in the morning.
And by the time he returned to the skies above Tiger Roar Camp, it was already eight-thirty at night!
Other than the two times in the middle when his True Qi ran dry and he had to rest for half an hour each time, Li Mu had spent the entire journey flying at extreme speed, a full eight hours in all.
The map showed a distance of more than 2,600 kilometers!
When Li Mu looked down from above Tiger Roar Camp, he saw that the camp was brightly lit.
The shouts were still booming. Every Chase-and-Evade Game arena was completely full, and everyone was bursting with vigor, stripped to the waist and playing to their hearts’ content.
The camp itself was lively.
But inside the temporary command post, the mood was grim and heavy.
Zhang Zhiwei, Lu Chenfeng, and Song Chuhe sat there in silence.
Of course, Song Chuhe was the one most weighed down with worry.
Over the past two days, Li Mu had checked in with him every four or five hours, and even if he was about to leave communication range, he would warn him in advance.
But Li Mu had sent no message at noon, so Song Chuhe had tried calling him.
There was no signal!
Li Mu had remained completely unheard from for an entire afternoon.
On the third day of the camp’s operation, the commanding officer had suddenly vanished.
Still, Zhang Zhiwei and Lu Chenfeng were taking it a little better, and were able to reassure Song Chuhe.
“Don’t worry. With Li One-Cudgel’s ability, even if he can’t win, no one can keep him there.”
Even as they said that, the two of them were still somewhat uneasy themselves.
Just as the group sat there in silence, the door to the command post was suddenly pushed open.
Li Mu strode in briskly, rolling his neck and shoulders as he came, unscrewing a bottle of water and gulping it down as he walked.
Song Chuhe instantly let out a long breath of relief and hurriedly asked, “Commander, are you all right?”
“I’m fine! Quick, go inform the three Profound Rank seniors. Also call over some of the seniors from the Research Institute. We’re holding a meeting!”
Li Mu set down the bottle of water, shook his head, and spoke.
“I’ll go.”
Zhang Zhiwei and Lu Chenfeng spoke at the same time, one going to notify the Research Institute, the other to summon the Three Profounds.
“Big Brother, next time can you at least let me know in advance? You nearly scared me to death.”
Song Chuhe patted his chest as he spoke.
Li Mu chuckled. “Sorry. I forgot!”
He really had forgotten. He had meant to tell Song Chuhe around noon.
But the moment he found traces of the Divine Elephant Nation, he had followed them immediately, fully focused, and had forgotten all about sending word.
Song Chuhe could not really say much more. He went to the table, picked up a notice, and handed it to Li Mu.
“This was sent over by the military district this morning. It’s a condemnation from the Divine Elephant Nation, accusing us of slaughtering Divine Elephant Nation soldiers.”
“They’re giving us one month to hand over the Vacuum Zone, claiming that this place is their territory.”
“Otherwise, they say they’ll unite the other nations and impose sanctions on us.”
The moment Li Mu heard that, his brows knotted together.
“The Divine Elephant Nation declared war on our country??”
“No. This notice was sent directly to us in the Northern Frontier.”
“The military district told us to decide for ourselves.”
That was what Song Chuhe said.
With something this serious, he had no idea who would dare make the call. Handle it even slightly wrong, and it could escalate into a national war.
But Li Mu merely muttered to himself, “Damn their ancestors! If I’d known, I would’ve dropped a Heavenly Might on them before leaving!”
Those bastards from the Divine Elephant Nation were absurdly ridiculous.
They were the ones who had killed Huaxia’s Abyss-Suppressing Army soldiers first, yet they did not mention that at all.
Instead, they accused Huaxia of killing their men in return?
On the basis of that alone, Huaxia would not be wrong to strike the Divine Elephant Nation.
The Divine Elephant Nation was still clever enough to drag the other nations into it, knowing that Huaxia’s upper leadership would have to weigh the matter more carefully that way.
But the higher-ups’ attitude was already clear.
They had handed the decision to the Pearl Military District.
And the Pearl Military District had handed it to Li Mu.
He did not need to weigh a damn thing!
“Huh?” Song Chuhe did not understand what he meant.
With a rustle, Li Mu casually tossed the notice aside and said to Song Chuhe,
“I found one of their camps.”
“Huh?” Song Chuhe was overjoyed.
By then, the people from the Research Institute and the three Profound Rank experts had also arrived one after another.
As Li Mu recounted how he had discovered the Divine Elephant Nation camp, he also took out all the treasure he had looted from their warehouse and placed it on the table.
“Seniors, you’ve all seen far more than I have. Take a look and tell me what all this stuff is.”
A group of old men from the Research Institute immediately crowded around.
Their eyes widened so much it looked as though they were just short of pulling out magnifying glasses.
The table could not hold it all. A huge pile had to be laid out on the floor as well.
Everyone studied the items while listening to Li Mu explain what had happened.
Just then, a hurried knock sounded at the door!
Everyone in the room froze in place and looked at one another.
They all felt a little like guilty thieves caught in the act.
After all, Li Mu really had stolen these things...Zhang Zhiwei went to the door and looked outside.
“A military district courier.”
“Let him in.”
Li Mu nodded.
The door opened, and a courier from the Pearl Military District walked in. Seeing the room packed with people, he looked a little nervous.
He first saluted Li Mu in greeting.
“What is it?” Li Mu asked.
The courier hurriedly said, “Commander-in-Chief Liang sent me. He said the Divine Elephant Nation sent another message, saying that a batch of extremely important items had gone missing from their camp.”
“The Divine Elephant Nation is demanding in an extremely severe tone that we return them immediately.”
“Commander Liang already rebuked them harshly, telling them to produce evidence, or else the old and new accounts would be settled together.”
“Then Commander Liang sent me here to ask what exactly you took.”
“And also to ask whether you left them any evidence.”
Li Mu instantly glared and snapped, “They lose something and come asking me? How is he so sure I’m the one who took it?”
The courier was speechless, but his gaze drifted toward the piles of supplies covering the floor and table behind Li Mu.
His expression was a little awkward.
Everyone else subconsciously turned around to look as well.
Li Mu did not turn around, but even so, his old face began to flush faintly.
For a moment, the atmosphere turned stiff.
Li Mu cleared his throat.
“Ah... I took it.”
“This time I didn’t leave any evidence, but next time I go, I’ll definitely leave them some evidence!”
