"Cough, cough, let’s make some egg soup tonight," Xu Mumu looked at the crowd; one egg isn’t enough for everyone, so egg soup it is.
No one had any objections to Xu Mumu’s suggestion; they just wanted to know how delicious this egg could be.
Once rested, they set off again. The Big Black Snake, having eaten only half-satisfied, leisurely coiled around Yin Chuchu’s wrist, silently digesting the power of those Crystal Cores.
The blood-stained clothing was taken out again, and the group quickly ran forward with a horde of zombies following behind.
Many survivors heading to the Imperial City saw this scene, but there were so many zombies and mutant beasts that no one dared to help.
In fact, whenever people encountered them, they quickly hid away.
Xu Mumu and the others chose a plaza with a wide view; behind them, a mass of zombies followed, numbering at least in the tens of thousands.
"Sister-in-law, aren’t we being a bit overconfident?" Yin Chuchu’s voice trembled at the sight of so many zombies.
"What’s to fear? I can eat as many as come," the Big Black Snake remained calm and confident as always — having strength truly makes a difference.
Surrounded by countless zombies, the group fought desperately; this was undoubtedly their toughest challenge yet.
Xu Mumu, however, was filled with excitement; the thrill of killing zombies was simply wonderful. Though dangerous, only by constantly veering on the edge could one improve significantly.
No storm, no rainbow.
The mutant beasts were even more excited than Xu Mumu. Having tasted purified Crystal Cores, they loved the taste and couldn’t wait to kill all the zombies.
The low-level zombies weren’t agile, and Xu Mumu’s group wasn’t weak either. With their superpowers and aid from the mutant animals, they slayed zombies with remarkable speed.
Especially the Big Black Snake, which grew larger and swept its tail across massive areas.
But there were so many zombies that the commotion attracted even more to the scene.
After half an hour of slaughter, only half of the zombies were dealt with; Yin Chuchu and others were exhausted and sat to rest, while Xu Mumu and Yin Yang continued to kill zombies.
Xu Mumu mainly relied on her Power Ability to enhance her stamina, whereas Yin Yang was driven by the desire to become stronger.
Zombies continued to fall, yet more were approaching; Little Huo stayed by Xu Mumu’s side, pecking any nearby zombies, ensuring both of them stayed safe despite their fatigue.
Once Yin Chuchu and the others were rested, they rejoined the fight, while Xu Mumu’s group took a break.
After clearing all zombies from the area, Xu Mumu’s hands trembled slightly from exhaustion as she held her machete.
Yin Chuchu and the rest lay sprawled on the plaza, not caring about the dirtiness anymore.
Zombies piled up all around; Xu Mumu released Little Huo to peck out the Crystal Cores, despite their fatigue, the haul was substantial.
With Little Huo cheerfully delivering the Crystal Cores, a small mountain formed, looking quite spectacular.
"Wow, so many Crystal Cores," everyone was astounded.
"Many of these are ours; they should be given to us," the Big Black Snake slithered over, eagerly eyeing the Crystal Cores. It felt great to be out with Yin Chuchu, loving the outside world filled with zombies and Crystal Cores.
In the zoo, it only had human-fed food; it had long dealt with the zombies and zombie animals there.
"Alright, alright, these are deserved," Xu Mumu nodded, smiling. She allocated nearly seventy percent of the haul to the Big Black Snake, acknowledging their significant effort.
Even with only thirty percent left, the number of Crystal Cores was still considerable.
Xu Mumu purified the Crystal Cores, and the mutant beasts joyfully devoured them, with some even evolving on the spot.
One such was a tiger, which swallowed over a hundred Crystal Cores the Big Black Snake shared, reaching level two with the massive energy within.
Upon leveling up, its size surprisingly shrank a bit, with its fur becoming more sleek and glossy. Xu Mumu suppressed the urge to touch, as it looked so fluffy and likely felt soft.
Seeing the tiger evolve, though slightly smaller, but with a stronger aura, the other mutant beasts eagerly consumed their Crystal Cores and evolved as well.
Little Huo was also fed by Xu Mumu into further evolution; it remained the same size, but its wings grew stronger, and its flame more powerful with possibly higher temperatures, plus, it laid another egg.
Xu Mumu silently pocketed the egg. It was getting late, time to find a place to rest — two waves of zombie killing had left her exhausted.
Gathering the zombie corpses together, Yin Yang conjured a large mass of black liquid in his palm, sending it into the corpses.
The bodies dissolved quickly, eroded at an astonishing speed.
With the zombies fully corroded, Yin Yang reabsorbed the liquid, which darkened further as it came back.
Xu Mumu’s luck was good as they found a building, clearing out a family of four zombies inside.
The house was a three-story building, slightly messy inside, requiring a quick tidy-up.
Xu Mumu retrieved pre-prepared food from her space, then took out a pot to make a simple tomato egg soup.
As the lid lifted, a delicious aroma wafted, making Xu Mumu swallow — it smelled incredible, impressively aromatic for something so simple.
The group stared intently at the pot, held back only by Xu Mumu and others. Otherwise, they’d have rushed to grab it.
Xu Mumu served small bowls, giving each person a portion, with two bowls’ worth left, which the Big Black Snake took entirely.
"Wow, Little Huo’s egg is too delicious; I’ve never had egg soup this good,"
The group showered praises, and Little Huo, understanding, proudly puffed out its chest, knowing it was the most useful.
Seeing Little Huo’s proud demeanor, it soon found itself under a snake’s watchful eye — though slightly useless, its egg did taste great. Indeed, being with Yin Chuchu was the best decision.
Feeling like targeted prey, Little Huo stiffened entirely, its head turning stiffly to meet the Big Black Snake’s haunting gaze.
"Cluck, cluck, cluck," Master, what are your orders?
