"Mr. Yin, you’ve kept things here really well; it doesn’t look like the apocalypse has even come." Li Xinglei gently patted his daughter’s hand, signaling her to stay calm and not be overwhelmed by jealousy.
Li Xiya sat next to Li Xinglei, suppressing the anger in her heart.
"Yin Yang, it’s been a long time. I was so worried when something happened to you back then." Li Xiya looked at Yin Yang with admiration, her eyes full of concern.
"Miss Li, you’re too kind. We don’t have any relationship anymore, so don’t say anything misleading, or my wife might misunderstand." Yin Yang looked at Li Xiya coldly; he had seen this gaze too many times.
"Mr. Yin, Xiya was also forced back then. Now that that Meng Family guy is gone, we’re here to apologize and also discuss matters concerning the two kids, since they did grow up together." Li Xinglei’s face briefly showed displeasure as he glanced sharply at Xu Mumu.
"No need for apologies. It was Yang’s accident that caused all this, and we didn’t know he’d wake up. As for the two, what could possibly be going on?" Yin Peng smiled faintly, understanding the intentions behind Li Xinglei’s words.
Seeing the Yin Family now holding significant resources, they wanted to backtrack. Did he think his daughter was all that? Could she just cancel an engagement and expect them to welcome her back with open arms now?
"Mr. Yin, I really know I was wrong. I’ve been tormented these past two years, always thinking of Yin Yang. Please, Uncle Yin, give me another chance." Li Xiya looked at Yin Peng with tear-filled eyes.
"Mr. Yin, my daughter is a superpower user. Surely she’s better than a person of unknown origin?" Li Xinglei glanced at Xu Mumu, then looked meaningfully at Yin Peng, implying that Xu Mumu was someone who only depended on the Yin Family, unlike his daughter, who was also a superpower user; the two can’t even compare.
"Compared to Mumu, what are you?" Yin Yang sneered, looking over at Li Xiya. Even if his little wife didn’t have awakened superpowers, she was better than anyone else.
"Yin Yang, don’t go too far. You’re treating me like this because of that woman. Aren’t you considering the relationship between the Yin and Li Families?" Li Xiya looked at Yin Yang with displeasure.
"The relationship between the Yin and Li Families? What relationship? I’m unaware there’s much of one." Yin Yang smiled as he spoke.
"Mr. Li, you can see it too. Yang doesn’t have any feelings for Xiya anymore. As parents, we naturally hope our children have better futures. A forced relationship won’t be sweet. Let’s just leave it at that." Yin Peng spoke gently but with determination.
In Yin Peng’s eyes, Xu Mumu was the girl his son loved, and she, too, had superpowers of multiple kinds, making her much more valuable than Li Xiya.
Now the Yin Family didn’t lack resources and didn’t need to join forces with the Li Family.
"Are you really not going to reconsider?" Li Xinglei’s face darkened. "My Xiya is a Space Ability User; she can store a lot of things."
Li Xinglei played his card, staring at Yin Peng, not believing Yin Peng wouldn’t be interested in a Space Ability User.
"Really? Then congratulations, Mr. Li. The Li Family has a Space Ability User; you’ll be powerful soon." Yin Peng smiled, offering congratulations.
Li Xinglei’s face turned sour; he didn’t expect that even after saying this, Yin Peng would still refuse.
Li Xiya’s face twisted. She wasn’t someone who chased after others, and she would remember this against Yin Yang and the Yin Family. She cast a venomous glance in the direction of the Yin couple.
As the Li father and daughter left, the smile on Yin Peng’s face turned cold.
"Looks like someone’s holding a grudge against us." Yin Yang said with a smiling face, completely unconcerned.
"Let them hold a grudge. There are already quite a few people eyeing our family." Yin Peng remained calm. Despite the recent survey of superpower users, he didn’t think the Yin Family was any worse than others.
The Yin Family had quite a number of awakened superpower users, and they weren’t short of food or weapons.
Yin Chuchu and the others gradually gathered, having heard about the Li Family’s visit.
"Sister-in-law, rest assured, in my heart, you are my sister-in-law." Yin Chuchu said with a smile.
"Mm." Xu Mumu smiled and nodded.
The car slowly drove toward the outskirts of Beijing. Their goal was the zombies outside the city, as the city had been fully taken over by the state, with measures to handle infected zombies and bitten individuals being sent to centralized locations.
The population in the Beijing suburbs remained dense. Xu Mumu and the others took up their weapons and began the slaughter.
The zombies here in the suburbs hadn’t been cleared yet, and the numbers were particularly high. Now that superpowers were registered, Xu Mumu and the rest decided to practice their abilities using these zombies.
Superpowers don’t only grow by absorbing Zombie Crystal Cores. Practicing them repeatedly can also slowly enhance them, though at a much slower pace compared to absorbing Zombie Crystal Cores.
However, using superpowers repeatedly has its benefits. It refines the superpower, allowing the violent energy absorbed from the Zombie Crystal Core into the Superpower Core to be slowly refined.
With beginner-level Ice Element superpowers, even if Xu Mumu’s soul was strong enough to make her powers more potent than a beginner’s, the freezing effect wasn’t very powerful.
She could either temporarily freeze a zombie’s leg, immobilizing it for a few seconds, or freeze their heads, but the freezing intensity wasn’t sufficient.
Compared to Xu Mumu, Yin Lin and the others’ superpowers were weaker. Yin Chuchu’s Water Element could only create three bottles’ worth, and Yin Lin’s Wind Element was at the level of a fan’s first setting. Other superpowers were also weak; one could metalize one’s body but could only change their fists to gold.
The Wood Element could only germinate weeds, and with other plants, they would barely reach seedling stage.
However, Yin Yang’s superpower was special. Though it could only manifest as a palm-sized mass of black liquid, it could completely corrode a zombie and even retract.
Xu Mumu and the others were envious of Yin Yang’s superpower. Such powers were overwhelmingly strong.
"Even though we’re siblings, how is there such a gap between us?" Yin Chuchu sat on the roadside, eating a pancake, feeling dejected. After using three bottles of water, her superpower was depleted, leaving a bad taste from having exhauste her abilities.
"Having superpowers is already good; many people don’t have any at all." Yin Yang calmly said, awakening superpowers of any kind in the apocalypse was already the greatest fortune.
