Chapter 343: Old Rings Do Not Kneel

The second lamp attendant turned the archive key beyond Eirwen’s braced passage while Hajin watched every accepted rank thread. A lower service screen opened beyond her, revealing five coronation attendants sheltering beside the next landing.

None carried a Shard label inside the unranked route, but the pinned guard escort still separated them from the eastern stair. Eirwen held thirty-six breaths for someone capable of crossing the measured room.

Hajin opened his first Ring around his right forearm without moving Aegis or tightening the Chain. Gold rotation entered the room beneath the unresolved script, giving its hierarchy another complete chance to classify him.

No Shard number appeared above his head inside the surrounding white-gold hierarchy script. The kneeling command pressed through the floor around his body, although it found no accepted rank thread capable of entering his core.

He raised one foot against the room-scale pressure and moved a single pace toward the servant arch. Resistance gathered across his shoulders like deep water, slowing movement without forcing either knee downward.

The Witness Avatar turned its crowned helm away from Eirwen toward him. A new measuring line circled the first Ring, copied its inward rotation, then failed to connect that structure beneath the armored hand.

"One Ring lets you move through the ambient rule without accepting its assigned position," Aria said, preserving the result, "the movement also gives the Witness a clearer sample of your older circulation."

Hajin used that limited step to reach the nearest three-Shard guard without extending protection around him. The man crawled beneath his own strength while Hajin cleared loose armor from the path with the Chain’s outer links.

Moving an object created no borrowed standing upon the guard’s label. He crossed Eirwen’s bow, lost his white-gold rank thread, then stood inside the unranked route without another pressure pulse.

Two lower-ranked guards followed the verified method one body length apart toward the unranked arch. Hajin touched neither person, while Eirwen counted thirty-two breaths beneath the increasing strain around her twelve Shards.

He opened a second Ring beside the first before returning toward the room’s center. Their opposed rotations pushed the surrounding pressure farther from his limbs, allowing three ordinary steps without the earlier drag.

The avatar’s smooth face gained no expression, but its raised hand turned toward his covered right arm. White-gold measurement passed over the gray pathway lines beneath his sleeve, following them toward his shoulder without entering the old burn.

Fragments of the surveyors’ recorded gold-purple frequency appeared around both Rings inside the avatar’s measuring line. The Witness compared his current circulation against the quarry observation while another title tried forming above the unresolved hierarchy mark.

{Foreign bloodline structure: under measurement.}

{Accepted rank: unavailable.}

[ Hierarchical-law test: two Rings ]

[ Independent movement: improved ]

[ Bloodline scrutiny: active ]

Hajin closed his right hand before the measurement could make him answer with more power automatically. His Fragment depth remained unavailable, but the avatar had stopped treating him as another unimportant error.

"It recognizes a bloodline relationship inside the Rings without identifying its owner," Aria said, isolating the unfinished title, "each opened circuit gives the Witness more circulation to compare against its stored sample."

The archive councilor dragged himself toward Eirwen while both Rings remained active. Hajin moved the fallen custody slate from his route, allowing the older man to cross without accepting Aegis or physical assistance.

The succession councilor followed behind him with one arm pressed across his strained core. Both labels disappeared beyond the servant arch, placing every council office outside the measured room.

Eirwen counted twenty-eight breaths beneath her twelve active Shards when Hajin opened his third Ring. Gold circles occupied most of his forearm, turning the room’s general resistance into thin pressure that no longer stopped an ordinary stride.

The Witness Avatar lowered its raised hand by one finger while every measurement converged upon Hajin. Every unfinished measurement around Hajin aligned toward his heart, while the coronation crown produced a narrow mark aimed at his unseen bloodline source.

[ Hierarchical-law test: three Rings ]

[ Independent movement: near unrestricted ]

[ Rank conversion: failed ]

[ Avatar observation priority: primary ]

[ Bloodline-source inquiry: initiated ]

Hajin stopped before opening the fourth Ring or supplying a complete output sample. Three circuits had shown how movement improved, plus how every improvement brought the avatar’s attention closer to the Fragment behind them.

The gray pathways beneath his sleeve remained dull while the foreign inspection traveled toward his shoulder. Its measure followed their shape without supplying a sampled frequency, reopening the existing burn, or producing another controllable technique.

Aria preserved the unchanged pathway condition beside every law response from the three tests. The increased movement came from the older Ring structure resisting classification, while the avatar’s growing interest remained a separate and dangerous result.

"Three is the highest useful test while everyone remains connected," he said, letting Aria seal the measurements, "four waits until the law has nobody else to punish."

Juna watched him cross the room while her three Wing symbols pulled against the accepted labels. She opened one pale-gold Wing and shifted toward the remaining guards nearest the armor cabinets.

Didi cried out across the nullstone circle before Juna completed the first pace. The princess’s three Shards twisted beneath doubled white-gold pressure, forcing her other knee against the nullstone floor.

She stopped instantly, leaving her clawed hand several steps from the nearest guard. The additional pressure disappeared from Didi when her Wing folded back into its original bond.

[ Wing-bond movement rejected by local hierarchy ]

[ Unresolved authority reassigned through accepted royal rank ]

[ Pressure recipient: Princess Didi / three Shards ]

"The law cannot place a Wing contract sourced from your unresolved Rings," Aria said, mapping the transfer, "it charges cross-room movement to Didi because her accepted royal rank anchors this chamber."

Loccy tested the conclusion after Juna folded her light without opening all three Wings. One pale-gold span formed behind her, and she moved her planted foot less than half a pace toward Eirwen’s route.

Pressure entered Didi’s Shards through the royal label before Loccy transferred her full weight. Loccy returned her foot beside the first mark, closing the Wing while her numb arms remained useless against the command.

"I can stand here," Loccy said, watching Didi’s breathing settle, "walking makes her carry my place too."

Neither summon lacked force for the distance between them plus the servant arch. Their older Wing bonds resisted direct submission, but the counterfeit hierarchy turned that resistance into punishment for the nearest accepted royal anchor.

Hajin kept three Rings open while the remaining three guards crawled toward Eirwen independently. Two crossed before her count reached twenty-four breaths, leaving the five coronation attendants waiting below for an escort through the eastern stair.

The final five-Shard captain remained beside Didi, refusing to enter the passage while she stayed pinned inside the measured room. His stronger accepted rank kept both knees down despite the distance already cleared before him.

"Didi goes through the servant arch next," Hajin said, facing her without moving Aegis, "once her royal label leaves this room, Juna and Loccy can cross without feeding pressure into her."

Didi lifted her head beneath three white-gold threads while the Witness Avatar continued measuring Hajin’s Rings. Frost gathered along her clenched seal, but she made no movement toward Eirwen’s waiting passage.
