Chapter 726: Lazy Serpent

Xu Mumu and the others only realized that the Big Black Snake could change its size when it became so small; the previous size they saw was its actual size.

After witnessing the lazy nature of this snake, Xu Mumu was left speechless.

This time, among the mutant beasts that accompanied them were two tigers, a leopard, a dozen or more unknown but quite beautiful birds, a nimble monkey, an adorable squirrel, and a lovely peacock—a decent number indeed.

Once outside, upon seeing zombies, without Yin Yang having to give any orders, these mutant beasts charged right ahead. Yesterday, Xu Mumu had already given them purified zombie crystal cores, and they had fallen in love with the taste.

Thus, they were especially diligent in killing zombies, with the help of the Big Black Snake’s orders, of course.

Yin Yang twitched the corners of his mouth. How were they supposed to train like this? The zombies were all being dealt with by these mutant beasts.

"This time, we brought quite a lot of food with us. Let’s go a bit farther, lure a horde of zombies here, and then take them all out at once," Xu Mumu pondered, stroking his chin. This way, they could kill a few more zombies.

"Sounds good," Yin Yang nodded.

Zombies are especially sensitive to the scent of blood. After walking some distance, Yin Yang took out a bloodstained piece of clothing and hung it on the leopard. Directed by the Big Black Snake, the leopard ran in a circle outside.

Soon, countless zombies began converging towards them; the blood on the clothes was fresh, from a supply they had previously taken from a hospital.

Once the zombies were lured in, Xu Mumu decisively retrieved the clothes into the space for reuse later.

Xu Mumu thought that by consistently using these simple and direct methods, one day they could wipe out these zombies clean.

Xu Mumu started using her superpower, and with the ice blocks as a barrier, it slowed down the zombies significantly. Yin Yang, in turn, acted even more swiftly, his knife cutting through the zombies speedily, each strike crisply and decisively.

Watching this scene, Qiu Yu, who clumsily followed beside Yin Lin, couldn’t help but be envious. When would he ever have such skills?

In the team, there was a superpower user of the wood element. Observing Qiu Yu’s clumsy manner, Yin Lin assigned the young girl to him, letting them cooperate on their own.

Though taciturn, the girl’s strength was quite commendable. Her name was Yin Wanqiu, a member of a branch of the Yin Family.

The girl carried several vine seeds with her, collected while accompanying Yin Yang to kill zombies. After the apocalypse, the wild weeds outside became even more resilient, and these vines proved extremely convenient for binding zombies.

Tied by the vines, Qiu Yu excitedly charged forward. He thought that his knife could surely decapitate the zombies as easily as Yin Yang’s knife and roll on the ground a few times.

However, his expectations were harshly confronted by reality; though his knife was indeed sharp, the zombie’s bones were even harder than when they were alive. His knife got stuck on the bones due to insufficient strength.

Yin Wanqiu widened her round eyes in disbelief at Qiu Yu, looking at him as if he were a waste.

Feeling his face flush, Qiu Yu felt embarrassed being looked at by a girl several years younger than him. He quickly wanted to retrieve his knife and strike a few more times to dislodge it.

Xu Mumu, observing this scene, couldn’t help but laugh. This guy was an amateur with knives, and unfamiliar with human anatomy, leading to his knife getting stuck like that.

"Here you go, use this to practice," Xu Mumu tossed him an iron rod. The knife was well-made and using it for practice was a waste.

"Th-thank you, Sister-in-law," Qiu Yu said quietly, putting down the knife in his hand obediently. He was determined to ask Yin Lin for lessons when they returned; watching them slicing through zombies with their sabers made him even more envious.

With the iron rod swinging continuously in his hand, the zombies were reduced to piles of decomposed flesh, utterly disgusting to behold.

After killing one, Qiu Yu glanced at little sister Yin Wanqiu surreptitiously, relieved not to find disdain in her eyes. He resolved to practice doubling his effort once they returned; the way they wielded those big knives was just too cool—he wanted to do it too!!

The battle didn’t last long; with only a few thousand zombies, and help from the mutant animals, the fight concluded in just half an hour.

For the zombies killed by herself and Yin Yang, Xu Mumu instructed Little Huo to help collect the crystal cores and store them in the space for purification.

As for the Big Black Snake, a dozen birds worked in tandem, and the crystal cores of the zombies they killed were all gathered up. Yin Chuchu sensibly helped clean these crystal cores.

The Big Black Snake pushed this small pile of zombies toward Xu Mumu with the tip of its tail; there were at least a thousand crystal cores there, making Xu Mumu nearly drool with envy.

Nevertheless, she kept thirty percent of them, and with the help of the little elf, calmly put on a show, her hands casting a white light over the crystal cores. Originally somewhat murky, the crystal cores soon became crystal clear.

The Big Black Snake looked at Xu Mumu with satisfaction, "Your superpower is truly amazing," it commented. It divided a small portion of the crystal cores for its underlings, while it swallowed the rest with its large mouth.

After consuming the pile of crystal cores, the Big Black Snake squinted its eyes slightly, "Half full."

Xu Mumu’s lip twitched—how could they possibly support it when so many crystal cores were only half filling?

The other mutant beasts, learning from the Big Black Snake, directly absorbed the crystal cores they received.

Little Huo trembled as it followed Xu Mumu, frightened by the Big Black Snake’s presence, unsure why its master had brought it back—truly scaring the chicken to death.

After the distribution of crystal cores, even Qiu Yu received four or five. Although the least, he was still quite satisfied. The crystal cores purified by Xu Mumu were genuinely pleasant to absorb; after absorbing one, he felt his superpowers seemingly grew slightly.

After resting for a while, the group set out again. Their target lay at a chicken farm fifty miles away, where Mrs. Yin eagerly desired to raise a brood of mutant hens, allowing them to enjoy more mutant chicken eggs in the future.

Having absorbed two crystal cores with Xu Mumu, Little Huo laid another egg at Xu Mumu’s side.

Surrounded by eager gazes, the people had already been shown off by Yin Chuchu that morning and naturally knew these eggs were good things—delicious and capable of enhancing superpowers—they were eager to try them too.
